Chapter 188 Acting for Heaven
Chapter 188 Acting for Heaven
into the night.
South Boston.
Inside a restaurant, two policemen in suits walked in, sat down at one of the seats, brazenly picked up the menu, ordered randomly, and urged the food to be served quickly, displaying an extremely arrogant attitude.
When the proprietress behind the food counter saw the two policemen, her face turned pale, and her hand holding the cleaver trembled.
These corrupt police officers have come to collect protection money.
The shop owner looked helpless. Business was already so-so, and the protection fees they had to pay every week were almost wiping out all their profits. Besides, these corrupt cops didn't really do anything; when thugs came to harass the shop, they simply ignored them.
She refused their extortion for protection money, but the price was that her shop was burned down in the middle of the night.
We don't know who did it, and there's no way to investigate.
How can this be investigated? Should we call the police? It's obvious that the police are deliberately condoning this; how can they possibly catch the real arsonist?
After a period of renovation, the shop reopened. The proprietress resigned herself to her fate and prepared to pay protection money in exchange for peace. She didn't expect these corrupt police officers to actually protect the shop; she just wanted them to stop harassing her.
Soon after, the two policemen finished their dinner with great relish, patting their bellies with satisfied expressions.
Then one of the policemen stood up and flipped the sign on the door to the "closed" side, and then began to drive away the other customers who were still dining in the restaurant.
"We're closing! Everyone, get out!"
"Hurry up, we're closing!"
"go out!"
Two policemen shoved the waiter aside and rudely drove away the other customers.
Seeing their aggressive demeanor, many guests, not wanting to cause trouble and fearing they would get into trouble, got up and left.
Then a policeman rushed to the counter, slammed his hand on the table, and shouted, "Boss! Pay up!"
He said he would pay, but he didn't take out any money. Instead, he stared at the proprietress with a hostile look.
The shop owner is the one who should pay.
The proprietress sighed, untied her apron, stepped forward, and took an envelope out of her pocket, handing it over.
"That's right."
The policeman sneered, "If you pay on time, there won't be any trouble."
The proprietress avoided their gazes, truly not wanting to see those two disgusting faces.
"Boss, remember to clean up the grease regularly, otherwise it could easily cause a fire," the policeman said with a grating laugh.
With the extorted money in hand, the two policemen were about to leave when they noticed a young man in black sitting at a table next to the entrance, holding a menu and examining it closely.
The two policemen were filled with suspicion. Had the extortion attempt just been witnessed?
Driving away customers is a way to avoid being seen; it's always troublesome if they're caught.
Just as the two were about to ask questions, Luca slowly spoke up, "I'll give you a chance to live. Return the stolen money to the boss, sincerely apologize to him, and promise that this will never happen again!"
The sound, though not loud, was clear and echoed inside the shop, leaving the owner and the two policemen stunned for a moment.
"Where did this hothead come from?"
"Hahaha, do you know who you're talking to? Why are we doing this?"
Two policemen strode up to Luca and grabbed his arm. "Kid, come with us! Let's find a quieter place to talk this out."
Another policeman threatened, "Maybe we should tie a rock to you and throw you into the Niponset River."
His colleagues chimed in, "That's a great idea, let's do it, haha."
Luca paused for half a second, then asked curiously, "Did you dump the bodies in the Niponsit River?"
This question caught the two policemen off guard. Was this kid stupid? Couldn't he tell that this was a threat?
Luca said calmly, "A while ago, when I was fishing by the Niponsit River, I caught a body tied with stones. I thought it was the work of the gangsters from the South District, but now it seems that it was you two who did it?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" one of the policemen immediately attacked. "I'm sending you to join those corpses right now!"
Just then, Luca moved, quickly grabbing one of the policemen's wrists and pulling his arm hard, causing him to lose his balance and fall onto the table.
Without batting an eye, Luca picked up a fork from the table and plunged it into the back of the policeman's hand, pinning it firmly to the wooden table.
"Ah!!" A painful scream rang out.
The other policeman's expression changed drastically, and he quickly reached for his waist, but as soon as he took out his pistol, a sharp pain shot through his lower abdomen.
Luca pulled back his knee strike, grabbed the opponent's arm and twisted it forcefully, then chopped at the opponent's wrist with his other hand, causing the pistol to fall to the ground and be caught in Luca's palm.
He then grabbed the butt of his gun and smashed it on the policeman's head.
The policeman, bleeding from his head, felt dizzy and unsteady. He was then kicked again and sent flying backward, crashing to the ground.
Luca turned to look at the policeman who was slumped over the table screaming in agony. He twisted the pistol in one hand, and parts and bullets rained down on the man's face, turning a complete pistol into a pile of parts in an instant.
Grasping the fork, Luca said expressionlessly, "Now you know what to do?"
"Fuck you! You're finished!" the policeman yelled through the pain. "Assaulting and injuring a federal police officer, you're finished! Just wait until you're in jail and getting your ass fucked!"
"Really?" Luca chuckled. "So you're a cop. I thought you were a gangster. Isn't collecting protection money a gangster's business? How come you cops are getting into this now? If the media found out what you're doing, do you think the police station will still protect you?"
"Fuck! Ah!"
The policeman wanted to swear a few more times, but the fork in his hand was churning through the flesh, and the excruciating pain was driving him to the brink of madness. "Give me back my money! Let me go!"
Luca squinted and released his grip. "And it's not just this shop. All the shops on this street, in this city, that you've extorted from—give them all their money back. Do you understand? Otherwise, you can lie at the bottom of the Niponsit River and wait to be fished out."
The police officer looked terrified. "Who are you?"
"Just a concerned citizen passing by, who likes to meddle in other people's business."
Luca pulled out his fork and kicked the other man away. "Go pay back the money. I don't want to repeat myself."
The two disheveled policemen scrambled to their feet, their eyes filled with fear. Where on earth did this scoundrel come from? One of them pulled out an envelope, placed the money on the counter, and quickly left with his colleague.
"and many more!"
The two of them froze.
Luca: "An apology? What about your promises?"
The two men looked humiliated and indignant. Damn it, this guy is going too far! They've already paid him back, what more does he want?
Just then, a police car stopped not far from the entrance.
Their eyes lit up – a colleague was coming!
As the police car stopped, a Black man emerged from a nearby alley.
He had been watching those two policemen for a long time, preparing to teach them a lesson tonight and threaten them to return the extorted protection money—he had been collecting evidence of their extortion during this time and had even secretly recorded videos of it.
With these videos as a threat, these police officers should have obeyed if they didn't want to be exposed by the media and get dismissed from the police force.
But the plan was ruined by a young man who suddenly appeared.
What surprised him even more was that the young man was also there to seek justice and demand that the police return the money and apologize.
Are there still such kind-hearted passersby these days?
Now that more police officers have appeared, the Black man realizes the situation is very unfavorable. No matter how good the other party is, he is only one person. Facing so many police officers, should he resort to violence?
Should I get involved?
If they don't intervene, that young man will most likely be bullied by these police officers, and who knows if they're in cahoots? And the matter of returning the protection money will probably fall through.
But if he got involved, he didn't want to cause any unnecessary trouble given his status.
But sitting idly by wasn't his style. The black man's mind swayed for a long time, but in the end he still walked out of the alley and headed towards the shop.
When he entered, the two policemen were complaining to a higher-ranking officer, while a group of policemen with guns were on guard all around.
"Sir, this guy intentionally injured a federal police officer."
The two policemen twisted the truth, relentlessly smearing Luca, refusing to utter a single word about the cause of the incident, only claiming how severely they had been injured.
In the event of such an incident, no matter the circumstances, the police will certainly protect their colleagues and apprehend the perpetrator first.
The black man couldn't stand it anymore and thought to himself that this was troublesome. He stepped forward and said to help Luca out of the predicament, "I saw what happened just now, and it wasn't as these two officers described."
His sudden appearance attracted the attention of everyone present. Colin Sullivan, who led the team, and Luca both looked at the black man.

Robert, a bald man with no hair, is a "retired" member of the Black Ops commando team, a top CIA agent and executioner, with extremely keen observation skills. He kills as easily as drinking water and is one of the rarest and most powerful combatants in the official forces.
Luca knew that this guy was secretly observing these corrupt cops, but he didn't expect them to come to his aid after he took action. Besides, he didn't need Robert's help; Colin could handle the situation.
When the other party stood up to testify on his behalf, Luca couldn't help but sigh, "This guy really has a strong sense of justice." But the other party's sense of justice wasn't based on laws and regulations, but rather on his own set of personal principles.
At that moment, Robert took out his phone and said, "And I have video evidence, this guy."
"My name is Luca Greco."
“Mr. Greco acted in self-defense and did not attack the police officer intentionally.”
Upon hearing this, the two policemen's expressions changed drastically, while Colin looked puzzled. What was this all about? Was it also arranged by Old Pigeon?
He gave Luca a questioning look, who smiled and said, “Officer Sullivan, I’ve already said I’m innocent. I just saw these two policemen extorting money from a shop owner and stood up to tell them that what they were doing was wrong. As a result, they tried to lay a hand on me, threatened to throw me into the river.”
Robert handed over his phone, which clearly recorded the two policemen's extortion and their threats against Luca.
“Police should represent justice, not abuse their power to oppress civilians,” Robert stated firmly. “I have more than one copy of these videos, and I expect this matter to be handled fairly. Otherwise, I will hand these videos over to the media!”
Colin was speechless. Even if you don't produce the video, I will still handle it "fairly." Don't you know who Lao Ge is? I'm here to help Lao Ge, not to help these two shameless bastard cops.
Now, with irrefutable evidence, the two policemen have no room for rebuttal.
Colin threatened them: "Come back with me for questioning! You two bastards have completely disgraced the police!"
The two policemen, heads bowed and gritting their teeth, glared at Luca and Robert before being led away from the scene by the other officers.
Colin pretended to invite Luca to come another day so the police could take a statement, and then left with his men.
You stopped corrupt police officers from extorting money from businesses and upheld the peace of the restaurants.

At the store entrance, Luca smiled and extended his hand, "Thank you for standing up and testifying for me."
Robert smiled faintly and said, "I just don't want to see anyone suffer injustice."
The two shook hands, and Luca repeated his name before asking for the other's.
Robert hesitated for a second before saying, "Robert."
Luca nodded: "I also hate those corrupt police officers. How can Boston be peaceful with these parasites in the police department?"
Robert chuckled. It wasn't just the police station; the entire federal government was like this. Police officers extorted money from small shop owners, while he himself had been sent to other countries to "extort" big shots.
Not intending to talk any further, and not expecting to have any further interaction with the other person, Robert exchanged a few polite words, turned and left, disappearing into the street.
Luca stood still, staring at the other's figure in the darkness for a long time.
Who says those who stand in the darkness aren't heroes?
"We'll see each other again soon."
