The Magic Empire for 20,000 years

Chapter 6, Six: Alien Invaders

Chapter 6.6. Alien Invaders

After hesitating for a while, Dad finally agreed:
"My dear little Gret, if you must go up, do it as quickly as possible, and then come right back!"

He had originally intended to go by himself, but if the mages hadn't all left, the smaller Gretel would obviously be less likely to be spotted.

Little Greg nodded and tiptoed out of the cellar.

"Whatever god it is, please bless me, all those mages have already left!"

Walking back inside, he found the outside quiet and deserted.

His house showed no signs of having been disturbed or searched; it seemed those mages had no intention of searching it at all.

Little Gret cautiously walked to the table and eagerly drank a large bowl of water.

Feeling the cool water soothe his parched throat, surrounded by the quiet of the surroundings where only the cawing of crows could be heard, little Gretel smiled.

Great, it seems the mages really are gone!
For some unknown reason, this time, those terrifying, magical demons did not go on a killing spree.

They were saved, the village was saved!
Little Gret was overjoyed and turned to go back to the cellar to tell his parents and sister that everything was over.

The next instant, the boy's eyes widened and his body froze on the spot.

Behind him stood a young man with fair skin and handsome features, wearing a luxurious black velvet robe.

Whether it's the black velvet robe adorned with stars or the snow-white skin that clearly shows no signs of sun or rain, everything speaks volumes about the man's status.

The celestial sorcerer.

At his home!
Little Gretel stood trembling, terrified, not knowing what to do.

The monks haven't all left yet!
Will he turn himself into an animal or kill himself?

"Little friend, I'm sorry, I entered your home without permission."

Elian’s tone was very calm, unlike the legends.

"I have a question. I looked at the farmland outside, and there are obvious signs of recent trampling in some areas. What happened?"

Little Gretel trembled uncontrollably, but forced himself to answer with trepidation:
Two weeks ago, some orcs tried to raid the village. The villagers worked together and drove them away!

"Are the harassment of the village by orcs and other monsters common?" the young mage asked again.

“Yes,” Gret answered, trembling. “And goblins, uh, and kobolds. But orcs are the most terrifying, the most powerful!”

El-Erian listened to the child's answer without surprise. In the time of ancient Eldorum, the concept of a nation in a more modern sense had not yet emerged, nor were there clearly defined national borders.

These human villages are actually scattered across the land, but the mages of the floating city of Eldoron claim to rule them.

In this era when human populations are scarce, the vast numbers of non-human races such as goblins, kobolds, and orcs are the greatest enemies of human settlements.

Many villages were destroyed by invasions from orcs and other alien races, and the fleeing humans established new villages in other places. Culture, civilization, and knowledge were frequently interrupted in this process.

"Humans do not have the reproductive ability of goblins, nor the innate magical abilities of elves, and their strength is inferior to that of orcs. Their only advantage is creativity."

"With constant invasions from other races, human villages simply cannot live peacefully, farm, or expand their population."

"No wonder that in the original history, the human population didn't increase much for over a thousand years after the fall of the Eldorian Empire..."

"It will be necessary to organize a purge of the nearby orc tribes in the future..."

El-Erian's thoughts were in turmoil.

He looked out the window, as if making a prophecy, or perhaps a promise:
"From now on, orcs, goblins, kobolds... and other non-human races will never come again."

Little Gretel didn't understand what the mage meant; he just asked, trembling:
"Respected...Master...will you kill me? Or turn me into a little rabbit or a toad?"

Elian shook his head:

"No. The floating city has enacted new laws, and killing surface civilians is now illegal."

Little Grete was so excited he almost jumped for joy:
"Really, really?"

“Really.” El-Erian asked again, “By the way, little one, what’s your name?”

He came to this place because he detected a peculiar aura.

The aura of a dragon.

“My name is Grete. Just like my dad, everyone calls me Little Grete.”

Grete?
Sure enough it was him!

Grete, the future leader of the surface inhabitants' rebellion and a dragon vein sorcerer.

The first "sorcerer" in human history.
