Chapter 19 Bianca
Chapter 19 Bianca
Beta quietly left the crisis-ridden Britain.
Meanwhile, at the British Army Special Forces sniper training base, Meva Lake, the operations team leader in charge of the Downing Street shooting investigation, was facing the person she least wanted to see—Bianca. This black female team leader easily evoked images of a Predator upon first meeting her.
As two team leaders for MI6, Medvedeva and Bianca are respectively responsible for hunting down the Downing Street shooter β and the Munich shooter "The Jackal".
However, the first thought that flashed through their minds when they met was not cooperation, but how to trip each other up.
Within this intelligence agency, factional infighting was an open secret. Medvedeva's conservative faction and Bianca's reformist faction were bitter enemies, not to mention that Bianca was Medvedeva's most disliked Black colleague. There was absolutely no room for even the most basic reconciliation between the two.
Bianca started the argument: "Looks like some people are just racists at heart, huh?"
Medvedeva's eyes instantly blazed: "You think I want to waste my energy discriminating against you blacks? Why don't you go ask your fellow countryman who robbed and stabbed my mother at knifepoint and is still at large! Let him explain why I shouldn't hate you blacks!"
Medvedeva continued her sarcasm: "A bunch of livestock and farm tools imported from Africa, now they've learned to pretend to speak human language in the British Isles? Do you think putting on a suit can hide your inferior bloodline? Look at your ape face, even Darwin would doubt the validity of evolution!"
This extremely vicious verbal attack left the training base commander standing to the side speechless.
Worse still, after Medusa's comment, the commander looked at the Black female team leader again and really started to think she resembled a gorilla. To hide this rude association, he could only lower his head and stare at the ground.
It would be very impolite to burst out laughing now.
Bianca instantly flew into a rage, lunging at Medvedeva: "Say that again and see what happens!"
The commander, clearly biased, stepped between the two, his face stern as he reprimanded, "Did MI6 agents come to my training base just to put on a boxing match?"
He deliberately emphasized, "My time isn't spent dealing with these pointless disputes."
Medvedeva put away her sharp tongue with satisfaction, while Bianca, blocked by the commander, had nowhere to vent her anger, and her face turned terribly gloomy.
The commander turned to Medusa and asked in a businesslike tone, "Ms. Lake, what is the purpose of your visit to the training base?"
“We need to investigate,” Medvedeva replied directly. “As the UK’s premier sniper training base, do you have the expertise, including both current trainees and graduates, to conduct 3800-meter ultra-long-range sniping? I would like to ask you for the details.”
The commander nodded and looked at Bianca: "Is your goal the same?"
Bianca nodded with a stern face: "Yes, I would like to inquire."
The commander interrupted Bianca, saying, "Alright, come with me."
This training base is built against the mountains and by the sea, and its unique geographical environment provides excellent conditions for sniper training.
Dense forests, open plains, undulating grasslands, and the unpredictable winds and humid sea breezes unique to the coastline combine to create a professional training ground that closely resembles actual combat.
The commander led the two through the training area. Not far away, a team of snipers were conducting precision shooting assessments, their target a miniature target only 5 centimeters in diameter, 1000 meters away. The commander raised his binoculars to observe, and Medvedeva and Bianca each picked up their observation equipment from the table.
In the distance, sporadic gunshots echoed from the dense grass; sometimes the target could be seen shaking after being hit, and sometimes it remained motionless.
Medvedeva put down her binoculars and cut to the chase: "As the cradle of British military and police snipers, has this place ever trained trainees capable of hitting a target 2.5 centimeters away from 3800 meters? Any period is acceptable."
Bianca immediately added, "To be precise, it's 3815 meters."
"A 15-meter difference?" Medvedeva scoffed. "For a professional sniper capable of achieving a 3800-meter extreme shot, is such a small margin of error worth emphasizing?"
Before Bianca could retort, the commander had already lowered his binoculars and stated decisively, "In my more than fifty years in charge of this training base, I have never seen a sniper who reaches the level you describe."
"Not a single one?" Medvedeva pressed on, "Not even those recorded as dead?"
A suspicion lingered in her mind: although the Downing Street and Munich shootings were not committed by the same person, the tactical characteristics exhibited by the Munich shooter clearly bore the mark of the British Special Forces.
This made her suspect that both β and "Jackal" were likely from the military. The mysterious disappearance of their files might be due to the falsification of their death records through some means, leading to the complete sealing and destruction of the relevant files.
The commander stood with his hands behind his back, his tone calm: "You'll have to seek the answer to this question from the military. I'm just a training base commander, while you are the MI6 agents with investigative authority, aren't you?"
Medvedeva nodded to the commander: "Thank you for taking the time to receive me."
Bianca remained unconvinced: "Is there really no one who can reach this level? It's unbelievable."
The commander gave the Black female team leader a cold look: "Are you trying to provoke me, or are you simply questioning me? The archives are in the military building; go check them yourself, as long as you can get permission."
Medvedeva politely bid farewell to the commander. The commander personally escorted her to the edge of the firing range, and the two exchanged a few pleasantries. However, the commander merely turned his face away coldly towards Bianca, then turned and went straight back to the firing range.
Medvedeva led her investigation team toward the parking lot when Bianca's voice suddenly came from behind: "Can we talk?"
She stopped, her hands still in her jacket pockets. Her golden ponytail, tied back, swayed gently as she turned, gleaming metallicly in the sunlight.
"What are we going to talk about?" Medvedeva raised an eyebrow. "Are we going to have an evolutionary theory seminar?"
Bianca was momentarily speechless, then took a deep breath to suppress her anger: "Only through intelligence sharing can we quickly locate Beta and the Jackals."
Medea, however, showed no intention of cooperating. She feigned a smile and said, "Oh? All the intelligence is archived in the department. If you need it, I can help you apply for access permission; after all, military files aren't accessible to just anyone."
Bianca, from the TV series "Day of the Jackal".
