Chapter 70: Surprising Skills

The piano wasn't perfect; two keys were out of tune, probably because tourists often played it and the hotel owner hadn't put in the effort to maintain it. But regardless, it was still a perfect performance.

When Li Younan finished playing the piece, the surroundings fell silent. Several people had gathered behind him; they were all tourists. Li Younan smiled at them, and then applause erupted.

Li Younan felt a surge of joy; he couldn't forget the embarrassment of participating in a public choir competition during junior high. The more awkward he felt then, the more relieved he felt now.

He chose to play pop music because he knew that playing classical music like Beethoven or Mozart might not attract attention, but popular songs, when adapted for piano, were more likely to resonate with the audience.

After finishing the piece, Li Younan didn't intend to continue playing; he stood up.

Jing Chaoyi's eyes lit up, and she said, "Senior, I really didn't expect you to be able to play the piano! You're truly a hidden talent!" After a pause, she added, "If any of my peers had your talent, they probably would have been eager to find a piano to play as soon as they arrived on the island. How come I've never seen you play before?"

Li Younan gave a vague reply: "It's impossible to carry a piano around everywhere."

Jing Chaoyi nodded in deep agreement: "You're right, that would be too ostentatious." She lowered her head deeply, "Senior, you are so low-key, luxurious and cultured."

Li Younan found it amusing, shook his head, and said, "I'm tired from shopping today, let's go back and rest."

Jing Chaoyi followed Li Younan upstairs, a satisfied smile on her face. She wasn't a piano enthusiast, but the emotions that had inexplicably accumulated throughout the day since that morning were released at this moment, and at just the right time.

If the senior student played one more piece, it would be too much.

Li Younan and Jing Chaoyi returned to their respective rooms.

Lying in bed, Li Younan opened his phone and sat bolt upright upon seeing the data on the short video platform. His follower count had already surpassed 3, and he had only posted three videos.

To Li Younan's surprise, the video with the most likes was the one that seemed unremarkable, filmed shortly after arriving in Xiamen. The video showcased the everyday life of Xiamen and featured an immersive cooking scene.

Because it became popular, Li Younan couldn't help but watch it again. This time, he had a new feeling and felt very relaxed and warm after watching it.

The inbox was flooded with private messages, but Li Younan simply didn't have the energy to read them all.

The comments section wasn't all positive; some said, "It's obviously staged and scripted." Perhaps due to the algorithm, these comments weren't prominently displayed. Li Younan didn't care; there was no need to respond to such criticism.

Afterwards, Li Younan exported the first-person parkour video he shot with an action camera that day and sent it to JK Long.

Without a doubt, Brother Long must have just woken up, because he replied to the message shortly afterward: "This video is pretty good. It can be edited together with the video you sent me before, and it will have a great feel to it."

JK Long then briefly described his idea for the video. In short, he wanted to constantly switch between first-person and third-person perspectives, and then edit together each exciting action from the fixed third-person perspective in the venue with the free-spirited outdoor parkour, which would create a great feeling.

However, Brother Long said with some regret, "It's a pity that the third-person video camera is fixed. If there were some camera movement, the effect would be even better."

Li Younan asked curiously, "Can you shoot videos?"

JK Dragon paused for a moment before slowly sending a message: "Yes, but don't even think about it. I'm not going to film you, haha."

This guy's pretty arrogant. Li Younan was just curious and asked a question, since Brother Long had never told him about his profession. However, Li Younan wasn't angry about the question and retorted, "You're delusional. You're overthinking it. Who asked you to film this?"

Finally, Li Younan added a reminder: "This video needs a watermark that says 'First-person video shot with DJI action camera'."

JK Long asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why did you add this? Did you become a DJI spokesperson?"

Li Younan said, "I wouldn't call it an endorsement, it's more like a collaboration. I can't help it, I need to travel everywhere, and I can't do without money."

It was clear that JK Long wasn't disdainful of Li Younan's willingness to compromise his principles for a living; on the contrary, he said with some delight, "That means your family's financial situation isn't that great either."

Li Younan was speechless and said, "Why do you sound so unhappy? Why do you seem so happy? But I regret to inform you that my family is very happy!"

The other person said in a serious tone, "That's not what I meant. If you were a rich kid, this trip wouldn't be very interesting, and I would feel more accomplished editing the video." Li Younan couldn't help but feel a chill. From Brother Long's tone, there was a strange sense of cultivating a perverse sense of humor.

After a brief chat, JK Long got back to work. It seemed like all he did was sleep and stay up late editing videos; Li Younan didn't recall successfully contacting him around noon yet.

After ending the chat, Li Younan called his mother and briefly told her about his travel experiences during this period.

My mom listened attentively, asking questions every now and then. When Li Younan mentioned something interesting, she couldn't stop laughing.

When she hung up the phone, her mother said earnestly, "Nan Nan, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. I can tell you've really enjoyed your trip."

Li Younan suddenly had a thought and asked, "Mom, if I never work and just travel like this my whole life, will you be angry?"

Mom smiled and said in an annoyed tone, "Then I'll travel with you when I retire. I haven't traveled far from home much yet."

Li Younan paused for a moment, then said, "Mom, when you retire, I'll take you on a trip."

Mom said gently, "Then I'll take out all my savings and retirement money, and the two of us will travel all the time. But you shouldn't forget about finding a girlfriend!"

"Let's not talk about that for now..." Li Younan chuckled and said, "Mom, don't worry, if that day ever comes, I definitely won't spend your retirement money. I'll definitely be very rich, and we'll enjoy life and travel together."

I had just hung up the phone with my mom when Huang Xiaoyang sent me another message: "You went to Xiamen?"

Li Younan's heart skipped a beat. He happened to have something to discuss with Huang Xiaoyang, so he said, "Let's not talk about that for now. I remember your family owns a furniture factory, right?"

Huang Xiaoyang replied with only one word: "Mm".

Li Younan said, "I need your help with something. I'll come see you in a few days."

Huang Xiaoyang replied to the message, "Do you want some furniture? I can send you a set."

Li Younan sent a speechless emoji and said, "Young Master, you misunderstand. I just wanted to ask you to get me some wood for making furniture."

Huang Xiaoyang asked curiously, "What do you need that for?"

Li Younan didn't explain, but simply said, "Don't worry about this."

Huang Xiaoyang was quite straightforward, calmly replying with a single word: "Okay."

The next day, Jing Chaoyi got up even earlier than him.

When Li Younan came downstairs, Jing Chaoyi was alone in front of the piano in the hall, playing out-of-tune notes.

As the two left the hotel, Jing Chaoyi looked around with some lingering affection and remarked with emotion, "I didn't expect this place to be so interesting."

Li Younan nodded and said seriously, "That's how travel is. Don't let some opinions on the Internet influence your views. Whether it's good or bad, you have to experience it for yourself to know."

It was time to leave the island, but Li Younan hadn't gone far when he stopped. "Mission accomplished again." This time, Li Younan had given up hope on his driving skills; there was no doubt about it…

Radio operation skills!?

Li Younan was stunned for a moment, then his eyes lit up with surprise.
