Chapter 203 An unexpected call
"Trees!"

Li Yan waved to Hua Junshu.

Seeing that she was almost out, I didn't go in.

In less than half a minute, Hua Junshu was already standing in front of him.

He glanced at Li Yan, then at the car beside him, and asked:

"Have you got a meal yet?"

"I ate two steamed buns. Have you eaten?"

Hua Junshu shook his head. "Not yet. Have something to eat with me."

"it is good."

The two went to a breakfast shop across from the school gate and bought wontons and three-delicacy bean curd sheets.

There aren't many wontons; sometimes it's not enough for girls with big appetites.

Hua Junshu said she wanted Li Yan to accompany her, but she gave Li Yan half a portion of wontons and bean curd sheets.

"I remember I ate a bowl of noodles when I woke up, so I'm not too hungry now."

"Oh." Li Yan glanced at her and nodded.

There was nothing strange about that "oh," but Hua Junshu felt a little uncomfortable with his response.

So he lowered his head and counted the beans and dried tofu on the last piece of bean curd skin in his bowl, and based on the angles and positions between them, he listed a series of mathematical problems to calculate.

After breakfast, Li Yan took Hua Junshu home.

"See? It's very close to the school."

"Ah."

Hua Junshu looked around and nodded, his face expressionless but his body tense.

But there was no fear or timidity.
For her, making this decision was already an immense challenge.

These things are insignificant now.

Upon entering the house, Li Yan continued to introduce it to her.

"The first floor is currently unoccupied, and there are three rooms available. There is one room left on the second floor. Senior, where would you like to stay?"

"Second floor."

Li Yan nodded and led her upstairs. Just then, a small creature darted past.

Hua Junshu wasn't frightened; instead, he clearly saw what had flashed past.

"cat?"

"Yes, a small calico catfish named Laba."

Li Yan nodded and led her upstairs, telling her how he encountered the cat that day.

Upon arriving on the second floor, Li Yan pointed to three rooms on the right.

"The one inside is Zhuzhu's, the one in the middle is Mengmeng's, and the one on the outside near the stairs is empty."

Then he pointed to a room on the other side.

"That room is mine, and the other one is a study."

Hua Junshu nodded, indicating that he understood.

There was a key on the door, but the room wasn't closed.

To allow Laba to explore the house freely, Li Yan even left his own door unlocked.

Jiang Yingzhu's balcony is connected to the main balcony, so even if they close the door, Laba can still go over from the balcony.

Upon entering the room, Hua Junshu looked around and then gazed at Li Yan.

She pursed her lips, and said with a hint of shyness:

"I need to pack my things."

"Oh, then I'll go out."

Li Yan turned around and saw Laba peeking out from the doorway, his expression a mixture of curiosity and fear towards the new two-legged creature.

"She is our friend."

Li Yan said to it.

"Meow~"

Laba wagged its straight tail and turned to explore other places.

Just then, noises came from the other two rooms, indicating that they had been awakened by the noise.

Jiang Yingzhu's loud shouts rang out, and Li Yan shook his head and went to his study to work on wood carving.

He had just picked up a piece of wood when his phone rang.

"Hey, Mom."

"Li Yan, are you on holiday?"

"Mom, what's wrong?" "Do you remember your cousin? He used to change your diapers when you were little."

"Emmm," Li Yan was impressed. Luckily, he wasn't outside to receive it.

"I remember, so what?"

“He got married the year before last, and now his child is one year old. He's inviting us over, but your dad and I can't go. Can you go for us?”

Upon hearing this, Li Yan became somewhat curious.

"Why aren't you guys going? Old Li has a car, doesn't he? He should show it off a bit."

"He already posted it on his WeChat Moments to brag about it."

Ms. Fang said casually, and then continued, "Your dad and I are on a cherry blossom tour, and we're going to Malaysia later."

"I heard it's warm over there, perfect for wintering. We'll come back on the 27th. Can you go with us? It's just for a meal."

Li Yan was speechless. He knew his parents had gone on a trip since December, but he never expected them to have gone abroad.

"Alright, how much will you give me?"

"two hundred."

"That's quite a lot. Last time they came over for your birthday, it was two hundred."

Li Yan recalled that the last time he celebrated his birthday with guests was on the twelfth.

It seems like they have a tradition of celebrating every twelve-year-old there.

He wasn't quite sure either, because as far as he could remember, Jiang Yingzhu had never done it before.

As for the other children, Li Yan couldn't remember them.

"I understand. When?"

"The day after tomorrow, get ready, dress nicely, and don't wear anything inappropriate."

"Oh."

After hanging up the phone, Li Yan took out his phone and sent a message to his cousin asking for his opinion.

Having received the exact location and information of the banquet, Li Yan stroked his chin, pondering something.

Last time, my senior took her to a banquet; should I take her to a banquet this time?

Since the senior students have all brought their own, should we bring Mengmeng along too?

Mengmeng went, so Zhuzhu, as a member of our hometown, definitely has to go too.

Although his family and his cousin's family are not related.

Actually, it's not a big deal for him to bring someone to a banquet in his hometown.

At worst, Li Yan can just give a gift himself.

However, it wasn't absolutely necessary for these three senior students to go.

Li Yan decided to tell Jiang Yingzhu and the other two about this. If anyone wanted to go, he would bring them along; if no one wanted to go, he would just have a nice meal by himself.

Just then, they finished tidying up the room.

At that moment, Hua Junshu offered to make breakfast for them.

Jiang Yingzhu was naturally happy to accept, after all, she had tasted her senior's cooking.

But out of a sense of politeness that she didn't really care about, she pretended to decline while leading her senior downstairs into the kitchen.

Mei Mengqian didn't say anything, just followed by her, and would hum in response when called on.

The classic tactic of making a fortune quietly.

Li Yan went downstairs, and after his senior had prepared the meal, Jiang Yingzhu and Li Yan talked about the banquet while they were eating.

"I'm not going." Hua Junshu shook her head. She had a reason for going last time, so why would she go this time? Was she really going to pretend to be Li Yan's girlfriend?

"I'm not going either." Mei Mengqian shook her head, staring at Li Yan's forehead for a few moments, suspecting that there was nothing left inside.

Is this the kind of occasion you can just go to casually?

Jiang Yingzhu also shook her head. Although she really wanted to eat, she resisted the urge.

In fact, after her father became successful, he rarely had the chance to go back to his hometown for banquets.

For most people, when Jiang Ye invites them, it's just a matter of Jiang Ye returning a red envelope.

"If it's something important happening in your uncle's or aunt's family, I'm willing to go."

Grandma Li Yan was actually a distant relative of Grandpa Jiang Yingzhu. It was because of this kinship and proximity that the two families were in contact.

"Then you can look forward to it."

Li Yan knew what she was thinking, so he nodded. He remembered that his uncle would have a child after the Lunar New Year this year.

"Really?" Jiang Yingzhu sensed the unspoken meaning in his words.

"The person who lies to me will never be able to eat four dishes and a soup in their lifetime."
