Chapter 30 Parents
Chapter 30 Parents
"Where are your parents?" Zhang Wenda, who was packing his books, paused when he heard Song Jianguo ask this.
"I don't know, maybe he's working the night shift," Zhang Wenda said casually.
"Working the night shift? Then who made this for you?" This time, Zhang Wenda did not answer Song Jianguo's question, as if he had not heard it.
What kind of jobs do your parents do? Do they work night shifts?
"I heard you're having some kind of rule-related trouble right now? Why don't you ask your parents for help? Why are you trying to find a solution yourself?"
Just as Song Jianguo was still asking questions, the next second, Zhang Wenda threw his schoolbag at him.
Song Jianguo shrank back instantly, and his schoolbag flew past her cat ears.
Zhang Wenda ran over and slammed the other man's head onto the table with one hand, almost growling, "If you mess with me again, believe me, I'll make you eat shit!"
Song Jianguo was momentarily startled. This fierce expression on his face was something he had never seen before, even when he was fighting with Song Jianguo.
It was as if I had touched his sore spot.
When Zhang Wenda let go to pick up his schoolbag, Song Jianguo looked at his back with a strange expression.
What exactly happened between him and his parents? Why did he get so angry?
The more Zhang Wenda didn't say anything, the more curious she became.
"After you've eaten, wash up and go to sleep. You can sleep under the bed."
Although Song Jianguo really wanted to object, he ultimately did as he was told, cursing under his breath.
However, when she got under the bed, she was very surprised to find that...
She had assumed the space under the bed would be a cold, hard cement floor, but there was actually a small bed made of rags and cardboard underneath, with some small toys and tools next to it, making it look rather cozy.
Lying back on the small bed, she picked up the tin frog and scratched it with her sharp fingernails. Surprisingly, Song Jianguo found the place he was living in quite nice.
Both of them were exhausted and had nothing to say to each other. Soon the lights in the room went out.
When Zhang Wenda turned off the TV and lay down on the bed, he heard Song Jianguo's apologetic voice coming from under the bed.
"I didn't actually want to provoke you. I've never met your parents; I'm just a little curious about these things."
Zhang Wenda took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes. "This is a good thing. You can't just imagine things because you haven't seen them, and you can project all the good qualities of parents from movies and novels onto your own parents. But reality is not like that; there are no perfect people."
After saying this, he paused slightly and continued, "Everyone can reproduce, but not everyone is suited to be a parent. If you're unlucky enough to have two animals, your life is over."
Upon hearing this, Song Jianguo, who was under the bed, immediately showed a hint of displeasure on his face. "You're a really awful person, talking about your own parents like that."
Zhang Wenda's expression hardened, and his voice suddenly rose as if in response to a sudden shock.
"Yes, you're right. I'm unfilial, I'm an ingrate, I'm not human! I'm just trash! Are you satisfied now? Didn't you realize where my ability to endure pain came from?" For a moment, the room was extremely quiet, with only the breathing of Zhang Wenda and Song Jianguo remaining.
A few minutes later, Zhang Wenda spoke again, this time in a much calmer tone.
"No matter what you think, I don't care about them, you know? Even if I've never seen them, so what? I don't care."
A few minutes later, Zhang Wenda's voice rang out again. "The room is only so big, and they haven't even seen each other once. Do you think I didn't notice? I knew a long time ago, but so what? I don't care! Whether they live or die, or even become monsters like those in the youth center, what does it have to do with me? I don't care! I don't care!"
"I won't go to them, and I won't care about them. No matter how strange or dangerous this world is, even if I'm tortured to death by the rules, I won't ask them for help!!"
After saying all this in one breath, Zhang Wenda sat on the bed, panting heavily, but after waiting for a while, he did not receive any response from Song Jianguo.
Hearing faint snoring coming from under the bed, it turned out that Song Jianguo had fallen asleep sometime earlier.
"Sigh..." The room fell silent again, with no further movement.
The next morning, Zhang Wenda woke up early. He kicked the bed leg, waking Song Jianguo as well. "Get up."
"So annoying! I've only been sleeping for a short while!" Song Jianguo, looking impatient, crawled out from under the bed.
"Come on, I'll treat you to breakfast." Zhang Wenda waved the small bills in his hand.
"What do you mean you're treating me? This is clearly my money..." Song Jianguo dawdled as he followed them out.
Arriving at the bustling breakfast shop, Zhang Wenda ordered two servings of xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and two cups of soy milk, and he and Song Jianguo began to eat.
"I have to go to class today. During this time, you go outside and catch mice and sparrows. After I finish class at 5 pm, bring the money you earned and meet me." Zhang Wenda instructed Song Jianguo on his task while eating.
Seeing the other person grab the bun with their hands, Zhang Wenda frowned. "Are you Indian? Eating with your hands? Use chopsticks, and put your feet down!"
Song Jianguo glared fiercely at Zhang Wenda, then reluctantly pulled a chopstick from the bamboo tube, stuck a bun in it, and put it in his mouth.
Zhang Wenda knew he couldn't always be tough on Song Jianguo. After all, sometimes he needed to be gentle with such a useful tool. It would be troublesome if this guy was always plotting to kill him.
"Don't look at me like that. I've been there, buddy. I'm sure I'll make a fortune someday. Once I become the richest man in the country, you'll be my number one employee, and you'll reap huge benefits."
Just as Zhang Wenda was enthusiastically painting a rosy picture for the other party, he saw other students walking past the breakfast shop with their backpacks on their backs.
He pushed the remaining two steamed buns in front of Song Jianguo, grabbed his schoolbag, and rushed out, saying, "Remember, meet me at the school gate at 5 o'clock sharp!"
It was his first time at the school, and he was a little unsure of himself. Having someone else with him would make him feel safer.
The main reason was that what had happened before had made him a bit of a scaredy-cat. If the Youth Palace could be a monster that could burrow underground, what if this school was some kind of shady school?
So he made a point of getting up early this morning to wait for Fatty and his friends at the school, to find out for sure whether the school was a real school or not.
And what else do they do besides studying at school? Do they have to do some random things like at the Children's Palace?
