Douluo: This Legend of the Dragon King is not quite right
Chapter 651: The Origin of Lu Jun?
Urged on by Gu Yuena, Lu Jun forced himself to concentrate and carefully observe his surroundings.
They were currently in what appeared to be a hilly area.
The ground was covered with a layer of dark soil that looked as if it had been soaked in dragon's blood, and it felt strangely soft when you stepped on it.
The sparse vegetation grows tenaciously, but most of it is a lifeless gray-green, and its shape is quite strange, twisted and tangled, unlike the plants in the outside world.
Standing atop the small hill where they had landed, their view was obstructed by a faint, wispy gray mist that filled the air, making it impossible to see far and adding to the sense of mystery and oppression.
What made Lu Jun even more uneasy was that his spiritual power, which had just broken through to the Divine Origin Realm, became unusually sharp in this place.
Without any deliberate investigation, waves of desolate, deathly, and remnant dragon might, mixed with endless resentment and bitterness, surged in from all directions like a tide.
In his vision, countless enormous dragon corpses seemed to appear, lying in every corner of this land, their jagged skeletons exposed to the air and time, some even half-buried in the soil, their dragon heads raised to the sky, seemingly still emitting silent roars.
A profound sense of tragedy permeated this land, a sense of heroes meeting their end and glory collapsing.
Lu Jun rubbed his throbbing temples hard. He could clearly feel that ever since he stepped into the small world of Dragon Valley, the weakness that had been suppressing his spiritual essence like a bone-deep affliction had miraculously disappeared.
His body was filled with power again, and his soul power flowed smoothly.
However, this did not bring him any joy. On the contrary, a deeper and more indescribable sadness, like an invisible spider web, tightly wrapped around his heart and seeped into his limbs.
Gazing at the dragon corpses that were so clear in his spiritual perception, an overwhelming sense of grief welled up in his nose, and his eyes even felt slightly hot.
Why is it that after they die, they cannot even have a complete body or a decent grave?
Why leave corpses exposed here, enduring wind, rain, and the erosion of time?
This sudden, intense, and almost real empathy filled Lu Jun with a sense of panic and absurdity.
He shook his head violently, trying to shake off this illogical emotion.
"What the hell?"
He shouted in his heart.
"I am clearly the spirit of the Ice Abyss Sword who has been reborn as a human. What could I possibly have to do with these dragons who have been dead for countless millennia?"
"They're dead, so be it. It's the law of the jungle, the law of the universe. Why do I feel so frustrated and sad?"
Lu Jun doesn't consider himself a cold-blooded person. He values promises, is loyal, and is willing to go to great lengths for those he approves of.
But this almost instinctive, profound pity for the strange dragon corpse far exceeded his normal range of empathy, and was so eerie that it sent chills down his spine.
He himself had no idea what had happened to him.
Why do all sorts of bizarre and incomprehensible things happen one after another as soon as one arrives in the Eastern Continent?
The overwhelming aura of frustration and sorrow emanating from him was so palpable that even Gu Yuena and Wu Siduo, standing nearby, could clearly sense it.
"What's wrong with you?"
Wu Siduo carefully supported Lu Jun's arm, feeling his slight trembling and low spirits, and couldn't help but ask softly, her voice filled with worry. Even Gu Yuena frowned, her purple eyes full of concern:
“Lu Jun, something’s not right with you. If you really can’t take it, rest here for a while and calm yourself down. I can go to the depths of Dragon Valley by myself.”
"I, I'm fine."
Lu Jun waved his hand, took a deep breath, trying to calm his turbulent emotions, and at the same time expressed the abnormality he had felt:
"It's strange, but as soon as I entered here, the suppressed weakness disappeared, and I felt much lighter. But... looking at these dragon corpses, my heart felt heavy, and I felt inexplicably sad..."
Upon hearing this, even Gu Yuena was stunned, her beautiful face filled with astonishment.
"Yeah, what's causing your inexplicable sadness?"
Gu Yuena subconsciously replied, her tone carrying a hint of obvious doubt:
"Shouldn't I be the one feeling sad and indignant? I am half of the Dragon God, the king of the Dragon Clan. At its peak, the Dragon Clan dominated the universe. How glorious was that?"
"These are my people, my warriors... and now they are reduced to being buried in a foreign land, their corpses strewn across the fields..."
As she spoke, as if suddenly contemplating some absurd possibility, she blinked her purple eyes and looked at Lu Jun with a hint of inquiry and amusement:
"Hey, Mr. Lu, you wouldn't happen to be... one of our dragon clan's allies a long, long time ago, would you?"
"After all, those are things from millions of years ago, or even longer. Who knows?"
"Hilarious." Lu Jun himself was amused by this guess, and helplessly tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Millions of years ago? I probably didn't even have a concept of that back then, let alone be an ally of your dragon race?"
"Gu Yuena, your imagination is a bit too vivid."
"It's strange, really." Gu Yuena didn't give up on the topic. She tapped her chin with her slender fingers, raised her eyebrows slightly, and continued to analyze, "Do you really have no memory of anything before you were born?"
"For example, where did you get this Ice Abyss Sword, which surpasses even divine artifacts?"
"As a spirit of an artifact, how did it come into being and acquire such a high level of intelligence... There must be an origin and a process for all of this, right?"
"But why do you seem to have no idea about the cause and effect of all this, as if it appeared out of thin air?"
Lu Jun remained silent.
You ask me, who should I ask?
I myself don't know what the mystery of my origins is all about.
Should I tell her that in my past life on Earth, I was given a time-travel package by a 100-ton truck, and when I opened my eyes, I became a baby in Douluo Continent, and was even picked up by Teacher Leng Yaozhu?
Gu Yuena ignored his silence, stroking her smooth chin, her gaze fixed intently on Lu Jun, as if trying to see right through him:
"To be honest, Mr. Lu, I don't know if it's just my imagination, but I really... always feel that you have a very special quality about you."
"It's like you used to be an extraordinary, incredibly powerful person, and then you encountered some earth-shattering upheaval, suffered unimaginable damage, and were forced to hide your remaining original consciousness in the Ice Abyss Sword to recuperate until the time was right to rebuild yourself as a human..."
"This feeling became even more pronounced and intense after entering Dragon Valley and coming into contact with the ancient aura of the dragons."
"You... didn't you notice anything at all? Didn't you feel something here subtly calling to you? Or something that felt strangely familiar?" (End of Chapter)
