Chapter 108 The Shattered Leng Yunting
The lights in the Leng family's house were still on until midnight.

Qin Yan lay in bed, unable to sleep. She nestled restlessly on the sofa, glancing at the clock on the wall every now and then.

The clock on the wall pointed to the number five; it was already five in the morning.

Leng Yunting has not returned yet.

How could she not know her own son?

How much he likes Liu Jingyi.

However, her daughter-in-law left despite being pregnant, which naturally angered her.

It's clear that her son went too far, otherwise she wouldn't have left so recklessly.

She was a woman too, so she naturally knew how difficult it was for a woman to be pregnant.

at last.

Qin Yan heard some commotion outside. When Leng Yunting walked in, his face was already unbearable to look at.

The coat I was wearing was already stiff and hard.

When I left, it had already started snowing outside, and it's still snowing now.

Why are you only getting back now?

Leng Yunting remained calm and composed, showing no emotion.

The calmer her son was, the more worried Qin Yan became.

When the son first found out that his daughter-in-law had left, things weren't like this.

Leng Yunting finally realized the reality: Liu Jingyi had truly left without looking back.

Knowing her as he did, he knew she wouldn't be in the capital, so he boarded the train.

He knew how much she disliked train travel and how scared she was, but she still left.

Leng Yunting opened his mouth, his voice broken, "Mom, did Yiyi leave any message?"

Qin Yan hadn't seen anyone leave, otherwise she wouldn't have let Liu Jingyi walk away alone!

She truly felt that her son was the cause of all this.

No matter what happens, even if Yiyi did something wrong, she is pregnant, and he shouldn't have done that.

But looking at her son, she felt a pang of guilt, after all, he was her own flesh and blood.

"No."

"She left me a letter with two sentences in it, saying that she was grateful for my care of her, that she could no longer take care of me, that she would take good care of herself and the children, and that I shouldn't worry."

"Ah."

Leng Yunting's expression was hard to describe, but his face looked very unwell.

He was probably frozen stiff by now; his clothes were already rock hard.

Leng Yunting seemed oblivious, and simply said...
"Mom, I'm going upstairs now."

Qin Yan hesitated, but looking at his retreating figure, she couldn't help but say something.
"Don't worry too much. Yiyi is very smart. She can take care of herself."

Leng Yunting pursed his lips, not arguing with his mother, because there was no point in saying anything now.

Right now, all he wants to do is find the person as soon as possible.

Previously, the doctor had said that Liu Jingyi was carrying twins and there was a possibility of premature birth at any time, and that she would have an increasingly difficult time later on.

Leng Yunting was convinced that Liu Jingyi couldn't possibly be in the capital. He spent a long time at the train station looking for trains that might have passed through or departed from the capital that day.

But there were just too many; Leng Yunting couldn't count them all.

Leng Yunting changed out of his clothes and into dry ones. Looking at the tidy room, he felt wide awake.

He looked at the wardrobe, at the clothes that Liu Jingyi had hardly taken with her.

Is she really planning to cut ties with him completely?
But it's the dead of winter, and she's very sensitive to the cold; one or two layers of clothing won't be enough. What if she gets cold and falls ill?
She's so naive, and there are so many swindlers in the world?
What if she gets scammed?
She didn't know if she had enough money. What if she suddenly went into premature labor?
After the baby is born, who will take care of her? What if something unexpected happens?

The more Leng Yunting thought about it, the more his head ached. He threw himself onto the bed and closed his eyes tightly.

But when he closed his eyes, all he could see was Liu Jingyi's image, so he immediately opened his eyes.

He sat up, casually opened the drawer, and found a letter.

The inscription contained five characters: "To be opened by Leng Yunting personally."

Leng Yunting was all too familiar with this handwriting.

Leng Yunting held the envelope tightly, hesitant to open it for a long time.

That thin sheet of paper felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, bearing the judgment he dared not face.

The man took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down and suppress the panic in his heart.

Even when facing cunning enemies and carrying out dangerous missions, with the enemy's gun pointed at his head, he never felt that nervous.

He clutched the letter tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white, afraid to blink, lest everything before him be a hallucination born of his extreme despair, and that if he blinked even once, everything would vanish.

He slowly opened the envelope, his movements stiff and hesitant, and took out the letter inside:

Leng Yunting:
By the time you read this letter, I will have already left.

At the beginning, I did marry you because of Meng Yunfan, I'm sorry.

You married me against your will, and I married you entirely out of calculation. Therefore, we were never meant to be.

I'm leaving; don't bother looking for me.

I will take good care of the child, don't worry.

I wish you will find a lover who truly loves you in the future.

Don't worry. Take care.

At the end of the letter, the words "Don't worry, take care" were like an ice-cold dagger, piercing Leng Yunting's heart.

The room was deathly silent.

Outside the window, the sky was already beginning to lighten, and the pale light seeped in through the gaps in the curtains, but it couldn't dispel the chill in the room.

Leng Yunting held the letter tightly, looking at it over and over again.

I tortured myself by reading those few lines over and over again.

The first letter she wrote to him was so brief.

The letter contained not a single superfluous word. Although she left with grievances, she was still apologizing to him until the very end.

I don't know how much time has passed; perhaps it was just a moment, or perhaps a century.

A few drops of scalding liquid fell onto the letter paper, and a small, dark water stain quickly spread next to the words "Don't worry, take care."

One drop, two drops, three drops...

Leng Yunting's body began to tremble slightly uncontrollably, and his shoulders shrugged silently.

He didn't utter any sobs, only heavy, suppressed breathing, which sounded exceptionally clear in the silent room.

"Yiyi..."

A broken, almost inaudible cry was squeezed out from deep in his throat, carrying an indescribable pain.

He sat dejectedly on the edge of the bed, pressing his heart tightly to his chest, as if it were the last trace of warmth she left behind.

That night, Ms. Qin Yan also didn't sleep well. When she got up, she went around to her son's room and stood at the door listening to the sounds inside. Even so, she knew that her son was destined to have a sleepless night.

The next day, at daybreak, Leng Yunting was already dressed and ready to go downstairs.

Leng Yunting: Wife, please forgive me!

Liu Jingyi: It's too late!
