Wasteland Border Inspector
Chapter 56 3 Jiang’s remarks
Chapter 56 Sanjiang Speech
As I pick up my pen now.
I was suddenly struck by the fact that there are very few authors writing reflections on the Three Rivers at Qidian these days.
There was a time when it took people two or three million words and two years to finally knock on the door of Sanjiang and win the highest honor of the new book period.
Therefore, I am filled with emotion every time.
But nowadays, with the increasing frequency of rewriting and resuming books, many authors with fast writing speed and abundant inspiration can post on Sanjiang multiple times a year on both their main and secondary accounts, so they naturally lose interest in Sanjiang.
I remember the last time Sanjin set foot in Sanjiang was four years ago.
Time flies so fast. It's truly moving to be back at this point!
This journey wouldn't have been possible without the support of all our readers, and also with the guidance of our editor YY.
The "Three Rivers Remarks" are different from the "Launch Remarks" (which often involve complaining about being poor). We need to follow the established practice of Qidian and focus on answering frequently asked questions in the book review section.
1. Why does it have the title of a wasteland, but the free period content is mainly about power struggles?
The reason is simple.
The main reason is that the author was tired of the conventional post-apocalyptic novels on the market, so he simply pushed through from beginning to end, crudely setting the world view as follows:
Humans vs. infected, two camps.
The protagonist's goal is extremely singular: to kill all the infected and rebuild civilization.
The growth path is an endless cycle of "killing, killing, killing, and leveling up, leveling up, leveling up," with the power level soaring all the way to "one person can hold off a city," and infected creatures becoming pure upgrade materials.
The supporting characters exist only to highlight the protagonist's strength, ultimately portraying a series of stereotypical characters who worship "personal power".
At first, I really liked the author's style; it gave me a sense of invincible joy in roaming the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
However, as I grew older, I went through the well-known years of the past (those who know, know).
The author's line of thinking has changed somewhat.
Why can't highly centralized forces exist in a wasteland?
In times of peace, we all rely on large collectives, on working together as one to overcome crises.
In a wasteland where people need to stick together for warmth, why do humans split up and let infected creatures ride on their heads?
Therefore, I came up with the idea of a sheltered city.
Just as there are lone wolves who fight alone in this world, there are also lone wolves who do not believe in the collective.
Those who believe in the power of the collective will not cease to exist; on the contrary, they will increase in number due to the difficult circumstances.
A group of people set up the framework of a sanctuary city.
Under a highly centralized system, Sanctuary Cities can naturally develop rapidly, far surpassing the progress of lone wolves who roam the wilderness and ruins.
I call this group of people the "original aspiration faction".
However, people's thoughts are fickle. As the development of the sanctuary city slows down, or it encounters one or two disasters, the situation changes.
Different voices will inevitably emerge internally.
These voices will naturally divide power and prevent collective strength from gathering.
So, back to the question, why do people fight for power and profit?
Only by seizing power can one ensure unity of purpose among superiors and subordinates.
Only by firmly grasping the reins of power can we anchor our common goals, enabling everyone to board the great ship of the collective and sail towards the future.
This process is destined to be full of setbacks and struggles, not only between people and infected individuals, but also between people themselves.
I'm putting this part first because, in the words of other authors, it's about filtering readers—filtering out a group of readers who are tired of the usual post-apocalyptic stories.
But I think the word "screening" is a bit too strong. I firmly believe that the reading experience should be diverse.
I won't reduce the amount of blood and gore and the intense leveling up, but I will add new elements and infuse it with new life.
I look forward to the growth of the protagonist Cheng Ye, not only to his strength being so great that he can "single over a city", but also to him becoming a leader with personal charisma.
When the "ropes" of different factions are twisted into one, those grand ideals will not become empty talk, and will not collapse when the force of the sweeping movement disappears (which seems to reveal something).
Instead, it will coalesce into a stronger force, punching down on the pressing difficulties!
Ordinary people shouldn't be reduced to mere consumables that highlight the dire situation in the context.
When everyone stands shoulder to shoulder.
To use a trendy phrase:
Even a punch thrown by ordinary people like us can be really cool!
2. Why was there suddenly so much background information before the story was released, and why was there no discussion about dealing with the infected?
I've thought about this problem repeatedly.
My fellow authors also suggested that I write these things after the book is published.
But after thinking it over, I still feel that the setting shouldn't be charged for; people are paying for the story.
Therefore, some settings were released ahead of schedule during the free period.
Although this made the early stages a bit slow, thankfully the readers were very tolerant and there weren't many complaints. Thank you all for your understanding, love you all (please be gentle with your criticism~~).
3. The factions seem a bit complicated, and it feels like there are purely evil people involved?
Here I can solemnly guarantee:
When there isn't enough information, everyone seems bad because they all want to use power to achieve their goals. When the infighting gets fierce, it can seem crazy.
But going back to the original intention, since I have already chosen to join the group, it is just a difference in ideology, and I would never have the idea that I want this group to die.
Everyone is trying to improve this wasteland and expand the borders of civilization.
It's normal for some people to walk slowly, some to walk fast, and some to want to rest.
4. Some parts look boring and don't seem very interesting.
This is indeed a personal issue of the author.
My writing skills are still not good enough.
I originally thought that six million words of wasteland experience would be enough for me to keep going, but I found that the difficulty was infinitely high once I started writing.
However, I can still give you all a heads-up here in advance.
My previous book's grades had plummeted by the middle of the semester, but I still persevered and finished writing all the stories in the outline.
This one is the same; it won't just set up shop and run away.
I will not waste your support since you support me.
If you like this story, I will do my best to improve it!
Every donation, every monthly pass, every chapter comment, every message.
I will not let them down.
We will never let this world rise and fall in a flash!
Finally, thank you to all the readers who have made it this far.
Thank you for your support during this time. It is a great honor for me to bring this book to Sanjiang!
Thank you! ! !
