Chapter 23, Section 22: The Green Dragon's Ten-Year Dream

"Ah!"

Amidst horrific screams, the two chieftains were engulfed by the toxic green gas. Their flesh dissolved, their eyeballs rotted away, revealing their stark white bones, and in an instant, they were reduced to two skeletons.

Chieftain Bloodwolf swallowed hard, watching as these two powerful orc warriors, whose strength was not much weaker than his own, died instantly under the breath of the legendary dragon, and remained silent.

The orcs behind them shuddered when they saw their powerful chieftain die in such a miserable state before their eyes.

"hehe."

The cunning green dragon shut its mouth, a wicked grin on its face, and corrosive chlorine gas seeped from between its teeth.

"You don't think you can just leave my territory whenever you want, do you?"

"Has no one taught you that the dragons within your territory are invincible!"

"When you stepped into my forest labyrinth, you had no choice!"

At the same time, the surrounding forest maze began to writhe once more.

The giant trees began to move, blocking the beastmen's path out of the forest, raising their branches and baring their claws.

Thousands of black crows circled in the air, emitting sharp laughter that didn't belong to them. The crows continued to sneer.

One after another, "two-legged wyverns" and other sub-dragon species that are not true dragons either soared through the sky or emerged from the forest.

One by one, dragonblood goblins and dragonblood kobolds appeared from all directions, wielding weapons, and approached the orcs of the three major clans.

Chieftain Blood Wolf clenched his fists, his sharp upper teeth biting his lower jaw, his body trembling uncontrollably, as if he were engaged in some kind of intense psychological struggle.

Finally, this battle-hardened and valiant chieftain knelt down before the enormous dragon in front of him with a thud.

"Great Green Dragon Lord, Ancient Dragon who rules over forests and mountains, I pledge my allegiance to you on behalf of the Blood Wolf Clan!"

The green dragon smiled.

"very good."

"From this day forward, you shall be the King of the Orcs of the Emerald Mountains. The other two great orc clans shall vanish forever and be merged into the Blood Wolf Clan!"

The brutal blood sacrifice lasted for two months.

Thousands of disabled, sick, over 40-year-old orcs, or simply weaker ones, were thrown into the heart of the forest, into a corrosive pool of blood, where they melted away amidst their cries.

The screams of orcs echoed daily through the forests of the Emerald Mountains.

Forest center.

As the ritual magic reached its peak, the life force of the last orc sacrifice flowed into the blood pool, and Emerald, the green dragon lord, spread his wings.

"What a tremendous vitality!"

"Ten years. I need ten years to fully digest this vitality and integrate it into myself."

"At that time, my lifespan will increase by more than a thousand years, and I will be able to leave this forest freely."

"My magic and physique will also become stronger, and there is even a chance that I will become an incomparably powerful [Mid-level Legend].

"When that time comes, I will launch a war and march north to attack the human kingdom of Eldoron and reclaim the land that rightfully belongs to me!"

The Blood Wolf Chieftain lay prostrate beside the foul-smelling pool of blood, gazing at the massive green dragon, which resembled a small mountain, his face clouded with gloom.

"Ten years? That's a very long time..."

"Chief Blood Wolf said cautiously."

He will be much older then than he is now.

"Ten years is nothing, just a blink of an eye," Emerald said. For a dragon with an incredibly long lifespan, ten years is equivalent to only a few months of short rest for humans and orcs.

“Those humans are cunning…maybe give them 10 years, and things might change…” Chief Blood Wolf hesitated, then stopped.

After experiencing too many setbacks, he was no longer the spirited, reckless, and confident chieftain he once was.

"Ah."

The green dragon sneered dismissively.

"Don't think I don't know about the war that's happening between you and humanity."

"Faced with your primitive orc tribes, those humans were able to entangle with you for centuries, only recently driving you out, relying on strategy rather than brute force."

"Do you think my Dragonblood Legion is as weak and useless as the trash under your command?"

Chieftain Bloodwolf lowered his head, listening to the dragon lord belittle him and the orc clans as worthless, yet he dared not refute.

For a fleeting moment, a strange and blasphemous thought suddenly surfaced in the Blood Wolf Chieftain's mind.

He had a slight hope of seeing this proud dragon...

They suffered setbacks at the hands of those humans.

Just like him back then, so self-righteous?
"Alright, I'm going to take a nap to digest the life force in my body."

"When I awaken from my 10-year slumber, war will break out on earth!"

Emerald the Green Dragon swayed its tail, spread its wings, and prepared to fly back to its nest.

"Don't bother me. And don't even think about doing anything to me while I'm asleep. I still maintain a certain level of consciousness in my dreams, controlling the entire forest and able to issue commands to the outside world at any time."

The Blood Wolf Chieftain prostrated himself on the ground and said in a respectful tone:
"As you command, great dragon king of the forest."

"However, I have a request before you go to sleep..."

"What is it?" the green dragon asked impatiently, retracting its wings.

“My people have suffered heavy losses. I hope that when you awaken in 10 years, we will not have to participate in that war against humanity,” said the Blood Wolf Chieftain, who lay sprawled on the ground.

Emerald the Green Dragon was quite surprised by the orc chieftain's words:
"What? You didn't want revenge? You've changed your minds?"

Chieftain Bloodwolf lowered his head and did not answer.

He did indeed harbor thoughts of revenge when his people first began their migration.

But after witnessing the Green Dragon's atrocities and arrogance, after being forced to kneel and submit for the future of his people, and after witnessing the tragic sacrifice of his people in the blood sacrifice...

Chief Blood Wolf's mindset has begun to waver slightly.

He even felt that his hatred for the green dragon lord might exceed his hatred for the humans.

The boulder at the entrance of the cave slowly moved, automatically sealing off the nest.

A grand dream that will last for ten years has begun.

There will be one more chapter tonight. From now on, it should be two chapters a day (although each chapter might be quite short?).


