Douluo Continent: The Twin Sons of the Styx River, Shaking the World and Destroying the Heavens
Chapter 289 Revisiting Blue Star
Chapter 289 Return to Earth
Dragon Kingdom, the imperial capital.
On the outskirts of the city, at the northern foot of a vast primeval forest, stands a heavily guarded military camp. Ancient trees reach for the sky, their branches intertwined, and the only sound is the rustling of the wind through the leaves.
Suddenly, above a massive rock deep in the forest, space rippled like water, and a crack appeared out of nowhere. The next second, a figure plummeted from the crack, carrying with it the lingering aftershocks of the spatial turbulence.
With a "thud," it landed on the cold rock—it was the butterfly that had been caught in the twisting mess.
"Where is this?"
"Congratulations, host, welcome home."
???
Xia Die propped herself up on the rock and looked around. The aura in the air was both strange and familiar, definitely not the energy fluctuations of "Onpharos". A thought struck her, and she quickly realized—this was clearly the Blue Star where she had been before her reincarnation!
Her gaze swept over the dense ancient trees, the entwined vines, and the faint sounds of birds and beasts in the distance. She confirmed that she was in a primeval forest, gradually merging with the world in her memory.
Just then, a shrill wolf howl suddenly shattered the tranquility of the forest, carrying a wild ferocity, and came from the depths of the woods.
Xia Die suddenly looked up and followed the sound—she saw more than a dozen pairs of eerie green eyes light up behind the bushes, and several lithe black figures stepped on the fallen leaves and surrounded her; it was a pack of wolves. Their fangs were bared, and they let out low growls. Their eyes were fixed on Xia Die on the rock, clearly regarding her as prey who had invaded their territory.
However, when the wolf pack approached to within six steps of Xiaodie, they all stopped in their tracks.
A fear originating from the depths of their souls suddenly seized them—not from the seemingly frail figure before them, but from some invisible yet deadly pressure, as if a cold, sharp blade was hanging overhead, and the shadow of death spread and grew in their hearts like a tide.
Bang, bang, bang...
Several sharp gunshots suddenly rang out in the forest, breaking the tense atmosphere. As the gunshots fell, the attacking wolves collapsed to the ground, their blood instantly staining the fallen leaves at their feet.
Immediately afterward, a series of hurried footsteps approached, and a group of soldiers in camouflage uniforms, armed with guns, rushed out from behind the bushes. They moved swiftly, their eyes scanning the surroundings warily, their gun barrels always on alert, and they soon noticed the butterfly on the rock.
Almost simultaneously, all the soldiers turned their guns, the dark muzzles pointing unerringly at the butterfly on the rock. The atmosphere instantly became tense and heavy. The captain in charge frowned and shouted in a deep voice, "Don't move! Who are you? Why are you here?"
Xia Die slowly stood up, dusted herself off, and said calmly, "Excuse me, gentlemen, whether you believe it or not, I came here because of an accident."
"Captain, what should we do? I have a feeling this girl is dangerous," the soldier beside him whispered.
The captain frowned slightly, his gaze fixed on Xia Die, his fingers unconsciously tracing the shaft of his gun. He didn't respond immediately, but instead gestured to the soldiers beside him to remain vigilant. Then, in a deep voice, he said, "Don't make any rash moves. This is a military restricted area; it's suspicious that a stranger like her is here. Surround her first, and notify command. Tell them you've discovered an unidentified person and request further instructions." The captain ordered in a low voice, his tone laced with unquestionable caution.
“Miss, please come with us. We need to ask you some questions.” The captain’s tone softened slightly, but his guard remained. He gestured for her to come.
“No problem.” Xia Die nodded slightly, without the slightest resistance.
I still need to go home once.
"Name?"
"Xiadie."
"gender?"
"Female."
"Race?" "Human."
"Please touch your ears and say it again."
"demigod"
"Race, Elf. Hmm, all recorded." The recorder looked down and made a mark on the form, his tone as flat as if stating an obvious fact.
???
A look of disbelief flashed across Xia Die's eyes—so she'd been directly "expelled from the human race"? But then she thought about it again, and with her slightly upturned ears and otherworldly aura, it was indeed hard for people to believe she was an ordinary human. No wonder they made that judgment.
"Can I leave?" Xia Die asked, raising her eyes, her tone still calm.
“I’m sorry,” the officer opposite him put down his notebook, his tone firm and businesslike, “until we can ascertain your safety, I’m afraid we’ll have to keep you here for the time being.”
Xia Die didn't argue further, but calmly lowered her eyes. The next second, she gently clenched her empty hand, and a celadon teacup appeared out of thin air in her palm. The tea in the cup was clear and bright, with wisps of steam rising from it. She raised her hand, picked up the cup, and took a small sip, her movements fluid and graceful, as if it were nothing out of the ordinary.
The pupils of the people in the interrogation room contracted sharply, and pens fell to the table with a "thud"—no one had seen where the teacup came from; was it created out of thin air? This was beyond their comprehension! The air instantly became even heavier, and even breathing seemed to become more difficult.
What were they doing just now? In other words, if someone wanted to wipe them out, even the entire army combined wouldn't be a match for them.
But despite the fear, there was no malice intended.
Afterwards, others brought food, but was that all? When she saw the food given to her, Xia Die almost fainted.
"I read in novels that elves eat fruit, and I'm sure you do too. These fruits are all fresh and safe to eat; there's absolutely no medicine in them."
Even the guards standing nearby were speechless and turned their faces away in silence.
Xia Die repeatedly reassured herself, "I'm not angry. No one will suffer for me if I'm angry. I'm a lady..." She took a deep breath, trying to suppress her surging emotions.
I thought taking a step back would open up a whole new world, but the more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became.
"Hey, why aren't you saying anything?" The silly soldier was still pushing his luck.
The other teammates all turned their heads away, giving me an expression that said, "I don't know this person."
The next second, Xia Die suddenly raised her foot and kicked him away with a "bang." Immediately afterwards, his agonizing screams echoed from outside: "Old Wang, save me! Sis, don't hit my face!"
The guards watched silently, none of them stepping forward to stop her—after all, Xia Die clearly hadn't gone all out, and besides, this guy really deserved to be taught a lesson.
Xia Die rubbed her temples, cursing inwardly: Damn it, this person is really despicable! It's not that she has a bad temper.
Not long after, several officers walked in and immediately saw Xia Die pinning someone to the ground, hitting and cursing at him, creating a rather chaotic scene.
After they learned the whole story from others, a look of utter speechlessness appeared on their faces. But they still immediately stepped forward and arranged for someone to separate the two.
Then look at that soldier who had been acting like a jerk; he had already been beaten black and blue, looking exactly like a pig's head. Even his own mother probably wouldn't recognize him.
