Chapter 244 Tuanzi Wants Her Father

The tent was so quiet that only the sound of snow hitting the tent fabric could be heard.

Tuanzi curled up into a tiny ball in the corner of the blankets. The other little ones were still fast asleep. She didn't dare to cry out loud. She could only bite her lip tightly, and large tears rolled down silently, leaving dark stains on the blankets.

Her eyes were red and swollen, and all the pent-up grievances burst forth the moment she saw Fuying.

"Mother!" She staggered and threw herself into Fuying's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Her messy silver braids trembled with her sobs. "Mother, will Father never come back? Mother, Tuanzi wants Father..."

She clutched Fuying's clothes tightly, her tears soaking through and burning Fuying's skin.

Fu Ying touched Tuanzi's tear-stained face, gently wiped away her tears, and whispered, "Tuanzi, be good. Father is alright. Mother promises that she will definitely find Father for you and bring him home with you, okay?"

"Really?" Tuanzi tilted her head back, her amber eyes clear as if they had been washed, so clear that they could reflect the shadow of Fuying.

"Of course, when has your mother ever lied to you?" Fu Ying took out a handkerchief to wipe her face and then applied some fragrant ointment. It was freezing cold and the snowy season was dry, so she naturally couldn't bear to see the little girl's delicate skin suffer even the slightest grievance.

With Fuying's comforting words, Tuanzi's tense body finally relaxed.

She hugged Fuying tightly around the waist, her silvery-white braids gently brushing against her. But then, as if remembering something, she suddenly straightened up, her long, beautiful eyes timidly looking at the two "new faces" in the bed.

Tuanzi lowered her voice and gently tugged at Fuying's sleeve: "Mother, are they Father Danyue's children?"

A gentle smile curved Fu Ying's lips as she led her forward and bent down to tuck the blankets around the two little ones.

However, the two mermaid cubs were clearly not used to such a dry and warm environment. They wriggled restlessly, their azure hair resembling newly sprouted seaweed in the bedding, and their delicate, exquisite faces flushed red from the heat.

They unconsciously kicked the corner of the blanket, feeling a chill and some discomfort, and their little brows furrowed together.

"Mommy, are they a younger brother or a younger sister?" Tuanzi stared at the two pretty little ones, reached out and gently poked one of their cheeks, then quickly withdrew her hand, a slight smile finally appearing on her face.

"Sister, Tuanzi wants sister!" Tuanzi tugged at Fuying's clothes, her voice low but unable to hide her excitement.

She already has a younger brother, so if she has a younger sister, they can play dress-up games with her!

Fu Ying gently stroked her fluffy silver hair and said softly, "Just right, one younger brother and one younger sister."

"Huh?" Tuanzi looked surprised, then became even more excited and quickly leaned over the edge of the blanket to examine it closely.

However, after a moment, she tilted her head in confusion and whispered, "Mother, which one is my brother and which one is my sister? They look so alike, even their eyelashes are the same length. I can't tell them apart."

As she spoke, Tuanzi's face fell, her eyes drooped, and her braids sagged. She was feeling down. She couldn't even tell her younger brother and sister apart; she was such a useless older sister.

Fuying paused, looking at the two replicas of the pretty little faces, and her lips twitched almost imperceptibly.

"Ahem..." She coughed lightly, cleverly changing the subject: "Is Tuanzi hungry? What would you like to eat?"

At the mention of food, Tuanzi's stomach rumbled. She glanced longingly at her younger brother and sister before putting on a serious expression like a little adult and saying, "Tuanzi can eat anything. Father said that in the Beastman Continent, being able to eat your fill is already very good."

Fu Ying thought of Bai Cang, and a gentle expression appeared on her face.

With a flick of her wrist, she took out some dried meat and handed it to Tuanzi: "Eat up."

Despite saying she wasn't picky about food, Tuanzi's amber eyes lit up and her eyes crinkled with laughter at the sight of the sweet-smelling jerky.

Suddenly, the tent was lifted, and a fierce blizzard swept in.

Dan Yue stood at the door, her brows furrowed with an unyielding heaviness: "Luo Heng is back."

Fu Ying's fingertips trembled slightly as she strode out of the tent. When she saw Luo Heng, her breath caught in her throat for a moment.

Luo Heng was practically hanging on Teng's body, staggering as he walked. His slender body was stained red with blood, and as he walked, he left a long trail of blood on the snow, a gruesome and frightening sight.

Those usually gentle purple eyes were somewhat unfocused at this moment, but the moment they locked onto the pillar, the tense body relaxed.

Fu Ying's brows furrowed deeply as he steadily supported Luo Heng's limp body. Instead of taking her to the cub tent, he set up another empty tent, fearing that his blood-soaked appearance would frighten the cubs.

Once inside the tent, sheltered from the wind and snow, Fu Ying took out a warm handkerchief and cleaned Luo Heng's wounds. While applying the medicine, she discovered that Luo Heng's injuries were even more severe than Teng's, and her fingertips trembled almost imperceptibly for a moment.

His wounds were crisscrossed and deep enough to expose the bone, but the most terrifying thing was that his body's energy channels were almost depleted.

Luo Heng is a plant-beastman, but now, his body looks like it has been broken by a blizzard, leaving only an empty shell.

Although she already knew from Teng that Luo Heng had exhausted all her strength to stop the beast tide, seeing this broken body with her own eyes made her heart turn cold. This weak and cowardly beastman did not back down in the face of the beast tide, but had actually tormented himself into this terrible state. If he continued to overexert himself like this, he would really die from exhaustion.

Luo Heng lay quietly on the thick mattress, his face almost bloodless. His eyelashes trembled slightly, his purple pupils were somewhat unfocused, and each breath was so faint as to be almost imperceptible.

“Luo Heng…” Teng frowned, his dark green vertical pupils fixed on Luo Heng, his voice tense.

He had always disliked Luo Heng because that one stab at the tribal trade fair had almost separated him from all the other males. But it wasn't until this beast tide invasion that he saw clearly the feelings this beastman, who always hid in the corner, had for A Ying.

If it weren't for Luo Heng, the Black Crocodile Swamp wouldn't have lasted that long, and he wouldn't have been able to leave safely with Tuanzi and Changsheng. At this moment, watching Luo Heng's chest rise and fall with difficulty, Teng's emotions were also churning.

"He must live." Teng's Adam's apple bobbed violently, his voice somewhat hoarse.

Dan Yue stood quietly to one side, her gaze falling on Teng's tense back. She couldn't help but sigh softly and patted his shoulder: "Don't worry, with A Ying here, he'll be fine."

As he spoke, he turned to look at the raging wind and snow outside the tent, his light blue eyes darkening.

Compared to Luo Heng, who had already joined them, he was more worried about Bai Cang and Qing Lan, whose whereabouts were unknown.

Why did they go to the area outside the Triangle Sea? What happened in the Black Crocodile Swamp?
