Chapter 247 239 Republic's Battle Layout?
Chapter 247-239 - The Republic's Battle Layout? (Bonus Chapter 2.3, Total 6k)
Recopi Galaxy, Recopi orbit.
"They've taken the bait, Admiral," Captain Terinard Skreid reported succinctly.
With just this one sentence, General Honor Salima already understood.
The honorary admiral stood before the holographic projection platform, watching the Peremian Alliance fleet gradually assemble in the Lundili system through intermittent updates and reports.
They are no longer adopting a surprise attack posture, but are instead conserving their strength.
The flight path is not a straight line, but an unpredictable detour, and often even relies on luck to jump in areas where there are no reliable space routes.
From a distance, they appear to converge toward Rendili like a whirlpool, as if water were flowing into a deep eddy.
That analogy is quite apt, isn't it?
"Order Captain Dodonna to intercept enemy ships as much as possible during their voyage," she commanded. "We cannot allow them to complete their assembly without interference."
"Excuse my bluntness, sir," Terinard Skredder straightened up, "our entire strategy depends on reinforcements. We face three enemy fleets that outnumber us three to one—unless the Jedi fleet, the reinforcements promised by the High Command, actually arrive."
"You doubt the reliability of the supreme command?"
“I suspect the Jedi.” Captain Skreed clenched his gloved fist, the leather making a slight creaking sound. “The Skywalkers failed to kill Raine Bontrie in Aqdul, and Kenobi let Carly Trillm escape from him, not once, but twice.”
"The Battle of Yagdul was a joint operation," Honorary General Salima pointed out. "You can't blame Skywalker alone without blaming General Yularen, General Jegerod, or Governor Octavian Grant."
"Two Jedi puppets, plus a pampered nobleman who can't even tell the bow from the stern," Captain Skreed muttered in complaint.
These words immediately caused a slight commotion on the bridge.
How many of these officers can be classified as "pampered aristocrats"?
Honor believes there are at least a few, until she trains them all and takes them to the battlefield.
However, she did not entirely agree with his assessment of Octavian Grant.
Grant is a nobleman of the Tapani Federation, but he also considers himself to be from the Coruscant elite class.
In the core world, it's hard to shake off this label.
To advance in the Republic Navy, it's best if your surname can be traced back to an ancient hero.
As far as she knew, Grant was capable, but he was withdrawn and unwilling to operate outside the Tapani control zone.
But she cannot therefore accuse him of nationalist tendencies.
What she could really accuse him of was allowing "Battle Hydra" to infiltrate deep into his core.
On the other hand, if her guess is true, then the Givens of Yagdur must have played a role in it.
“Admiral,” a communications officer gestured to her, “communication received from Exodus… it’s the ‘Open Ring Fleet’.”
The honorary admiral could feel Captain Skreed's gaze burning a hole in her temple.
She ordered the communication to be established. The hologram showed Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi in a white robe, with a young girl standing beside him.
Upon seeing the girl, Terinard Skreid snorted in disgust.
Once the holographic image scan stabilizes, the connection becomes clear.
"I'm curious why the Supreme Command hasn't informed us of the specifics of the reinforcements?" Bloodhound shouted. "Is it because it's the same person who let Carly Trilm escape twice?"
The Jedi General's gentle expression remained unchanged as he placed his hand firmly on his apprentice's shoulder. "I request that we set aside hostile rhetoric until we deal with the invaders, General. Such arguments are more appropriate for Coruscant."
The admiral narrowed her eyes, but finally nodded and waved for her flagship captain to step back. "Alright, so you're our reinforcement? Where's Skywalker?"
“Anakin is currently on the Rima trade route, fighting against the ‘Crypt Makers’ and the Second and Eighteenth District fleets under their command.” Kenobi stroked his beard. “They are preventing Horn Ambigine from bringing those bloody trade activities into the heart of the city, but we don’t need him here. I brought three hundred warships, which are currently stationed in Exodine, south of Rendili.”
"We have a total of six hundred warships, Admiral," Captain Skreid added. "The enemy has less than five hundred."
"So, this is all the forces the Navy has deployed for this operation?" The honorary admiral tried to confirm in order to begin formulating a plan.
“In fact, the Supreme Command didn’t specify which Jedi would be coming to support us because another fleet might join us,” General Kenobi smiled, his mustache twitching slightly. “Jedi General Prokohn and his ‘Hyperion’ task force, though only a hundred ships, however—”
"He achieved his only decisive strategic victory against the 'Battle Hydra' at Metalon," Captain Skreed continued. "Although he nearly lost his life due to a poorly planned boarding maneuver, his victory would have been almost perfect had that mistake not occurred."
“You seem to know his record by heart,” Obi-Wan’s apprentice commented.
Captain Skreed gave the girl a cold look. “Compared to the other naval operations of Jedi Command, it’s hard not to notice this one bright spot. Excuse me, Commander, but I believe Jedi generals are better suited for planetary surface warfare. Veterans like Prokon and Sassi Tin are extremely rare.”
“On this point, I tend to agree, Captain,” General Kenobi said mildly. “Nevertheless, General Procon has been sent to suppress the separatist activities of the Titans and, if necessary, defeat the ‘Battle Hydra’ there. If he can accomplish his mission quickly, the Supreme Command intends to immediately transfer him to our area of operation.”
"Is the Supreme Command being too optimistic?" General Honor Salima leaned back slightly. "His opponent is the 'Battle Hydra'."
“And General Procon remains a hero of the hyperspace warfare era.” Obi-Wan Kenobi shrugged. “I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to postpone the Battle of Rendley a little longer.”
“We can’t afford to waste too much time,” Glory snorted. “Once Carly Trilm rendezvous with the ‘Bastion Fleet,’ she’ll try to take them with her. We must interrupt them at the precise moment to cause maximum damage. The timing has to be perfect.”
"No need to worry, Admiral, the Hyperion is already en route."
“Oh?” A sharp glint flashed in Bloodhound’s eyes, and even Terinard Skredder’s eyes widened slightly. “You don’t mean…?”
"The Hyperion Task Force reports a successful operation." General Kenobi smiled. "If you've been in contact with Coruscant, you should know that, with his support, the Galactic Mining Guild's rule was overthrown by a loyalist coup led by Princess... now Empress Ella Lota... The Battle Hydra was forced to retreat."
Honor Salima smiled.
It was a short, sharp laugh that startled everyone around.
Since the start of this disastrous space operation, the Supreme Command has finally regained its senses and devised a counterattack plan.
And it's led by a Jedi general!
Even Terinard Skreid had to admit that this man knew exactly what he was doing.
“I understand!” she said excitedly. “Captain Skreed, order Captain Otom to continue putting pressure on the Salusts of Lundiri! Let’s plot the final destruction of those bastards from the Pelmian Alliance!”
