Bernie didn't know how to comment on Theodore's behavior.

He could only quickly call the detectives in and take Cooper to the bathroom.

They then questioned Dennis.

Dennis had previously refused to budge because he and Cooper had included the cost of prostitution in the expenses of the trial work and reimbursed it to the company.

If the boss finds out about this, both he and Cooper will be fired.

Bernie first showed him Cooper's testimony and then made the same promise as Cooper, after which Dennis broke his silence.

Dennis heard more than Cooper.

Cooper was reading when he went to sleep. Around ten o'clock at night, he heard voices coming from next door, followed by the sounds Cooper heard.

Because he had listened from the very beginning to the very end, Dennis knew what was going on next door and didn't misunderstand like Cooper did, so he went to knock on the door.

Dennis heard Cooper knocking on the door, but he deliberately didn't go out to explain, just wanting to see his friend make a fool of himself.

He admitted that he had sex with the deceased that morning with Cooper.

When asked if he had used the same method as the previous two men to have sex with the deceased, Dennis repeatedly shook his head:

Last week, Bernie postponed his meeting with the renovation company because of a phone scam case. Yesterday, the renovation company contacted Bernie and hoped he could spare some time to meet with them.

The renovation company said they had prepared several renovation plans, and Bernie only needed to choose the one he liked during the meeting, which wouldn't take up too much time.

They arranged to meet at the property Bernie had purchased.

There are more government employees living in Arlington than in Georgetown, and the roads to Arlington are much more congested than those to Georgetown.

The two set off from the third precinct and were quickly stuck in traffic.

Theodore pulled out Cooper and Dennis's testimonies and began to examine them, pondering the case.

Bernie glanced at it, thinking of the part of the confession about the deceased's life, and asked Theodore:

Are there many prostitutes like her in DC?

Theodore looked up at him: "How so?"

Bernie gestured with his hand:
“Imitating victims of sexual assault, pretending to be assaulted.”

Theodore gave him a strange look and shook his head: "I don't know."

"However, considering the price of $150 per case for the deceased, it shouldn't be too much."

Oil workers in Felton earn only around three hundred dollars a month.

$150 is definitely an extremely high price.

Bernie thought of this and asked, puzzled:
Why don't they go to a nicer hotel?

Theodore pulled out the photos of the deceased and showed them to him:
"The deceased was a very good imitator of Anne Halleck."

"She specifically dyed her hair reddish-brown, wore 'slut outfits,' and even registered her name as Anne Halleke."

"All of this is to make guests feel more involved."

"Perhaps the guest requested a single room facing the street at the Riverside Hotel."

Bernie recalled Dennis and Cooper's description of room 511 and sighed:

"These people have really peculiar hobbies."

Theodore shook his head, not finding anything strange about it.

He put down the photo and said, "These people, like Robert Miller, are potential sex offenders."

Bernie looked at him with some surprise.

Theodore explained to himself:

"They are just in the fantasy stage."

"Fantasy plays a crucial role in the process of a law-abiding person developing into a criminal."

“Marino Jenkins started with fantasy.” “This is especially true among x-criminals. For x-criminals, the transition from fantasy to reality is a crucial one.”

"Most people will only remain in the fantasy stage."

“Only a few people will take action like Robert Miller.”

Bernie realized:

"The deceased provided them with an opportunity to put their ideas into practice."

He asked Theodore, "Do you suspect the murderer was the victim's guest?"

Theodore shook his head:

"The deceased served four customers on the night of the incident, and there happened to be four small umbrellas in the trash can."

"But semen was found in the victim's vagina and groin, and this semen should belong to the murderer."

"Cooper and Dennis left at six o'clock, and the deceased was pushed off the building at nearly seven o'clock."

"The murderer must have entered the room after the two testers left and had sexual relations with the victim."

"If the murderer, like Cooper and Dennis, was a guest temporarily hired by the deceased."

There should be five small umbrellas in the trash can.

Bernie countered:

"The four small umbrellas in the trash can belong to four different brands. The deceased's service should not include small umbrellas, and customers should bring their own."

He paused, then couldn't help but mutter a complaint:
"$150 per visit, and they don't even provide a small umbrella. That's really expensive."

"Not everyone carries a small umbrella with them. Perhaps the murderer didn't have one."

He pointed at Theodore: "You don't carry a small umbrella with you."

Theodore looked at him, picked up the briefcase, opened it, and took out several Trojan brand umbrellas from the innermost hidden pocket, waving them around, leaving Bernie dumbfounded.

Theodore shoved the small umbrella back: "There aren't many people like you who don't carry a small umbrella with them."

Bernie shook his head: "Only a few carry them with them at all times."

Theodore countered, "The deceased's four guests all brought their own, only the murderer didn't."

“The deceased provided high-end services, and her fees were not low. It is impossible for her customers not to be able to afford small umbrellas.”

He asked Bernie, "Would you have sex with a prostitute without using a condom?"

Bernie fell silent.

Theodore continued:

"The deceased had numerous old scars on his body, which suggests that he may have been engaged in this kind of work for a long time."

"She should have a relatively clear understanding of the intensity of the struggle when providing services."

"If the murderer was a guest hired by the deceased on short notice, there should not be a large number of obvious defensive wounds on his body."

Bernie disagreed with his statement: "Just because the deceased was sensible doesn't mean the guests were sensible. Perhaps the guests were too excited and failed to maintain proper decorum."

Theodore glanced at Bernie with surprise, then shook his head:
"If the murderer was a customer, and the incident occurred during the course of service, and the customer was too excited and failed to maintain proper control, leading to the accidental death of the victim."

"Her body should have been found in room 511, not pushed out of the window."

He found the cause of death section in the autopsy report and showed it to Bernie.

The difference between dying en route to xx and falling to one's death is vast.

Bernie was convinced, his expression somewhat complicated:

"So the deceased was indeed violated."

"A prostitute who provided sexual services by imitating victims of sexual assault was actually assaulted and killed after providing those services."

He looked at Theodore and asked:
"How can we distinguish between traces left by a customer imitating a victim and traces left by the perpetrator during the actual assault?"

"Without finding any traces left by the murderer, it is impossible to identify the usual methods and identification marks."

If these two cannot be distinguished, it seems that criminal personality profiling is no longer applicable.
