Animal Detective
Chapter 42 New clues
Chapter 42 New clues
It was almost 5 p.m. when I got back to the police station.
Just as Song Liang was about to leave, he saw Shen Xin getting out of the car with a dog.
He paused for a moment, then walked over and asked what was going on.
Goodness, it's only been a short time, and there are already cats and dogs everywhere, making the police station look like an animal shelter.
After discussing it, Shen Xin and Chen Chao decided to bring Lele back first.
He was, after all, Wu Jiawang's dog, which was an important clue.
"Is this the dog that Wu Jiawang keeps?" Song Liang looked at Lele in disbelief.
He had heard Yao Wensheng mention it.
Unexpectedly, a few days later, Shen Xin actually found the dog.
It’s amazing!
Because of the million, he is now quite interested in dogs and reached out to pet Lele.
Lele is afraid of stray dogs, but is very friendly to people.
I reckon it was this personality trait that allowed him to survive in the wild for seven years.
Cats and dogs that are not affectionate will not survive long on the streets if no one feeds them.
"And what happened next?" Song Liang asked again.
The dog has been found, but how do we solve the case now?
Shen Xin hesitated for a moment, then reported the events and his own speculations, finally saying, "Anyway, Captain Chen's idea is to treat this as a clue and investigate it first, to find the connection between the Gao family and Wu Jiawang. Once we find that, we can consider other things."
After hearing this, Song Liang looked as if he had seen a ghost, and after a long while, he said, "Xiao Shen, your brain is really... amazing!"
How could anyone come up with such a conjecture?
Anyway, if it were him, he wouldn't have thought of it even in a hundred years.
“But don’t say it.” Song Liang pondered for a moment and said, “There really is such a possibility. Logically speaking, if someone is killed in a car accident, you just need to pay compensation. But what if the person was driving under the influence of alcohol, and is a public official? They might be afraid of going to jail or losing their job, so they might think of hiding the body.”
“In the middle of nowhere, I was afraid that if I buried it there, it would be discovered. Then, like you said, I had a sudden inspiration and thought of burying it in my family’s ancestral grave. Hey, if this grave is not moved, no one will find it for ten years.”
"But it's still creepy to think about. How can you not feel uneasy burying a corpse next to your ancestors?"
He shivered.
Shen Xinyi thought about it and agreed; after all, it was his family's ancestral grave.
This ancestor really went to great lengths, worrying himself sick over his descendants.
As he spoke, Song Liang reminded him again: "It's good that you didn't dig up the grave. Xiao Shen, it's good that you have ideas, but you have to be mindful of the boundaries. You can't act recklessly. You must report any ideas you have."
If you don't want others to know, then don't do it in the first place. Some things, once done, have no turning back.
Shen Xin is such a promising talent, Song Liang doesn't want to ruin him.
Shen Xin nodded quickly: "Director Song, please don't worry if there's anything I haven't told you. I won't do anything reckless."
"That's true."
Song Liang nodded. Shen Xin's ideas were wildly imaginative, but he would report to them on everything he did, which was an important reason why Song Liang liked Shen Xin.
Unlike the arrogant troublemakers in movies and TV dramas, they lack a sense of organization.
He thought for a moment and said, "Xiao Shen, this idea is yours. If the case is reopened and Captain Chen asks for your help, just let him know and go. If you can really help the branch office solve this case, then our station will also be proud."
It's been a seven-year-old unsolved case.
Shen Xin nodded, then looked at Lele in his hands and gave her a questioning look.
Song Liang immediately understood and waved his hand generously, saying, "Keep them. One is the same as two. Anyway, Master Li likes keeping dogs."
Chef Li in the canteen doted on Baiwan, always remembering to save the best food for him.
Shen Xin quickly thanked him and took Lele to the cafeteria to find something to eat.
It's not a criminal investigation, nor is it my own case; that's just how it is. I found some clues, but I couldn't follow up.
Then you feel concerned, like a cat scratching your heart, it's so painful.
As a result, Shen Xin had little interest in going to work the next day.
"Yes." "Okay."
In a certain residential community, Shen Xin maintained a formulaic smile as she listened to a woman in her fifties rant about how her upstairs tenants came home in the middle of the night and started partying, making so much noise that she couldn't sleep and was suffering from neurasthenia.
"Young man, I'm telling you the truth, did you hear that? It feels like you're just brushing me off." The woman's gaze shifted and fixed on Shen Xin.
Shen Xin snapped out of his daze and hurriedly said, "Auntie, I'm listening. Here's what I'll do: I'll go upstairs now and talk to the tenants upstairs."
Come upstairs.
The tenant was a young woman who got angry when she heard the older woman downstairs call the police to complain.
"She even filed a complaint against me, and I've had enough of her!"
“I get off work late, and I have to wear high heels to work, so the first thing I do when I get home is take off my shoes, for fear of making any noise.”
"I'm not exaggerating when I say that I hold back even when I fart, just in case the sound is too loud and disturbs her sleep."
"She even complained about me. She has the nerve to do that. All I did was spill some soup or water on her doorstep once because my trash bag broke. Officer, if she does that again, don't blame me for being ruthless. I... I'll definitely teach her a lesson."
"This is outrageous!"
The girl stood with her hands on her hips, trembling with anger.
"calm."
Shen Xin was startled and quickly advised her to calm down, to discuss things properly, and that he would go down and help her teach that old woman a lesson later.
I went downstairs again and calmed the old lady down, telling her that the girl upstairs promised she would be more careful in the future, which finally appeased the old lady's anger.
Follow Li Dongsheng downstairs.
Li Dongsheng remained silent throughout the entire process, simply observing from the sidelines.
Shen Xin has now been officially promoted and will be leading auxiliary police officers on patrols from now on. This is the final evaluation period.
After getting into the car downstairs, Shen Xin couldn't help but let out a long sigh.
There's really not much the police can do in these kinds of situations.
Both sides have their own reasons, so all we can do is appease both, which is basically just trying to smooth things over.
"What's wrong, feeling bored?" Li Dongsheng seemed to be able to see through Shen Xin's thoughts and asked with a smile.
Shen Xin nodded.
Not counting this one, there have been three police calls today.
One was an argument between two shop owners.
Another incident involved a young woman who refused to pay a taxi fare. After arguing with the driver until he said he didn't want it anymore, she insisted that the driver had glanced at her private parts through the rearview mirror. This angered the driver so much that he threatened to gouge out his own eyes to prove his innocence.
The last one was about a customer buying fruit. After picking and choosing, the customer damaged a few grapes. The owner was unhappy and insisted that the customer buy them. An argument ensued, and the owner called the police.
In the end, Shen Xin paid for the bunch of grapes, and that was the end of it.
Such police reports are truly trivial and uninteresting.
"Alright, alright." Li Dongsheng laughed. "When you first joined the company, I remember you weren't like this. No matter what the emergency was, you were always like a wound-up toy, full of energy."
“You’ve just set your standards too high. You think being a detective and solving cases is what gives you the motivation. But let me tell you, even if you actually become a detective, it’ll be the same. It’s not as good as you imagine.”
"And the pressure of being a criminal investigator is not much less than that of us."
Shen Xin exclaimed in surprise, "Master, you even know about thresholds now!"
This is a new term.
"Who are you calling old?" Li Dongsheng glared at him, then said with a wry smile, "I use a mobile phone now too, I'm keeping up with the times, okay?"
Shen Xin quickly agreed, saying that he wasn't particularly high-threshold, but he was anxious because there was a lead in Wu Jiawang's case.
As luck would have it, Chen Chao suddenly called.
"Xiao Shen, we may have found a clue. I was thinking since you're involved in this case, so I was wondering if you'd be interested in coming along to investigate."
Shen Xin's eyes lit up.
Of course there must be one!
