Eternal God Emperor: Only I Am Emperor One

Chapter 201 Enlightenment in the Meditation Hall

Chapter 201 Enlightenment in the Meditation Hall
A bell rang out from inside the temple, its sound powerful yet clear, the echoes of the first bell barely fading before the next one followed.

Today is the seventh day after the death of Zen Master Liaoyuan. According to custom, the bell should have been rung eighteen times, but it was rung a total of one hundred and eight times before the bell stopped ringing.

It wasn't just for Master Yuan, but also to help the Kunlun Realm human cultivators who had died in battle against the Undying Blood Clan, the Savage Beast Clan, the Underworld Undead, and the creatures of the Void Realm to find peace.

Di Yi followed the monk Wufa into the wooden temple and met the old monk who was ringing the bell.

His white eyebrows were a foot long, his beard reached his chest, and his face was deeply lined with wrinkles, the vicissitudes of life evident between his brows and eyes.

The old monk was broad-shouldered and burly, with dragon tattoos on his bare arms, giving him a fierce appearance.

Upon closer inspection, it was clear that what appeared to be a tattoo was actually two black dragon souls at the Saint King realm.

Abbot of Bodhi Temple, the Black Dragon Monk Ku Xuan.

He walked slowly, his face expressionless, neither sad nor happy.

"Master."

"Greetings, Master Ku Xuan." Di Yi bowed respectfully.

“Benefactor Di Yi, there’s no need to be so reserved.” Ku Xuan gestured toward the meditation hall. “The temple is austere. I’ve prepared a pot of tea to welcome you and cleanse your mind.”

Di Yi did not deliberately show humility and followed the two monks into the meditation hall.

Inside the meditation hall, six Buddha statues are carved from golden sandalwood with dragon patterns, representing the six patriarchs of Buddhism.

There are dozens of wooden carvings of various sizes under the Sixth Patriarch's seat, but most of them are broken, with only seven or eight remaining relatively intact.

"Have you come here for the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm?"

Di Yi frankly stated: "The Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm technique was passed down from my elders, and I only have the first ten palms. Now I have mastered the tenth palm, Dragon Soaring to the Nine Heavens, to perfection. I came to the Bodhi Temple for two reasons: first, to pay respects to my senior brother, and second, to learn about the subsequent palm techniques of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm."

Ku Xuan said, "The Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm is one of the eighteen unique skills of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect. It is the only palm technique. The first ten palms are widely known, but the last three palms should not be passed on lightly."

Upon hearing this, Di Yi felt a chill in his heart. Obtaining the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm today would probably not be an easy task.

"In the Kunlun Realm, there is a saying that all martial arts under heaven originate from three paths, and the nine schools and a hundred schools are found all over the world. The Bodhi Temple is not one to hoard its own skills. However, our patriarch instructed that the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm should not be passed on lightly. I believe that Benefactor Di Yi also practices claw techniques. The temple has the 'Heaven and Earth Dragon Claw Hand' and the 'Maha Dragon Claw Hand.' Benefactor can choose one to practice," Ku Xuan explained.

Di Yi frowned slightly, puzzled, and asked, "Why can claw techniques be passed on, but palm techniques cannot?"

Ku Xuan said, "It's not that it can't be passed on, but that it can't be passed on lightly. To learn the last three palms of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm, one must first undergo a test."

"Oh? What kind of test?" Di Yi became interested.

"Does the benefactor know the origin of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm?" Ku Xuan asked.

"I've never heard of this before. It must have been created by a senior monk of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect," Emperor Yi said.

"It was naturally created by a senior monk, but the Buddhist monk who created the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm was actually just simplifying the complex and simplifying the higher-level Buddhist supernatural power."

"The Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm originates from supernatural powers, but which kind of supernatural power?"

The Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm consists of thirteen palms. Even if one masters the thirteenth palm, it is still only a high-level sacred technique and remains in the realm of sainthood, not yet touching the realm of supernatural powers.

Supernatural powers are techniques that only gods can master, far surpassing sacred arts.

"Originating from the Sixth Patriarch's supernatural powers, the five fingers control the universe."

"What? The Sixth Patriarch's supernatural powers!"

The emperor's expression changed drastically, filled with astonishment.

The Sixth Patriarch was the most recent Buddha in Buddhism, who passed away approximately 200,000 years ago.

The Sixth Patriarch possessed four great supernatural powers throughout his life.

Ninety-nine golden bodies, eleven kingdoms hidden within, heaven and earth reflecting each other, five fingers holding the universe in their grasp.

The Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill practiced by the monk Wufa originated from the first of the Four Great Supernatural Powers, 'Golden Body Ninety-Nine'.

Unexpectedly, the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm also originated from the Sixth Patriarch's supernatural powers.

"I never imagined that the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm would have such a great background. No wonder it is the number one palm technique of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect."

"Master, what trials must one undergo to learn the subsequent palm techniques of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm?"

"Ask Heaven, ask Earth, ask your own heart."

……

The dragon reigns supreme in the sea, while the elephant reigns supreme on land.

The Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm, named after the dragon and elephant, is indeed extremely domineering. However, what truly makes it extraordinary and a Buddhist ultimate skill is the internal Yang energy generated by the palm technique.

When the tenth palm technique, Dragon Soaring Through the Nine Heavens, is perfected, the yang energy within the body becomes ten thousand times greater than that of an ordinary person. After that, it becomes one hundred thousand times, one million times, ten million times...

That level of yang energy cannot be suppressed by cultivation and physical strength alone. It requires either yin and yang to be harmonized and channeled, or seeking the Dao and questioning one's heart, cultivating one's mind to a state of perfect purity and tranquility.

This involves another supernatural power of the Sixth Patriarch: the mutual illumination of heaven and earth.

It illuminates not the heavens and earth, but the human heart.

The Sixth Patriarch's supernatural power was not entirely created by himself. He drew much inspiration from the five eyes and six supernatural powers of Kassapa Buddha, especially his mind-reading ability.

The test that Ku Xuan set for Di Yi was to communicate with the Buddha statue of the Sixth Patriarch in the temple and find his own Buddha heart.

The heart of Buddha is inherent in everyone.

In Buddhism, there is a saying that one can become a Buddha by laying down the butcher's knife.

This sentence doesn't just refer to the knife in one's hand, but to an obsession.

Once obsession is dispelled, the Buddha-nature naturally manifests.

Everyone has different obsessions; some are obsessed with life and death, some are greedy for wealth, and some are infatuated with beauty...

Ku Xuanhe was unable to leave the meditation hall, leaving Di Yi alone inside.

"Does Master think he can succeed?" asked the monk Wufa.

"Only God knows."

Ku Xuan smiled and turned to walk out of the temple.

"Where is Master going?" Ku Xuan said, "Although Empress Chi Yao has killed all the Blood Emperors, there are still many powerful members of the Undying Blood Clan lingering in the Western Regions. Keeping them around will always be a threat. Today, I will leave the mountain to bring peace to the millions of people in the Western Regions."

"On this journey, we will vanquish the demons."

The monk Wufa wanted to go along, but then he remembered that Di Yi was still in the temple and he couldn't leave him there alone.

In that brief moment of hesitation, Ku Xuan had vanished without a trace.

Helpless, the monk could only turn back to the door of the meditation hall, sit by the door, and practice the Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill, using the sacred power of Buddhism to refine the acupoints of his physical body.

Inside the meditation hall, Di Yi emptied his mind, and gradually the sound of Zen chants began to reach his ears.

The sacred soul seemed to pass through layers of water, and the Buddha light before its eyes grew brighter and brighter. It could see Buddhas everywhere, as if it had truly arrived in the Western Paradise.

Buddhas everywhere discussed the Dharma with each other, and the sound of Zen arose from this.

Emperor Yi entered a mysterious state.

The meditation hall disappeared, the Bodhi temple disappeared, heaven and earth disappeared.

He clearly did not use the True Source Demon Eye, but the rules of heaven and earth were clearly presented before his eyes: the Nine Ancient Paths, the Seventy-Two Supreme Paths, the Three Thousand Great Paths, and the Ten Thousand Lesser Paths.

Among them, Buddhism and Taoism were the most active.

The Buddhist teachings and insights of countless Buddhas flowed into Di Yi's holy soul through the rules of Buddhism.

"Too many, too many..."

The Buddha's light quickly engulfed him.

Within the sea of consciousness in the physical body, the azure Divine Lotus underwent a change, its roots drawing upon Nalan Yuanzhen's spiritual power and sacred heart. This sacred heart of the Great Sage of Spiritual Power was withering away at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Within the heart of the Divine Lotus, Buddhist light converges, and on each of the thirty-six petals sits a Buddha image, each with a different form, but all resembling Emperor Yi.

"With no hindrance in mind, there is no fear, and one is far removed from distorted dreams, thus attaining ultimate Nirvana."

Di Yi didn't know whose voice it was.

The Buddha's light completely enveloped him, as if he had formed a cocoon.

I do not know how long it has been.

The incense and candles in the meditation hall burned out, and the ashes cooled.

Outside the door, there is wind, frost, rain, and dew, as well as the fragrance of grass and the chirping of insects.

There were also sounds of people practicing their internal energy.

His blood and qi surged like rivers, and his momentum was like thunder. The Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill of the Unfaithful Monk had reached a new level compared to when he was outside the Divine Platform City.

Di Yi opened his eyes, which gleamed with golden light, and his body was filled with demonic energy, making him seem out of place with the Buddha statues in the meditation hall.

But within his body, there were Buddhist chants and Zen sounds, lingering endlessly.

Upon closer inspection, one can see that beneath the demonic aura lies hidden golden Buddhist light.

This is what is meant by being an inner saint and an outer demon.

Externally cultivate the Nine Revolutions of Heavenly Demon, internally cultivate the Indestructible Vajra.

Within the body, the blood and spirit veins run through the five internal organs and six bowels, gathering like a sea of yang energy. As they wash over the body, the sounds of Buddhist chants and Zen meditation originate from this.

Ninety-nine golden statues, containing the essence of eleven kingdoms.

The body-refining secret technique passed down by the Sixth Patriarch was actually comprehended by Emperor Yi in this meditation hall.

Only then did he realize how foolish he had been to suppress the Yang energy of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm with his physical body.

The Sixth Patriarch's four supernatural powers were combined with each other, complementing each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Heaven and earth reflect each other, five fingers hold the universe in their hands, capable of tempering a golden body and a Buddhist kingdom.

Furthermore, the Buddha Kingdom and the Golden Body allow the other two supernatural powers to exert even greater power.

In the present moment, the yang energy cultivated by the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm can be used to temper the golden body of the Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill.

"Squeak!"

The door to the meditation hall was pushed open, and Monk Wufa woke up with a start, his head gleaming.

"Ah, you've come out of seclusion? I thought you'd be gone for a while."

How long did I stay inside?

"All things considered, two months."

"It's actually been so long."

Di Yi didn't feel that much time had passed, and was somewhat dazed upon hearing this.

The monk Wufa rose and asked with a smile, "Can you sever your attachments, benefactor?"

"Sever your obsession?" Di Yi smiled. "I feel that my obsession is getting deeper and deeper."

"What is your obsession, benefactor? Perhaps this humble monk can offer some insight," the monk Wufa said solemnly.

"Life and death, cultivation, beauty, freedom... I want all the beautiful things in the world. May I ask, Zen Master, what is the explanation for this obsession?"

The monk opened his mouth slightly, stared blankly for a long time, then shook his head and said, "Benefactor, your greed is too great. This humble monk's Buddhist teachings are too weak to enlighten you."

"So, you failed the test and did not receive the inheritance of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Palm?"

"Who says I haven't been tested? I think the Buddhas are quite fond of me." Di Yi chuckled, and a pure, indestructible holy power surged from his body, accompanied by the sound of dragons and elephants.

Monk Wufa stared in disbelief, exclaiming, "Invincible Vajra Divine Skill, Dragon Subduing and Elephant Taming Skill... How is this possible? There is clearly no lineage of Dragon Subduing and Elephant Taming Skill in the meditation hall. How did you learn it?"

The Subduing Dragon and Elephant Skill is a divine skill left by the Fifth Patriarch. The Sixth Patriarch practiced with the Fifth Patriarch for a period of time and incorporated many of the wonders of this skill into his own Five Fingers Illuminating Heaven and Earth.

Later, when the eminent monk of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sect simplified the Five Fingers Illuminating Heaven and Earth technique, he incorporated the dragon and elephant concepts from the Subduing Dragon and Elephant Skill, which transformed it into the Dragon and Elephant Prajna Palm.

"Perhaps Buddha saw my sincerity and specially imparted divine power to me."
