Chapter 49 Preparation
Chapter 49 Preparation
With a gentle wave of Ouyang's hand, two students who looked like zombies walked over and helped Zhang Wenda, who was covered in wounds, to his feet.
"Don't worry, you're my student. I won't do anything to you. I'll just use Green Dam to erase your memories of the online world."
"You are a student, you should be a good child, the teacher is doing this for your own good."
Looking at the numb faces around him, the weak Zhang Wenda chuckled softly.
It felt like that day's experience was happening again, but I was different now; I had grown up.
He looked at the floor and slowly said, "I'm sorry, I've never been a very well-behaved person since I was a child!"
After he finished speaking, he placed his hand on the yellow kernel and pressed it gently. The next second, the surrounding environment changed instantly.
Like rain fading colors, it washed away the surrounding crowd.
Under the golden light of the setting sun, an old and dilapidated school corridor appeared before Zhang Wenda. Apart from the garbage and dust all over the ground, there were various red "demolition" characters of different sizes on the walls.
The school corridors were deserted; the teachers and students were nowhere to be seen.
The moment the world switched to the adult setting, Zhang Wenda's crisis was instantly averted.
He raised his hand to look at his watch and found that he only had 2 minutes left. He didn't care about anything else and hurriedly walked out of the school.
"Luckily, we had the yellow seed, otherwise we would have been completely finished today."
Still feeling uneasy, Zhang Wenda took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag, immediately feeling much better.
Just as he was about to walk out of the dilapidated school gate, a hunched woman blocked his way. It was Teacher Ouyang, but she looked very old at the moment, with ceramic cracks on her face like wrinkles.
Zhang Wenda didn't run away. At this moment, Teacher Ouyang looked frail and weak, as if she would fall over with the slightest push.
Ouyang raised his head and looked at Zhang Wenda with his cloudy eyes. "You should listen to your teacher. I'm doing this for your own good."
With his breathing becoming heavy, Zhang Wenda put his arm around her shoulder and pointed towards the street outside the door, pointing to the people engrossed in their phones, saying, "Teacher, look at them! Look at their phones! People all over the world are online now!"
"Come on! Tell them! Tell them they're all criminals! Tell them they're all prostitutes and thugs! Say it! Do you dare to say it?!"
"You are a teacher, that doesn't mean what you say is the truth!"
However, Zhang Wenda received no response after speaking. When he looked closely, he realized that Teacher Ouyang in front of him was just a prefabricated man.
She kept repeating the same old words, as if she were still living in the past. No matter what Zhang Wenda said, she was unwilling to accept anything new.
Seeing Teacher Ouyang's expression, Zhang Wenda stopped talking and quickly walked out after letting go of her hand.
This time, the time for the yellow core was even shorter. Zhang Wenda had just walked out of the school when the half-smoked cigarette in his mouth turned into a half-melted lollipop.
Having escaped his predicament, Zhang Wenda stood in a corner, looking at the school in the distance. He saw the teachers and students searching for him inside and out, as if the school was being thoroughly cleaned.
For some reason, Zhang Wenda seemed to have a premonition that he probably wouldn't be able to return to this school anytime soon.
After thinking for a moment, he quickly walked towards Song Jianguo's treehouse. As he walked, he thought to himself, "Why didn't Song Jianguo tell me? In the online world, you can't even say it."
"Why should I say that? Have I ever been to school? How would I know?"
Inside the treehouse, Song Jianguo ate his dinner while rolling his eyes at Zhang Wenda. "What did I tell you? That place is dangerous. I told you not to go. Now look what happened! You've gotten yourself into trouble, haven't you?"
"I haven't gone yet, can't I even ask?"
Zhang Wenda felt extremely wronged at this moment. He just wanted to ask more people for advice and learn more experience before deciding whether or not to go.
He never expected that in this strange, run-down place, his casual question would lead to trouble.
“Hey, Mouse, hey~!” Pan Dongzi’s soft voice called out from outside the treehouse.
When Zhang Wenda peeked out, he saw several familiar faces. Besides Pan Dongzi and his seatmate, there were also a few other people who had gone to the Children's Palace with him.
"How did you find me?" Zhang Wenda climbed down the telephone pole and looked at them in surprise.
“Ever since you got into a fight with that wild child, you’ve been coming to play with her all the time. I knew you’d be here.” After saying that, Pan Dongzi looked around and whispered, “Haozi, my mom told me not to play with you anymore, saying you’ve gone astray.”
"If you won't let me play with you, then what are you doing here?" Zhang Wenda frowned.
“My mom may say what she wants, but you treated me to a big meal today. How could I be so ungrateful?”
After patting his chest and saying this, Pan Dongzi whispered again, "I came here to warn you. The teacher sent all the classmates to look for you. If you run into other classmates, remember to hide."
"I'm speechless. What did I do? Did I kill or set fire to something? Why is this such a big fuss?" Zhang Wenda was almost laughing in anger.
"Your teacher said you've learned to use the internet and play online games, and that you'll be a bad person in the future."
"Bullshit!" Zhang Wenda's voice startled Pan Dongzi.
Zhang Wenda walked around for a moment, then looked up at Pan Dongzi and said, "Go back and tell her that I'm not going to school anymore, and that she can expel me."
"But...won't you get hurt if you're late?"
“I’d rather be tortured every day, I’d rather endure it with sugar than accept what she says! Wrong is wrong!” After saying that, Zhang Wenda climbed back up the pole again.
Song Jianguo, who was eavesdropping with his cat ears perked up, said unexpectedly, "What's wrong with you? You're acting like someone stepped on your tail."
"None of your business! Pack your things, we're leaving tomorrow. I'm fucking going to the online world!" Zhang Wenda said, then picked up his things and hurriedly left.
Seeing this, the aunt who was petting the cat nearby said slowly, "That kid seems to be stressed. He has a lot on his mind."
“He’s like this every day. He even said the same thing when I asked him about his parents. Ugh, he’s like a lunatic.” Song Jianguo said with a look of disdain.
Auntie put down the black charcoal she was holding, came to Song Jianguo's side, rolled up her sleeves, and showed off her strong muscles.
"Don't worry about tomorrow. You don't need to do anything. Just follow along. Aunt Flo will protect Mimi."
"Auntie, you're so kind." Song Jianguo hugged the woman's big belly with gratitude, but the next second, Auntie below delivered another elbow strike.
"Um... it would be even better if you didn't hit me."
