Chapter 58 New Rare Cards
Chapter 58 New Rare Cards
July 27th, 3 days before the opening of the SSR Club.
New Jersey, a drug enforcement unit's headquarters.
Looking at the disheveled man in front of him, Richie Roberts had a strange expression—he hadn't seen McKlain in a long time and never expected the two of them to meet in this place.
Since the Times Square incident, McLean has become even more corrupt, to the point that he was suspended indefinitely by the police department.
Come back to work when you've figured things out.
Back then, Richie hadn't even found a million dollars yet, and McLean had already "retired from the scene."
Is he finally coming out of seclusion? But why is he looking for me?
McLean roared, "I'm going to kill those drug dealers in New York!"
Richie: "."
David Mills joked, "Dude, what's gotten into you? You're even angrier than me."
McLean took a deep breath and recounted some of his recent experiences, leaving Richie and David exchanging bewildered glances.
Did he run right up to his house and blow up his car?
Was it Frank who did it? Or his distributors?
“This does sound like something drug dealers would do,” Richie sighed.
He found evidence that Frank had previously shot and killed a Black enemy on a busy street in Harlem.
He was shot in the head and killed instantly.
Countless people witnessed this scene—Frank was eliminating enemies while simultaneously establishing his authority over his underlings.
However, this incident caused no stir in Harlem, a predominantly Black neighborhood. The police acted as if they hadn't seen anything, and no case was even filed.
This made Richie even more disappointed with the police department.
So what if the car was blown up? Even if Richie found McLean's body the next day, he wouldn't be surprised.
“Roberts, I know you’re investigating those drug dealers.”
McLean stared firmly at Richie. "I can help. I'll do anything to take down those drug dealers in New York! Those damn bastards, I didn't fight back when they beat me up, but they threatened me with my wife and children and crossed my line. I can't forgive them!"
The hatred in his voice almost pierced Richie and David's eardrums.
As the leader, Richie has the right to choose his own teammates, even if they are not police officers—his team has many skilled gangsters.
In response to McLean's request, Richie extended his hand, "Welcome to the team."
He knew of McLean's illustrious record, and with such a formidable general joining the fray, he was even more confident in winning the war on drugs.
The Bronx, Mariggio's Bar.
"Luca, you haven't succeeded yet? Have you run into some trouble? You can tell me about it."
Marigio poured Luca a glass of wine. "In the past, you would have succeeded in these kinds of assassination missions within three days at the latest. Why has it taken so long this time?"
"If I really wanted to kill Richie and Galant, they would be dead already." Luca shook his head. "Roberts isn't in New York. He's hiding in New Jersey. His narcotics unit is independent of the police; it's a special operations group formed by the DEA. The federal government takes it very seriously and has sent many people to assist them. I haven't found a suitable opportunity to make my move yet."
"Isn't Richie in cahoots with Galant? I plan to strike when they meet, killing two birds with one stone!"
“That sounds like a bit troublesome,” Marício frowned. “Dominic pressured me last night, and I still don’t know how to explain it.”
Last night, Dominic called to inquire about the progress, and Marigio could only make excuses, saying that the target was difficult to deal with and Luca was still looking for an opportunity.
Judging from Dominic's tone at the time, he seemed somewhat dissatisfied.
Marigio: "Luca, should I call a few more assassins to assist you?"
Luca became arrogant, "Assassins always act alone. I don't trust my back to those who get in my way."
Marígio: "."
Fine, fine, you have your Assassin's Creed, but you still have to complete the mission for me!
“You have to give me a deadline,” Marigio whispered. “Dominic doesn’t have that much patience. Roberts has crossed the line. His investigation is driving New York’s drug lords crazy. They won’t tolerate him continuing to push the boundaries.”
Luca frowned slightly. It seemed his delaying tactics were coming to an end. It had only been a few days.
“I’ll do it as soon as possible,” Luca said.
“Okay.” Marício nodded, then brought up another matter, “Dominic will be there when the club opens. Luca, you need to perform well; this is a good opportunity to gain Dominic’s approval.”
Luca grinned, revealing a set of bright white teeth. He would definitely have to treat the second boss well.
Two days later, in the evening.
Brooklyn.
There's a nightclub called "Joe & Mary" here, a place frequented by Carmine Galant, the head of the Bonanno family.
Richie and the others got out of the car and headed towards the clubhouse entrance.
“Roberts, we’d better be careful. These Mafia members are ruthless and heartless. Cooperating with them is like asking a tiger for its skin!”
McLean gave a stern warning.
When he learned that Richie and his gang were working with the Mafia, he was completely stunned and had to admire Richie's audacity.
The Bonano family was once the biggest drug lord family in New York. The anti-drug squad's cooperation with them to deal with the current top drug lord seemed like a good idea at first glance, but McLean sensed a strong sense of danger.
Richie shook his head: "Our current enemy is Frank. That guy has made a mess of New York. Even the Mafia can't stand McLean anymore. I need more power to help me get rid of Frank, just like your joining us."
David shrugged: "While the Mafia isn't exactly a saint either, they're more law-abiding than Frank. Occasionally, I even miss a peace-loving Mafia member; that guy was an outlier."
Richie: "." McLean was also speechless. Now, thinking back to that night, he realized he had really drunk too much. He had poured out so much of his troubles to Pigeon and said a lot of his innermost thoughts.
It's so strange. I always felt that guy was trustworthy, but once the alcohol hit him, he just couldn't stop talking. But he was right about one thing: catching a few small-time drug dealers was just a temporary fix; it wouldn't completely crush those crazy guys.
The three men, along with several other police officers, entered the clubhouse and met Cameron Garant, who was holding a cigar, next to a swimming pool upstairs.
There were several bodyguards and many gang members nearby, and they all seemed unfazed by the sight of the police officers.
This is not the first time the two sides have met.
After sitting down, Richie and Galant talked about Frank's "backers"—those whom Frank had bribed with voters and money.
Galant can guarantee that his side is stronger than Frank's, and when they go to court, Frank will not have any advantage.
The judge raised his gavel, and the scales of justice tipped in Richie's favor.
At this moment, on the street opposite the clubhouse.
While checking the equipment, Luca spoke to Leon in the co-pilot's seat, "Another lively night, Leon. This mission is a bit complicated, so don't make any mistakes when we start."
Tonight's purpose is to carry out the execution order. Since I've accepted the mission, I still have to put on a show.
While you're at it, try to build up your bond with these rare cards and deepen your connection.
“Okay.” Lyon looked at the photos in his hand. One of them was of Carma Galant, the big boss of the Bonanno family. The other photos were of Richie, David, McLean, and others.
Luca said with a smile, "Now all the actors are in place. Lyon, you're a veteran director now, so when you add scenes, be natural and don't give anything away. Also, don't hurt our lead actor."
Director Leon looked speechless. "Isn't it because you like to do these weird and strange things?"
“Oh, right,” Luca reminded him, “stay away from that bald-headed McKlain.”
Your cheat isn't as abstract as theirs.
"Okay." Leon didn't ask any more questions.
Luca was very satisfied with Lyon's clean and efficient style; he did what he was told and added scenes as he pleased without causing any unnecessary trouble.
This is what a mature and composed assassin should be like.
"Lyon, the club opens tomorrow. As the head of security for our club, remember to leave our guests with an unforgettable impression."
"."
Leon forced a smile.
He said he was just going to teach people how to raise Silver Queens, but he ended up becoming the security supervisor and even got to know many of the club's employees.
Thinking of this, the smile on Leon's face widened even further.
It feels pretty good to spend so much time with so many people from the club every day?
The elegant and gentlemanly Jimmy, the lively and precocious Matilda, and Brian, who loves racing cars, are all going to be taken out for a race to pick up girls.
Occasionally, you'd run into Jordan at the card table and he'd lose hundreds of thousands of dollars, then leave the club cursing and swearing, only to return a few days later, full of energy, vowing to win back everything he'd lost.
He thought Denham, the FBI agent, was alright, except he often liked to stay in bars alone drinking coffee, and he always needed five spoonfuls of sugar.
Isn't it sickeningly sweet?
As an assassin, Leon has excellent observation skills and can notice and remember many small details that others overlook.
For example, whenever a pigeon is about to cause trouble, it always likes to dress itself up very smartly, making it look like it's going on a date.
For example, right now, Luca is fixing his hair in front of the rearview mirror, muttering to himself, "Lyon, tonight we're going to have a high-speed chase."
Having finally managed to gather so many rare cards together, they definitely need to make a dazzling debut with an impressive image.
Luca: "Remember, be quick and stylish~~~ Like Wardfa?!"
Luca's exclamation caught Leon's attention. In the reflection in the rearview mirror, he saw a group of Japanese people dressed in black.
Luca saw this group of people at the Red Flower Restaurant!
However, the two women leading the group were strangers.
One of them was an Asian woman with dark hair; the other was a blonde white woman wearing an eye patch, revealing only one eye.

Deadly Viper Organization?
How is Red Flower Restaurant connected to this assassin organization?
Holy crap! This is truly the world of assassins; all sorts of lousy assassins have wandered in here!
Luca muttered, "Damn it! That bastard Bill! I hope that yellow-clad goddess of war isn't married yet."
If nothing unexpected happens, the yellow-clad female warrior who wields a knife and fights her way from Japan to America and then from America to Mexico is most likely also an almost invincible SSR card.
They also know a powerful yet abstract form of Chinese Kung Fu.
