Chapter 92 triggers a diplomatic crisis
The next morning, the rain gradually subsided, and a pale light began to appear on the horizon.

Liang Yi was awakened by the soreness in his left arm. He moved his fingers and found that the swelling in the wound had subsided considerably, proving that the effects of the spiritual spring water were indeed remarkable.

With the help of the good medicine Anmin gave him, he felt that his injuries had healed by more than half.

Such a fast recovery is truly remarkable; it would have been unheard of in the past.

Anmin was still fast asleep, the tear stains at the corners of her eyes had not completely faded, clearly she had not slept well last night.

Liang Yi carefully moved his arm away, tucked the thin blanket beside her, and quietly got up.

The herbal scent in the space eased his tense nerves slightly.

If he could, Liang Yi would love to stay here forever.

Unfortunately, this is just wishful thinking.

As soon as I stepped out of the space, I heard hurried footsteps outside the courtyard gate.

Liang Yi frowned; the wound on his left arm was still throbbing, but he still straightened his back.

When the door opened, it was Old Zhang from the military region's security department, followed by two young officers. All three had mud on their trouser legs, clearly indicating they had been traveling in the rain.

"Commander Liang, I heard you were attacked?"

"Wang Weiguo has gone completely out of control!"

Old Zhang had a loud voice, and when he saw Liang Yi's left arm wrapped in bandages, his face immediately darkened.

He knew that Liang Yi had been to the battlefield, and if a fight really broke out, how could Wang Weiguo possibly be his match?

This was clearly because Liang Yi didn't want to hurt Wang Weiguo, which is why he did it.

Liang Yi stepped aside to let them into the house. Just as he was about to speak, An Min, who was already dressed, came out from the inner room carrying a kettle of hot water: "Comrade Zhang, have some water to warm yourself up first."

The bloodshot eyes hadn't faded yet, clearly indicating that she had stayed up all night with Liang Yi.

Old Zhang took the water glass, looked at An Min's slightly protruding belly, and sighed: "Sister-in-law, you were frightened. This is because we didn't do our job properly, and Liang Tuan was in danger at his own doorstep."

Liang Yi waved his hand and briefly recounted what happened last night, omitting the part about healing in the space and only saying that An Min had treated the wounds with her family's herbal remedies.

“Wang Weiguo doesn’t have that kind of ability. We know so many people, and he has never done anything like this before. I suspect he has someone backing him up.”

As the two were talking, the militia captain ran in, holding a small box wrapped in oilcloth: "Commander Liang, we found this in the hidden compartment of the woodpile!"

Upon opening the box, one finds several shards of encrypted code and a miniature map marking the location of their camp's warehouse.

Old Zhang gasped, "There was definitely something wrong! This bastard dared to collude with external forces to steal supplies!"

Liang Yi had previously thought that Wang Weiguo would at most pass on some messages to the outside world. He really didn't expect that Wang Weiguo could go to this extent.

This is a crime of treason and betrayal of the country; it's punishable by being punished severely.

The hot tea that Anmin brought was untouched, and the atmosphere in the room instantly became heavy.

Liang Yi tapped his fingertips on the table, suddenly recalling the words Wang Weiguo had repeatedly uttered while he was being pressed into the mud.

What about Wang Weiguo's family?

Liang Yi looked up at the militia captain.

“I had someone keep an eye on him early on, and I didn’t dare to disturb him. It was also a coincidence that his mother was visiting relatives a couple of days ago and wasn’t home.”

Upon hearing this, Liang Yi said in a deep voice, "Send people to protect him. Although Wang Weiguo made a mistake, his family is innocent. Now that the enemy agents are desperate, they might use his family to blackmail him."

"You must ensure his mother's safety. Remember that."

Old Zhang nodded approvingly: "Commander Liang is very thoughtful. I'll arrange the manpower right away."

He turned to give a few instructions to the staff member, then turned to Liang Yi.

After they finished discussing their business, Old Zhang told Liang Yi to stay home and recover from his injuries before leaving.

After all, Liang Yi has injured his hand and is indeed unable to move.

After Lao Zhang and the others left, An Min went to make breakfast for Liang Yi.

"Judging from Lao Zhang's expression, I think this matter won't be easy to handle." An Min sighed, full of worry.

This entire camp area was under Liang Yi's jurisdiction, but now that something has happened, the higher-ups will definitely punish Liang Yi for failing to properly supervise his troops.

If the information hadn't been leaked, then things would be fine.

If it has already fallen into the hands of enemy agents, then things could get complicated.

This matter is no longer something that can be considered a big or small issue.

Anmin sighed. She had finally had a few days of peace, and now this had happened.

"Don't worry, it's okay."

Liang Yi reached out and pulled An Min to sit down next to him.

“Wang Weiguo’s matter seems very serious, but I went to see him as soon as I found out about it.”

"It's all thanks to going to see him that I discovered so much."

He pulled Anmin along and took a deep breath.

"Actually, I just wanted to persuade Wang Weiguo. I thought we were colleagues, and I really didn't want him to end up like this."

"However, Wang Weiguo thought I was there to arrest him, and he wouldn't listen to me at all."

If Wang Weiguo had listened to Liang Yi and hadn't made a fuss or done those things, perhaps he could have applied for leniency.

Speaking of this, Liang Yi's lips curled into a mocking smile.

Wang Weiguo is a person who has brought this situation upon himself.

He always felt that he couldn't get promoted because someone was blocking his way.

But they never consider whether it's their own problem.

"I was originally planning to wait... but it was his own choice."

An Min rested her head on Liang Yi's shoulder and said this.

She sighed softly, trying to comfort Liang Yi.

After they finished talking and had breakfast, Anmin was going to take Liang Yi to the clinic.

After examining the patient, the doctor smiled and said, "Fortunately, the treatment was timely and the medication was very good. I will prescribe some oral medication for you to take home and rest."

"See, I told you it was nothing, even Dr. Li said it was nothing."

Liang Yi looked at An Min, who was standing nervously to the side, and said this.

Anmin glared at him, then asked Dr. Li again. Only after confirming that everything was alright did she finally relax.

The two had just returned from the clinic with their medicine when Old Zhang stopped them before they even got home.

"Liang, come with me to the camp quickly, something terrible has happened."

Liang Yi's heart sank. Seeing Old Zhang's expression, he quickly asked, "What happened?"

Old Zhang strode forward and said in a low voice.

"I just received an urgent telegram from my superiors. The U.S. Liaison Office in China has issued a note saying that someone in our camp is illegally detaining their civilian observer. They also said that this matter has caused a diplomatic dispute and demanded that we release the person immediately, or they will file a complaint."

"Civilian observers?"

Liang Yi paused, the wound on his left arm throbbing with pain.

"When did this person ever visit our camp? Is Wang Weiguo colluding with Americans?"

An Min gripped Liang Yi's clothes tightly, her face calm: "Could it be that they're just making excuses? After all, there's a map in Wang Weiguo's box. Maybe they're trying to muddy the waters to cover up their real purpose."

The three walked quickly toward the camp. As soon as they entered the camp gate, a communications soldier ran over with a phone in hand, his voice trembling: "Regimental Commander Liang, it's a call from the Commander-in-Chief. He wants you to answer it personally."
