Chapter 229 Ancient Shu is full of ghosts and gods
Feng Baobao shook her head, still gazing in that direction, slowly organizing her thoughts: "I don't recognize him, but when he looked at me, I felt something was off."
"How is it strange?" Xu San pressed.
Feng Baobao looked away, looked down at her hands, and then touched her chest, as if trying to find the source of that feeling in her body.
She tried to describe it: "It was like, like there was a hook in his eye that looked right into me. It wasn't the kind of look a bad person would give, nor the kind of look a good person would give."
Xu San's eyes grew increasingly dangerous. Feng Baobao's intuition was always accurate. Could that person just now have been a pervert?
Feng Baobao paused, seemingly at a loss for words, and finally used what she thought was the most fitting metaphor.
"It's a bit like... um... a bit like when I used to be in the mountains, I would squat by the pool and look at the pebbles in the water. The water was so clear that you could see right to the bottom. The pebbles were exactly what they looked like, clear as day, with nothing to hide."
"He looked at me as I looked at those pebbles."
Feng Baobao raised her face, still with that calm expression, but the slight confusion in her eyes had not completely disappeared.
"It made me feel empty inside, and a little itchy and tingly? I can't quite put my finger on it."
Upon hearing this, Xu San's expression became more serious. He looked again in the direction where Han Yun had disappeared, but the place was already deserted.
Can it see right through a baby? And make the baby feel like they've been "penetrated"?
This person is definitely not simple.
He patted Feng Baobao on the shoulder: "Alright, stop thinking about it. It's probably just a strange person passing by with a special aura. Let's go see the other pandas."
"Oh."
Feng Baobao obediently responded, then looked back once more before being pulled along by Xu San, slowly walking forward, muttering things like "Baobao is stingy" and "What bamboo shoots will she bring next time?"
It was as if that momentary strangeness was merely a tiny pebble thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples for a brief moment before quickly returning to the still, deep pool.
But the pebble eventually sank to the bottom of the water.

Qingcheng Mountain.
This place is the foremost of the four famous Taoist mountains, a capital city of immortals. The entire mountain is covered with lush green trees, evergreen all year round, and surrounded by peaks, resembling a city wall, hence the name Qingcheng (Green City).
With its thousand-step staircase and winding paths leading to secluded spots, Qingcheng Mountain is renowned for its tranquility and purity, earning it the ancient reputation of "the most secluded place under heaven." Together with the perilous Jianmen Pass, the elegant Emei Mountain, and the majestic Kuimen Pass, it is known as one of the "Four Beauties of Sichuan."
The reason why Qingcheng Mountain is famous is actually due to Zhang Daoling, the first Celestial Master of the Celestial Master's Mansion.
In the early years of Emperor Shun of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling entered Heming Mountain to cultivate Taoism and founded the Five Pecks of Rice Sect, also known as the Celestial Masters Sect. Heming Mountain and Qingcheng Mountain both belong to the ancient Minshan Mountain Range.
Besides the Celestial Master's Seal, also known as the Yangping Zhidu Gong Seal, the Celestial Master's Mansion also possesses another inherited magical treasure, unknown to outsiders: the Three-Five Male and Female Demon-Slaying Swords.
Du Guangting's *Records of Miraculous Events in Taoism* mentions the Celestial Master's Sword: "The Celestial Master's Sword was forged in five places. It resembles raw bronze, with a five-sectioned, linked hilt. Hidden on it are raised runes and images of stars, the sun, and the moon. It weighs eighty-one taels and is often used to subdue ghosts and spirits, and to ward off evil and wickedness. On the day of his ascension to heaven, he left behind the sword and the seal of the Grand Master, passing it down to his descendants…"
However, the two swords are actually separate. The female sword is kept at the Ghost-Dispelling Well on Crane Cry Mountain, while the male sword is passed down through generations of Celestial Masters.
Han Yun learned about these records while reviewing some of Na Du Tong's secret files.
This Ghost-Breaking Well is the place where Zhang Daoling suppressed the six great demon kings, eight great ghost generals, and a host of ghosts who ran rampant in Sichuan Province. Its importance is almost equivalent to that of the Dragon-Suppressing Cave in Mianshan Mountain, except that Mianshan Mountain suppressed five dragon spirits, while this Ghost-Breaking Well suppresses the ghosts and spirits that ran rampant more than two thousand years ago.
Sichuan is known as the Land of Abundance. It is a basin with frequent fog and a humid climate. It gathers cool and refreshing energy and is rich in natural resources. It not only nourishes people but also spirits.
According to records such as the "Chronicles of Huayang", King Hui of Qin used the promise of "golden oxen producing gold" as bait to lure the King of Shu into sending five strong men to open the Golden Ox Road. Later, he used the promise of offering beautiful women as a ploy. On the way back to Qin, the five strong men pulled a giant snake, causing a landslide that killed them. Qin then used the road to conquer Shu.
You think the Five Ding who opened the mountain really were the Five Ding?
In reality, they are five powerful demon gods worshipped by the ancient Shu Kingdom!
They possessed the ability to move mountains and fill seas, which enabled them to open up the Golden Ox Road with only the strength of five men.
The giant serpent was actually an incarnation of an earth vein spirit. When the serpent was forcibly captured and separated from the mountains by the Five Ding, the mountains and earth naturally collapsed.
Therefore, the Shu region has always been a "birthplace" of spirits and ghosts.
After Zhang Daoling quelled the ghost rebellion, the land of Shu finally found peace. Subsequently, the Celestial Masters of the Celestial Masters' Mansion would send people to guard Crane Cry Mountain to prevent ghosts from escaping.
Later, in addition to the Zhengyi School, branches of the Shangqing School, Beidi School, Qingwei School, and Quanzhen Dao Longmen School also moved to this place to jointly guard it.
Qingcheng can actually be seen as an alternative version of Fengdu City. The Taoist priests in this city are all Ox-Head and Horse-Face, Black and White Impermanence, who guard the ghosts and monsters.
However, so much time has passed, and no one knows what the situation is like at the bottom of the Ghost-Dispelling Well, including the contemporary Celestial Master Zhang Zhiwei.
When Han Yun arrived at Qingcheng Mountain, the first people he invited to visit were the Zhengyi sect members who were stationed there.
Zhang Zhiwei actually had many junior brothers, but they were not described in detail in the original comic. Most of them were assigned to various administrative offices under the Celestial Master's Mansion as the people in charge.
Some outstanding individuals were assigned to important local posts, such as Zhang Xuanting of Mianshan and Zhang Xiaolian of Qingchengshan.
Behind Qingcheng Mountain lies a secluded courtyard rarely visited by tourists.
This is not a Taoist temple open to the public, but a place for the Zhengyi sect to pass on its traditions and practice in seclusion, and it is also responsible for guarding it.
The courtyard walls are ancient and covered with moss, blending almost seamlessly with the surrounding verdant mountains. Only the wisps of incense smoke hint at human presence.
Han Yun knocked on the door knocker, the sound of which was particularly clear in the silent valley.
A short while later, a young Taoist priest opened the door. Upon seeing Han Yun, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he immediately bowed and greeted him: "May the Heavenly Venerable grant you boundless blessings. What brings you here, layman?"
Han Yun returned the greeting, speaking in a calm tone: "Please inform him that Han Yun of the Lingbao Sect has come to pay a visit to the Taoist priest in charge here."
The young Taoist priest dared not delay: "Please wait a moment, fellow Taoist."
A moment later, the Taoist priest led Han Yun inside.
The courtyard was not spacious, but it was extremely quiet and secluded, with an ancient cypress tree whose gnarled branches formed a canopy.
An elderly Taoist priest with white hair and beard and a ruddy complexion was standing under the tree. Upon seeing Han Yun, he stepped forward and bowed respectfully.
"I am Zhang Xiaolian, a humble Taoist priest, temporarily in charge of worldly affairs here. My young master has come from afar, and I apologize for not being able to greet you properly."
The old Taoist priest's voice was gentle, yet it possessed a calm and composed demeanor. His aura was extremely dense and powerful, like a golden bell or a towering mountain, clearly indicating his profound cultivation.
