Chapter 30, Chapter 29: The Daring General Saul

Chapter 30, Section 29: The Audacious General Saul

The boy's demeanor seemed completely different from before.

Scalding flames swirled around him, and illusory dragon scales appeared on his skin.

Little Greta's features seemed to become even more perfect, as if he possessed some kind of supernatural charm that made people unable to look away, wanting to approach him and admire him at the same time.

Deathly silence.

Little Gret turned to look at his neighbors who were staring at him—including his parents, who were carrying hoes and rolling pins.

The next moment, Professor Joseph—this universally acknowledged intellectual—broke the silence:

"Little Greta, you're amazing!"

"You are the hero of the village. You saved me, you saved all of us, you saved the whole Rolling Stones village."

Although it's unknown how Little Grete instantly became a high-level mage—a super strong individual even among the mage nobles of the floating city, one in a hundred—it's already a fact.

It was this boy's magic that saved everyone.

After hearing Joseph's words, the villagers came to their senses and exclaimed in admiration:

"Little Greta, how did you do that?"

"When did you become so amazing?"

“It certainly wasn’t taught by Mr. Joseph, right? He just said that he couldn’t do that either.”

Little Grete's older sister, Shiluka—a well-known "top student" in the class—excitedly approached her brother and took the hand of the confused boy:

"Little brother, how did you suddenly become so powerful? I can't even cast the simplest spell, and you've become such a powerful mage!"

"I...I don't know either..."

Little Gretel looked bewildered and instinctively extinguished the flames surrounding him to avoid harming his sister.

—In the instant he completed the action, Little Gretel felt that the power of magic was like his arms or legs, like some extra limbs, obeying his will.

But after all, it's a new limb that has appeared out of nowhere. Mastering it skillfully without harming others will likely take time...

Whoosh whoosh!
Just then, more than a dozen figures fell from the sky.

It was the battle mages who heard Joseph's cries for help and rushed to Rolling Stone Village!

"Joseph, how's the situation? What about the orcs?"

"I never expected that there would still be remnants of orcish soldiers remaining on the land of Eldoron."

The mages landed on the ground and saw the charred orc corpses lying there.

These are the marks of being killed by high-level fire magic!

Judging from the extent of their burns, these orcs didn't even have time to react before they lost their lives.

This scene left the arriving monks wide-eyed and speechless.

"Joseph, tell us, what exactly happened here?"

They looked at Joseph blankly.

……

"What? You're saying this child has suddenly reached a level comparable to a high-level mage?"

“Even just a few hours ago, this child couldn’t understand the most basic arcane formulas?”

After inquiring about the situation, the monks felt like they were dreaming.

If not, with the charred corpses of the orcs still radiating heat on the ground, they would all think it was a ridiculous joke.

However, the facts speak for themselves.

“Actually, I still can’t understand those arcane formulas…” Little Gretel muttered under his breath, rubbing his fingers together. “What did you say? You mean you didn’t even understand the basic arcane formulas, yet you cast magic? And magic of this level at that!”

One of the mid-level mages, at the third ring level, stared at Grete in surprise.

“Yes, Master Mage.” Little Gret replied timidly, his hands clasped nervously behind his back.

He hadn't yet realized that he was now far more powerful than the mage before him and didn't need to show such respect.

"Impossible, this isn't arcane!" The mage who asked the question was completely bewildered.

All the monks turned to look at the tall, imposing man with a commanding presence standing behind them.

"General Saul, what do you think? This is completely illogical."

"Theoretically, he has only been learning magic for a few months, so his magical power shouldn't be that strong!"

"Should we contact His Majesty El-Erian regarding this strange occurrence?"

General Saul lowered his head in deep thought.

Normally, an orc attack of this scale wouldn't have required General Eldoron's intervention.

However, the fact that "remnants of orcish forces still remain in the land of Eldoron" was of great importance, so he came as soon as he had some free time.

General Thor looked at Gret, the boy who was hanging his head nervously, and then at the charred orc corpses, feeling both strange and relieved.

"Regardless, there are still remnants of orcish forces remaining within our borders, which I failed to discover. This is indeed my dereliction of duty. If His Majesty Elion intends to pursue this matter, I, along with several high-ranking mage commanders, bear undeniable responsibility..."

Thor thought to himself.

This kind of problem can be big or small.

However, if tonight, these orcs actually destroy one or two villages, causing the deaths of a large number of people, including the village mage Joseph, the situation would be rather awkward.

Fortunately, this child saved the village!

Now everyone's attention is focused on how he obtained such powerful magic.

Besides Thor, several other mages shared similar ideas.

Fortunately, Grete suddenly transformed into a powerful mage and resolved the trouble.

Without realizing it, I had developed a bit of a liking for this child.

"The power emanating from this boy is far too strange. He doesn't seem to be wielding magic through knowledge, which completely defies our common sense."

"With my current level of knowledge, I cannot explain it."

"If there is any mage in Eldoron who can figure out this strange phenomenon, it would probably only be the High Mage, His Majesty Elion, right?"

"Saul said."

"Then do we need to contact His Majesty Elion urgently?" one of the accompanying battle mages asked.

"I'm still considering whether or not to disturb His Majesty's sweet dreams for this matter," Thor said, bowing his head in thought.

"Forget it, let's first see what level this child's magic has reached."

"If they truly possess the skill level of a sixth-ring high-level mage, then it won't be too late to contact His Majesty!"

Although Joseph claimed that the child's magical power was comparable to that of a high-ranking mage.

But without seeing it with his own eyes, Thor still didn't quite believe it.

Thor walked up to Little Gretel:

"Child, could you try to cast your most powerful magic on me?"
