Chapter 304 Tian Ming Family

Su Miaoyi stared at the small cut in the mask, remained silent for a moment, and then suddenly asked, "Where did Tian Liu go to find her husband?"

Lu Zhishen thought for a moment: "In Yuecheng."

“It’s so far,” Su Miaoyi said.

"Why are you suddenly asking her this? Did you think of something?"

Su Miaoyi shook her head and looked at the mahjong tiles on the table.

"This is too new; it must have been just bought." Su Miaoyi took it out of the evidence bag and smelled it as well.

All I could smell was the stench of blood.

That morning, besides waiting for news from the police, they sorted through clues and also waited for Tian Ming's two sons to return.

There was no good news that morning.

There are more than twenty villages, and it will take time to investigate the suspects. Some villages are larger, some are smaller, some are farther away, and some are closer.

No suspects were found in the villages that were investigated.

News about mahjong
Last night I went to several places that I found out about playing mahjong, and when I counted the mahjong sets on the spot, none of them were missing or out of tiles.

We also checked with families in nearby villages who owned mahjong sets, and none of them had their mahjong sets stolen.

Moreover, most people's mahjong sets are quite old.

Some of these items were recently purchased, but none have been lost.

I asked around at some places that sell mahjong sets, went there to inquire, checked the store's security footage, and found the person who bought the mahjong sets based on the footage.

No one lost a mahjong tile.

They searched several neighboring towns, but still couldn't find out where the five cakes came from.

"What if it wasn't bought nearby, but from a place much farther away?" Chu Xingrou asked.

"Did the murderer come from out of town? Did he buy the mahjong tiles there?" Lu Zhishen said, then added, "It's not impossible. If he bought the mahjong tiles and only brought a five of coins with him and put it in his pocket, no one would see it."

Su Miaoyi sat to one side, looking out the window without saying a word.

A short while later, the officers from the branch office came over and said that Tian Ming's two sons had returned.

The three of them got up and went to Tian Min's house.

I arrived at her doorstep.

I saw that white lanterns were hanging in her house.

The door wasn't closed, and they could hear Yue Hong crying inside.

“When Yue Hong said those things last night, I thought she really didn’t care whether Tian Ming lived or died,” Chu Xingrou said.

“Sigh, they’re just saying that. No matter what, Tian Ming is still a person. They’ve spent half their lives together, and he’s suddenly gone. Yue Hong must be upset,” Zhao Yongliang said.

The four stood at the door for a while before entering the courtyard.

Tian Min was standing in the courtyard when she saw them and walked over.

Her eyes were red and swollen, and her face was very pale.

Su Miaoyi patted her arm as a way of comforting her.

Tian Min lowered her head.

The group entered the room and saw Yue Hong's two sons.

The two look very alike and appear to be only a few years apart in age.

They had reviewed the two individuals' information before coming.

One of them was named Tian Shi, and he was twenty-two years old.

One of them was named Tian Xuan, and he was nineteen years old.

"What are you doing here again?!" Yue Hong leaned against the bed, her hair disheveled, her eyes swollen from crying, and her voice hoarse. She looked terrible. "You can't do anything! The person is dead. What are you doing here? What good are you?"

Tian Min walked to the bedside and gestured to her.

“Can’t you speak? Won’t you let me speak either? Am I wrong? Why can’t I speak?” Yue Hong shouted. “It’s not their family members who died, so of course they think it’s okay. Trip after trip, nothing gets resolved. There’s been a case for three years, and there’s still no result. They’re still killing people. Do they think this case will be forgotten once everyone in this village is dead?”

Tian Min continued gesturing to Yue Hong.

"Get out of here! You good-for-nothing! You're almost thirty and still no one wants you! Other people's daughters all get married early and start supporting their families and brothers early on. You're the only one who's no good! Nobody wants you, and all you do is side with outsiders!" "Mom! That's enough. We have hands and feet, we can earn money and support ourselves. What does it have to do with my sister?" Tian Xuan frowned, his tone sharp. "My sister can get married if she wants to. If she doesn't, I'll support her for life."

Yue Hong picked up a bowl from the bedside table and threw it at Tian Xuan.

There were still some noodles left in the bowl.

Tian Min instinctively tried to shield Tian Xuan, turning around and lunging towards him.

Lu Zhishen pulled Tian Xuan closer to him.

Su Miaoyi pulled Tian Min to her side.

The bowl passed by Tian Xuan's head and smashed on the ground.

"You ungrateful wretch! I went through so much trouble to give birth to you, and this is how you talk to me?!" Yue Hong shouted, then threw a pillow at him. "Who am I doing all this for? It's all for you! How are you going to get married if we don't have money? Am I your mother or is she your mother?"

Tian Shi quickly checked to see if Tian Min was injured.

Tian Min shook her head.

“You’re our mother. Besides giving birth to us, when have you ever cared for us?” Tian Xuan looked at her. “If it weren’t for my sister, I would have starved to death long ago.”

“Mom, we’re back because you gave birth to us. We’ll always remember that kindness. We’ll come back if anything happens, and we’ll still give you the money we used to raise you,” Tian Shi said. “But if you’re thinking of talking about mother-son relationships, that’s not true.”

"Don't even think about comparing yourself to my sister. No one can compare to her in our hearts," Tian Xuan said.

Tian Min stopped them and told them to stop talking.

Yue Hong burst into tears, saying that she was unlucky.

Tian Min also cried.

Tian Shi and Tian Xuan comforted her.

Su Miaoyi and the others didn't rush to ask anything. They waited until they had calmed down a bit before going to the outer room with Tian Shi and Tian Xuan to ask some questions.

"Aren't they going to school anymore?" Chu Xingrou asked.

"I'm not going anymore." Tian Shi touched his buzz cut and spoke frankly, "What's the point of going to school if I got zero in junior high math? It's too embarrassing. There's this idiot in my class who can get 20 points on multiple-choice questions by just randomly filling in the blanks. I write them carefully and I can avoid all the correct answers on the multiple-choice questions."

Chu Xingrou blinked; this was just too unlucky.

“I’m not going either,” Tian Xuan said. “I’m not cut out for school.”

"Working in Changshi?" Lu Zhishen asked.

“Yes,” Tian Shi said. “My aunt runs a dried fruit shop in Changshi, and it’s been there for many years. After my brother and I moved there, my aunt helped us open a meat shop, which is quite close to my aunt’s place.”

“Your sister works for your aunt, so you two live quite close by,” Chu Xingrou said.

"Yes," Tian Xuan said. "The three of us rented a place together and live and eat together."

"Does your aunt know about your father's situation?" Lu Zhishen asked.

"I know," Tian Shi said. "There was something going on at her in-laws' house, so we came back first. My aunt will arrive this afternoon."

"What kind of meat does the butcher shop sell?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"Pork, beef."

"Do you need to remove the bones yourselves?" Su Miaoyi asked again.

“Yes,” Tian Xuan said. “The pork is delivered in halves; we have to remove the ribs and leg bones ourselves.”

Chu Xingrou and Lu Zhishen both raised their eyes.

Tian Shi is about 175 cm tall and weighs about 65 kg.

Tian Xuan is taller.

Su Miaoyi then asked, "Do you know Wan Shuang?"

"Yes, I know." They both nodded.

"How is she?" Su Miaoyi asked, looking at the two of them.

When asked how the person was, Tian Xuan snorted and didn't want to talk.

Tian Shi paused for a moment before saying, "Not very good."

 Goodnight everybody.
