Chapter 258 Daoji Method, Arhat Staff Formation

Chapter 258 Daoji Method, Arhat Staff Formation

"Amitabha Buddha, what a sin, what a sin!"

Master Jiekong chanted the Buddha's name, his face showing a mixture of anger and sorrow.

At this moment, he didn't care that his senior brother had sworn and broken his vow of celibacy. Moreover, his senior brother had inherited the lineage of Zen Master Daoji, who cultivated the mind but not the mouth, and whose temperament was always free and unrestrained.

If it weren't for the need to abide by the precepts, Master Jiekong himself would have wanted to give them a good scolding.

Faced with the evil Buddha's staff that was cleaving down with overwhelming resentment and mournful infant cries, Zen Master Jieyuan's slovenly and scornful demeanor vanished instantly, and a vast, powerful, and unparalleled innate Qi surged into the sky!

Those seemingly murky eyes suddenly flashed with a sharp light, and the innate Qi around his body surged and rippled, even emitting a faint dragon's roar!
"Om!"

With a utterance of truth, Zen Master Jieyuan swiftly extended his right hand, his five fingers outstretched, and the vast primordial energy instantly condensed into an incomparably solid, golden, and enormous dragon claw—the very essence of Buddhist martial arts, the Dragon Claw Hand!
However, this dragon claw, composed of pure Qi, is far more powerful and fierce than ordinary martial arts, and can better demonstrate the true meaning of the dragon. Where the claw wind passes, the air emits a tearing shriek.

"boom!"

The golden dragon claw clashed violently with the resentful staff, unleashing a deafening roar. Golden light and black energy intertwined and eroded each other, the dragon claw holding the staff firmly in place, preventing it from advancing an inch.

Aoki Zangfang's expression changed, and he frantically activated the evil Buddha's form. The three giant mouths spewed out more foul resentment, attempting to pollute and erode the golden dragon claws.

However, Master Jieyuan's Qi was extremely pure and yang. Although the dragon claw trembled slightly under the impact of the resentment, it remained as stable as a mountain.

"Is that all? Then try my 'Three Poisons Transformation Method'!"

The so-called "transformation of the three poisons" is a part of the true lineage left by Zen Master Daoji at Lingyin Temple.

The entire text is a Heart Sutra, which describes various Dharma teachings, but this lineage does not have a real name, because the Heart Sutra was not written by Zen Master Daoji himself.

Rather, it was a collection of fragments of words he uttered during his carefree and drunken moments, which were recorded and compiled by the monks of Lingyin Temple at the time.

Therefore, the scriptures themselves are full of contradictions, paradoxes, and witty remarks, which cannot be comprehended by those who possess great wisdom, great compassion, or great madness. At Lingyin Temple, it is regarded as an extremely dangerous and ambiguous method of spiritual practice.

In fact, this Three Poisons Transformation Method is somewhat similar to the ideas of the Three Demon Sect, but it is far more sophisticated.

Its core meaning is: outwardly appearing crazy, inwardly calming like a dragon; with a mind free of hindrance, one can see the Tathagata.

Practitioners do not restrain themselves through strict rules and regulations, but rather achieve the meaning of "subduing the dragon" through the release of extreme emotions and desires.

Its essence is "to use emotions as a boat and desires as oars to cross the sea of troubles and reach the other shore of freedom."

Buddhism speaks of "greed, anger, and ignorance" as the three poisons. This method of mind goes against this, not suppressing them, but transforming them. The key point lies in the harm of the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance.

Firstly, he used his own greed to acquire supernatural powers.

With an extreme desire for everything—wants of wine, meat, freedom, and saving lives—this intense longing and obsession is directed not outward, but inward. At the deepest level of cultivation, one can transcend distance with the mind, traveling thousands of miles in an instant, like Ji Gong, who was always there for those in need.

This corresponds to the concept of "divine travel": all phenomena are manifestations of consciousness; wherever the mind goes, the Dharma body arrives. The act of yearning for the other shore implies that one is already on the other shore.

Secondly, one transforms one's own anger into Vajra power.

Faced with injustice and evil, unleash true rage. This rage is not personal resentment, but the compassionate rage of "the Vajra's wrathful gaze." Transform this rage into tangible Vajra power, your muscles and bones become like a dragon, your fists and feet contain the mighty power to subdue demons, and your entire body's energy field becomes indestructible.

This corresponds to the indestructible body in Buddhism. The Buddha has a fierce gaze, but also a gentle demeanor. The fierce gaze is also a manifestation of compassion, a thunderous means to sweep away karmic obstacles.

Thirdly: one's own ignorance and delusion are transformed into the wisdom of the extinction of defilements.

Seemingly indulging in their own "obsessions" or "madness," in a state of chaos and ignorance, they are actually directly perceiving the essence of the world.

The saying goes, "Wine and meat pass through the intestines, but Buddha remains in the heart." On the surface, one may appear mad, but inwardly one is as clear as a mirror, able to see the trajectory of the Qi of all things and the cause and effect of karma, and see through all illusions.

True wisdom sometimes appears as foolishness, and the most skillful as clumsyness. It arises from transcending logic and discerning the truth in a mind free of discrimination.

This is equivalent to using one's own mind and nature to tame the three poisons for one's own use, and using one's own desires and thoughts of the three poisons to manifest real and true supernatural abilities through the construction of innate Qi.

One can imagine how gifted, bold, and wise Zen Master Daoji was.

Ordinary people only seek to eliminate the three poisons and attain peace and tranquility, but Zen Master Daoji did the opposite, insisting on turning the three poisons into his means of self-protection.

As the saying goes, geniuses go to the left, madmen go to the right, and only such almost monstrous sages could turn seemingly crazy ideas into reality.

However, this technique is extremely dangerous and can easily backfire; if one is not careful, one will fall into the three poisons.

If one's character is insufficient and one is unable to "transform one's karma," one will completely sink into greed, anger, and ignorance, becoming a madman who only knows how to satisfy primal desires, with power running rampant until self-destruction.

Overall, this is a technique that emphasizes "saving others by first saving oneself, and killing the enemy by first killing their mind."

It does not require detachment from worldly desires, but rather the ability to confront and transcend all one's desires and emotions amidst the bustling world, ultimately achieving "enlightenment and Buddhahood."

As Ji Gong said, "Those who imitate me will go to hell, and those who slander me will go to heaven." Only those with great opportunity and great courage should not try it lightly.

Master Jieyuan also glimpsed some of the techniques and was fortunate enough to master them. It can be said that Master Jieyuan was more like the "stabilizing force" of Lingyin Temple. Although he could not defeat the contemporary Celestial Master Zhang Zhiwei, he could still exchange dozens of blows.

This is the true essence of a great school of martial arts with a history spanning thousands of years.

Their combat strength is between the Ten Elders and Zhang Zhiwei, but it is precisely this kind of existence that is hidden in some major sects.

As for the two heroes circulating in the world of supernatural beings, Master Jieyuan could only chuckle. After all, he had never fought them, and these old fogies were not good at bullying the younger generation.

------

Facing the malevolent Buddha's image, which exuded resentment and possessed even greater power, Zen Master Jieyuan's eyes flashed with a sharp light, and his aura suddenly changed. The originally peaceful and vast Qi now revealed a hint of madness and intensity.

"Greed, anger, and ignorance—these three poisons entangle us, causing suffering for all! Yet, as the Buddha said, afflictions are enlightenment! Today, I will show you, you evil spirit, what it means to 'transform karma through the three poisons'!"

Greed can be transformed into supernatural powers, granting unimpeded divine speed!
The figure of Zen Master Jieyuan suddenly blurred, not because of extreme speed, but as if he directly ignored the distance in space.

His deepest desire to "subdue demons and defend the righteous path" and his strong obsession with "protecting peace and tranquility" combined with his primordial Qi to transform into a strange power that could overcome obstacles.

After all, spatial abilities can be awakened in people with innate superhuman abilities, so spatial abilities are not so untouchable.

With a single step, his figure, like a phantom, pierced through the thick curtain of resentment emanating from the evil Buddha's image, appearing directly beside the image's enormous head.

The disheveled monk's robe billowed, his right hand clasped together like a sword, the tip gathering an intense, seemingly piercing golden light that seemed to penetrate all obstacles, aimed directly at the enormous bloodshot eye on the Dharma image's forehead. "Sizzle—!"

The golden light, like a needle, precisely pierced the bloodshot pupil.

The evil Buddha's appearance let out a shrill, mixed roar. The blood-red eye on its forehead trembled violently, flowing down dark red, filthy liquid. The resentment contained within was actually partially burned and purified by the power of this finger.

Aoki Zangfang groaned, Fa Lian, whose mind and body were injured, exclaimed in shock and anger: "How is this possible?!"

Anger Transforms into Supernatural Powers: Vajra Subdues Demons!
Having landed a successful blow, Master Jieyuan's eyes blazed with fury—the Vajra wrath of witnessing the suffering of innocent infant spirits and the desecration of Buddhism by heretical practices. This fury was not chaotic; rather, it was extremely concentrated, transforming into a tangible force.

"Buzz!"

A dazzling golden light erupted from his body, and he seemed to transform into a pure gold Arhat, his muscles bulging and his bones emitting the roar of dragons and the cry of elephants.

Facing the black tin staff, entwined with countless wailing infant spirits, that swept across the evil Buddha's image, he neither dodged nor avoided, but instead unleashed a punch.

"哐——!!!"

The fists and canes clashed, producing a deafening roar like a great bell. A violent shockwave spread out in a ring, hurling layers of earth and rocks from the ground.

Master Jieyuan's Vajra Fist was extremely powerful and yang. When the infant spirit on the resentful staff touched this pure yang energy, it let out an even more miserable cry, and the black energy thinned out a bit.

The evil Buddha image was shaken back by the punch, its massive body smashing several ancient trees behind it to pieces.

Delusion transforms into supernatural powers; all defilements and ignorance are eradicated!
Just as Aoki Zangfang was trying to stabilize the Dharma image and incite more resentment to retaliate, Zen Master Jieyuan's eyes suddenly became "blind," as if he had fallen into some kind of delusional state, ignoring the surging attacks around him.

However, in this seemingly "ignorant" state, he was able to accurately "see" every node of the energy flow of the evil Buddha's form, and see the fragile connection between the 108 resentful infant spirits and the form's true form.

His body swayed and staggered like a drunkard, just managing to avoid the impact of the several streams of foul resentment spewed out by the Dharma Image.

At the same time, he pointed his fingers in quick succession, and several strands of golden Qi, as condensed as silk, seemed to have a life of their own, bypassing the frontal defense and shooting cunningly at the Dharma Image's armpits, joints, and the energy channels connecting it to the Azure Wood Pavilion on its back.

"Puff puff!"

As the golden thread entered his body, the evil Buddha's movements suddenly froze, his circulation became sluggish, and several small holes appeared on his massive body, constantly emitting black energy.

Aoki Zangfang felt as if his innate Qi was being punctured by a needle, constantly leaking out, and he was extremely horrified.

"The three poisons transform into karma, and the Dharma manifests—the Arhat who subdues dragons, appear!"

Zen Master Jieyuan's voice boomed like thunder, converging the immense power derived from the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance into one. In an instant, countless golden rays illuminated the base of Feilai Peak.

A more solid, majestic, and imposing image than that of the evil Buddha rose from the ground behind him.

This image depicts an Arhat, with glaring eyes, a bristling beard, and muscles coiled like a dragon, exuding an unparalleled aura that subdues all heretics and vanquishes all demons.

His right arm was wrapped with a golden, shimmering phantom of a celestial dragon, its head held high and its power awe-inspiring—the very image of the Arhat who subdues dragons from Buddhist legend.

"Roar--!"

The Arhat Subduing Dragon Dharma Image let out a roar that shook the mountains, and the sound waves spread out like tangible golden ripples, scattering the pervasive black mist of resentment.

The golden dragon phantom that had been wrapped around his right arm broke free and transformed into a golden lightning bolt that seemed to stretch across the heavens and earth, baring its fangs and claws as it pounced on the Netherworld Evil Buddha.

"No! The netherworld guides the mortal realm, and all laws return to one!"

Aoki Zangbo's face was contorted as he frantically drained the power of himself and all the infant spirits within the rosary. His evil Buddha form opened its three enormous mouths, spewing out primordial resentment like ink, which condensed into a huge ghost shield covered with painful faces, attempting to resist.

“Rumble——!!!”

The golden dragon and the ghost shield clashed violently.

This explosion far surpassed any previous one. The blinding golden light and the deep black light intertwined and devoured each other, and finally the golden light completely tore apart and purified the black light with an overwhelming advantage.

The evil Buddha's form emitted a series of cracking sounds as it shattered under the strain. Cracks spread across its massive body, and the rage and cruelty on its three faces transformed into terror and despair.

"puff!"

Aoki Zangfang was struck as if by a heavy blow, spitting out blood. The evil Buddha image behind him could no longer be maintained and collapsed with a crash, turning back into one hundred and eight dull, cracked prayer beads scattered all over the ground. The cries of the infant spirits within them also became weak and feeble.

He himself was extremely weak and pale, clearly having suffered a severe injury.

"My senior brother (elder brother) is incredibly powerful!"

Master Jiekong and Xiao Zizai praised him at the same time, and the surrounding martial monks also showed expressions of reverence.

Extreme fear and resentment flashed in Aoki Zangfang's eyes. He forced himself to gather his qi, and his body transformed into a wisp of black smoke as he tried to escape.

"Want to leave? It's too late!"

Master Jiekong was already prepared, and with a command, he said, "Disciples, Arhat Subduing Demon Staff Formation, begin!"

"Here!"

The monks, who had been waiting in full battle array, shouted in unison, and their long staffs did not attack haphazardly, but danced with a strange rhythm.

With both hands wielding flower sticks, lifting and slashing the sticks left and right; the phoenix nods and soars into the air, leaping and stacking like an Arhat; thrusting the stick to the side, flipping the Arhat onto the body; bowing stance and striking the stick, the Great Sage emerges from the mountain... a front somersault landing, subduing demons and monsters, truly subduing dragons and tigers, ready to unleash its power!
In a short moment, the shadows of the sticks flew and overlapped, as if transforming into a huge cage made of golden stick shadows.

What's even more remarkable is that the innate Qi within each monk is connected through specific footwork and breathing techniques, like hundreds of rivers flowing into the sea, converging into a vast and unified "Qi field".

This "Qi field" is not static, but rather like a living thing, constantly changing form with the operation of the staff formation. Sometimes it is like a dragon swinging its tail, sealing off all directions; sometimes it is like a lotus blooming, purifying evil spirits; sometimes it is like a vajra turning, crushing everything.

The staff held by the monks was not made of ordinary wood, but was made of iron sandalwood from the back mountain of Lingyin Temple mixed with incense and the power of their vows. At this moment, under the infusion of the pure Buddhist energy of the monks, it emitted a faint golden halo.

This Arhat Staff Formation is also one of the treasures of Lingyin Temple!

Master Jiekong's voice was upright and clear, and he gave a soft shout:
"The Buddha's light appears, and ten thousand sticks subdue the demons!"
