Theodore and Bernie became famous.

Their names are known throughout the city. Their fame is even spreading to the surrounding areas.

The surrounding counties also knew that Felton had produced a pair of brilliant detectives.

Their story started to become increasingly outlandish, and then, inexplicably, the Felton Star became a minor sensation, even rising to the ranks of second-tier mainstream newspapers.

The kidnapping case was brought to a successful conclusion, but another case is far from over.

Bernie came to work as usual the next day, which surprised many people.

He thanked his colleagues one by one, and after receiving another wave of concern, he and Theodore threw themselves into the case.

Their investigation into Cynthia's murder of her husband was interrupted by the kidnapping, but the kidnapping also provided them with more clues.

They interrogated Cynthia for the third time.

The main task is to review and organize the previous statements.

Before the interrogation ended, Cynthia begged them to let her see Donald Moore, and this time Theodore did not refuse.

At first, she was timid, silent, and clingy, but she was quickly attracted by the toys given to her by her colleagues and played with them so enthusiastically that she forgot all about them.

After thinking it over for a while, Theodore decided to go and see for himself this weekend.

After get off work, Theodore hesitated for a long time before making a call to DC.

Ms. Gandy answered the phone.

Theodore inquired about Samuel's case and, after waiting a few minutes, received a reply: nothing had happened.

Samuel seemed to have vanished into thin air.

FBI agents are retracing his planned route in hopes of obtaining new leads.

Theodore listened in silence, hoping that when he joined the FBI and took over the case, he wouldn't still only have those two travel plans in hand.

Then he remembered that he would most likely be sent to Vietnam to run and pull...

Apartment at 4132 Q Street, Washington, D.C.

eight pm.

Hoover, dressed in black pajamas, sat upright at the table. He took out his glasses, put them on, and carefully read the report from Texas, occasionally making some noise.

He would hum in agreement, seemingly satisfied with the report's contents, then frown and let out a soft snort, expressing his disdain.

Deputy Director Thorsen, sitting opposite him, was flipping through a magazine. Every time he made a sound, Thorsen would glance at him.

"Take a look." Hoover pushed a report he had finished reading over.

This report is a transcript of Theodore and Bernie's investigation into the prostitution case, and it also includes newspaper reports from that time.

Thorsen put down the magazine.

Hoover picked up the second report to read.

This report documents the oil field case.

Then came the third and final case: the Teddy Santos murder case.

He read the first few pages very quickly, but slowed down when he got to the last one.

Thorson had already finished reading the second copy and came over to read the third copy with him.

The two men had different focuses. Hoover's focus was on the political struggles behind the case.

He expressed his appreciation for Theodore's ability to escape unscathed, but also criticized his lack of ambition.

He really wanted to discuss with Tolson how to get involved, but unfortunately they had an agreement not to talk about work after 9 p.m. at home.

Hoover smacked his lips, seemingly still wanting more.

Thorsson expressed his admiration for Theodore's talent, especially his ability to make the right choices at every step, which Thorsson greatly appreciated.

If once is a coincidence, what about three or four times?
Tolson held the report, turning it over and over, thoroughly enjoying it.

He was considering bringing the man back to the FBI.

He looked at Hoover with a hesitant expression.

When Theodore ran away from home, Hoover was furious and almost sent agents to bring him back.

He viewed this as a betrayal.

After much hesitation, Thorsen decided to observe the situation further.

Faced with Thorson's praise, Hoover forced a smile, trying to maintain a serious demeanor.

In his heart, he was also wondering: Is this still the same incompetent Theodore Dixon Hoover?
"Alright, alright, stop praising him." Hoover waved his hand, trying to maintain the seriousness of a patriarch. "It's not even certain whether he broke it or not."

Hoover ended the conversation by saying he was going to take a break.

During the lunch break the next day, Hoover, avoiding Tolson, secretly had several similar case files retrieved for review.

Theodore was unaware that Hoover, far away in DC, was secretly monitoring his every move.

He was heading to prison with Bernie, along with Jacob.

They just happened to be traveling together; Jacob was going to visit Carlos Mendoza, while Theodore and Bernie were escorting Johnson, Lawson, and the other two.

The kidnapping case was closed under the watchful eyes of the entire city. The three kidnappers will be transferred to prison for temporary detention pending trial.

The three individuals performed differently.

Paul Anderson and another accomplice were begging for mercy, their fear of systemic punishment in prison reaching its peak.

However, no one paid any attention.

Johnson then started hurling insults at Bernie, repeatedly banging on the car door and lunging at them, making a move as if to seize the gun.

Bernie simply tossed him back over and over again without any overreaction.

His actions provoked Jacob, who was hitching a ride, to sneer.

Jacob asked him if he was really afraid, he could be assigned to the Mexican ward, where no one would bully them and his fellow countrymen would take good care of them.

He pointed at Bernie's indifferent face and Theodore's calm face. "You see, I'm not on their side. These two don't like me."

His words immediately drew Johnson's ire, and for the rest of the journey, Johnson spent half the time cursing at him.

Upon arriving at the prison, Jacob waved to Theodore and Bernie and went to see his compatriot Carlos Mendoza.

He returned to see Carlos Mendoza almost every week, and for this purpose, he specifically found a fellow countryman to take care of him in prison, just to make sure that the other countrymen didn't go too far and accidentally kill him.

After the prison guards checked their identities, they took the three men to the black section of the prison.

It was too bright outside, and the prison guards accidentally assigned the wrong cell blocks.

The handover of the prisoners was quick, but the two men didn't leave; they had to wait for Jacob to return together.

Bernie took Theodore to visit the warden.

The warden's office was luxurious, and he was very welcoming.

Bernie seems to know the warden, and they have a pretty good relationship.

The warden showed concern for young Sullivan's situation and even gave him bags and bags of toys.

The toys are all handmade, and they must have come from prisoners in jail.

Bernie gratefully accepted it.

The two sat there for nearly an hour before Jacob finally came out.
