Chapter 300 Mask
Cornfields outside the village.

The cornfields are also on the mountain, but in a lower area and closer to the road.

Tian Ming collapsed in the cornfield.

A lot of the corn around him had also fallen over.

Tian Ming's hands and feet were bound, and a hemp rope was tied around his neck.

The person was lying on their side on the ground.

The powerful flashlight shone on him, making him clearly visible.

The ground was covered in blood, and he was covered in blood as well. He had bled a lot, and even his face was covered in blood.

Su Miaoyi walked closer and took a look.

Tian Ming's face was scratched and covered in wounds.

Yue Hong and Tian Min also came over.

The two pushed aside the people standing in front of them and looked at the person lying on the ground.

Yue Hong plopped down on the ground.

Tian Min was stunned for a moment before kneeling down as well.

Yue Hong burst into tears, crying as she said, "Why is my life so miserable?! How am I supposed to live like this?! How am I going to manage on my own from now on?!"

Tian Min also knelt down beside her and cried, hugging Yue Hong and crying.

The police tried to pull the two people up, but they couldn't.

Su Miaoyi squatted down next to the corpse and looked up at Yue Hong and Tian Min. Both of them were crying very sadly.

Lu Zhishen and Chu Xingrou shone their flashlights into the cornfield next to them, looking around.

Su Miaoyi examined the body and found that rigor mortis had already occurred, estimating that the time of death was about six hours ago.

Six hours was roughly the time it would take Tian Ming to return to Yanjing Village after playing cards.

It was already dark by then.

Someone took him to a cornfield and killed him there.

During the day, the fallen corn would be clearly visible, but at night, on a mountain outside the village, there are almost no people on the road. Even if there were people, it would be difficult to notice the fallen corn in such darkness.

They took detailed photos of the body, including the way the wrists and ankles were tied.

Then Su Miaoyi and Duan Wenrui turned the body over so that his face was up and examined him.

Tian Ming had many wounds on his body, and his face was badly scratched, but it was still possible to recognize him.

Su Miaoyi counted the wounds on his body.

There were sixteen wounds in total, on his arms, chest, abdomen, thighs and calves.

Some wounds were deep, some shallow; some appeared to have severed arteries, resulting in significant bleeding.

The wound on my abdomen was very deep; it probably touched my liver.

The wound on his chest wasn't very deep.

The wounds on his arms and thighs were of varying depths.

The rope around his neck wasn't very tight.

There were ligature marks on the neck, but the cervical and hyoid bones were not broken; the neck injury was not fatal.

The cause of death would most likely be excessive blood loss.

The bleeding is excessive.

Furthermore, the rope around his neck wasn't very tight, which suggests that Tian Ming was conscious when the murderer inflicted the wound.

The blood and flesh under his fingernails also indicated that he was conscious at the time.

His fingernails dug into the flesh of his palm.

He was in great pain at the time.

Lu Zhishen emerged from the cornfield and walked up to Su Miaoyi: "This."

He handed the mask in his hand to Su Miaoyi.

Su Miaoyi was surprised when she saw the mask.

The mask was exactly the same as the one she saw the killer wearing in the footage. "In the cornfield," Lu Zhishen said, "It looked like it was just thrown in, or like it was left there intentionally."

"A ram's horn mask?" Duan Wenrui looked at it as well.

It looks like a ram-horned god, but it's even more terrifying and frightening.

Su Miaoyi's gloves had blood on them. She didn't touch the mask, but looked at it carefully, and then sniffed it: "The smell of spray paint."

"Hmm," Lu Zhishen said, "I just sprayed it not long ago."

"A newly made mask," Su Miaoyi said.

"It's the Goat Horn God! It's the Goat Horn God!" Yue Hong suddenly shouted. "Ah! My life is so bitter. How could I have married such a person? How could I have married a sinner? I'm going to be a widow at such a young age! Goat Horn God! Please protect me! Please protect me!"

"What are you all doing!" Duan Wenrui shouted at the people around Yue Hong. "You can't even lift one person up!"

Two more people went to Yue Hong's side, helped her up, and took them home.

Su Miaoyi glanced at Yue Hong and Tian Min who had left, then looked at the mask. Apart from being a bit brighter and newer than the one she had seen in the picture, she couldn't see any other difference.

"Captain Duan, Sister Miaomiao, we checked along the way and found footprints going back and forth from the cornfield to the road down the mountain, as well as drag marks. The footprints were erased. However, we found half a footprint on the edge of the road down the mountain and are currently extracting it. It's hard to say whether it's the murderer's."

"Let's retrieve it first," Duan Wenrui said.

“Let’s send the body to the city for an autopsy to check for signs of poisoning,” Su Miaoyi said.

"Okay," Duan Wenrui replied, and had someone bring over body bags.

Su Miaoyi stood up and moved to the side.

As soon as I regained my footing, the scene before me changed.

It was already dark, but a little lighter than it was now.

She walked down the street, muttering curses under her breath.

"Damn it! I would have won in one more round, I'm quitting! They're targeting me! It's all on purpose, they just want to see me lose! I was just getting into a winning streak and they say they're quitting. You're all bastards, sons of bitches! I'll beat you all next time!"

As she was speaking, she suddenly sensed that there seemed to be someone behind her.

She didn't hear any footsteps, but she sensed something was wrong behind her.

She turned around and saw a red ghost mask suddenly looming over her, looming large in front of her.

It's the Ram's Horn God! The Yin-Faced Ram's Horn God! But even more terrifying than the Yin-Faced Ram's Horn God who brings punishment for sin!
She was so scared she wanted to scream.

But because of extreme fear, he couldn't shout out. His legs wouldn't obey him, and he wanted to run but felt like he was rooted to the ground and couldn't move.

In those few seconds of extreme fear and before her body could react, she was strangled by a rope and dragged up the mountain.

They wanted to call for help but couldn't make a sound. They struggled but couldn't break free, so they were dragged up the mountain and into the cornfield.

The corn was all crushed, and she was choked and began to lose consciousness.

Then the screen skipped a moment, like a frame drop.

Then she suddenly fell into darkness, and a pain shot through her thigh. She opened her eyes abruptly and tried to scream.

But his mouth was covered by a person wearing a ghost mask in front of him.

All the sounds were muffled in his throat.

Their hands and feet had been bound without their knowledge.

The masked man covered her mouth with one hand and held a knife in the other, slashing open her chest, stabbing her abdomen, scraping across her arm, and stabbing her thigh.

One cut is shallow, the other is deep.

The knife was aimed at her chest, but the force was misplaced, and it got stuck in her bones twice.

The masked man released her mouth only when she was too weak to shout anymore.

Then the knife began to slash her face repeatedly.

Her consciousness was fading, and everything before her eyes was becoming blurry.

All sensations in my body are disappearing; I can't even feel pain anymore.

Slowly, slowly, she closed her eyes, and all was enveloped in darkness.
