Chapter 56, Section 56: Conflict

Chen Hao took out the fur and excrement of the enraged bear that he had prepared in advance and placed them in front of the bull-horse beast so that it could sniff them.

That's right, the Ox-Horse Beast is such a peculiar demon. Despite being a vulnerable race, it has an incredibly sensitive nose.

The hardest part of this test wasn't defeating the enraged boar bears, but finding them. The entire Bone Hills, including the surrounding mountains and forests, was incredibly vast.

There are countless other demon races, but only the raging boar bear can be scored; killing more of the other demons is a waste of effort.

But the enraged bear-boars won't obediently wait to die in the bone mounds. Having been hunted by the military multiple times, they've developed a vigilance far exceeding that of ordinary demons.

Now, sensing the arrival of a large group of elite students with star charts and surging magical energy, they have probably already scattered and fled, hiding in the mountains, underground caves, or even the outskirts of the Bone Hills.

"This is also part of the assessment." Chen Hao said in a deep voice while observing the terrain. "If you really want to get a high score, you can't expect to stand there and wait for the pigs to run into you. You have to actively catch the pigs."

Ding Yumin listened and nodded slightly. Her gaze swept across the forest, and her brows furrowed slightly: "In other words, from this moment on, it's not just about fighting demons, but also about fighting against people and against time."

“That’s right.” Chen Hao smiled and tapped the bull-horse beast’s neck lightly with his finger. “Continue searching.”

The beast let out another low growl, set off, and continued running, following the lingering scent of the earth. Its breath carried a mixture of damp, muddy smells and traces of old blood, and it soon came to a stop before a rocky slope.

"There's something up ahead." Chen Hao narrowed his eyes, his battle qi condensing into a beam of light at his fingertips, which he then lashed out!

boom! ! ! !

The energy blasted into the rubble-covered slope, causing rocks to crumble and dust to billow. The next second, a blur of motion leaped out, fleeing for its life. It was a gray-spotted hunting ape with three eyes!
“Not a pig or a bear.” Ding Yumin’s expression hardened, and she was about to throw out the firecracker in her hand.

"I'll do it." Chen Hao waved his hand and calmly drew his war bow from his back.

Nock the arrow, draw the bow, release the string—all in one smooth motion.

"call out--!"

The silver light pierced the air with lightning speed, instantly passing through the gray-spotted hunting ape's forehead and penetrating its skull almost without any hindrance, freezing it in mid-air.

"Thump." The body fell heavily to the ground, twitched a few times, and then fell silent.

"What a pity, I didn't get the essence, what a waste of my arrow," Chen Hao said regretfully.

“Let’s go, there’s no need to waste time on these demons,” Ding Yumin said.

The two rode the bull-horse beast forward again. Although the bull-horse beast made a mistake in its judgment once, it meant that they were indeed approaching the territory of the enraged boar-bear.

Following the winding beast path of the Bone Hill, the two had not gone far when they discovered several large, mane-covered monsters slowly moving along the side of a dry riverbed.

They stood a full three meters tall, with exceptionally thick forelimbs, fangs like knives, and hard bony spines bulging along their backs. This was the target monster—the enraged pig-bear.

"Luckily, we ran into three at once." Chen Hao's lips curled up as he watched the three targets from afar, not in a hurry to show himself.

"Let me reassure you, you sneak over there, they won't notice your presence." Ding Yumin quietly released her mind-based magic, an invisible mental fluctuation brushing past the three servant-level boars like a gentle breeze.

They paused, their previously agitated biting movements slowed, and the ferocity in their eyes dimmed, as if they had fallen into a slow dream.

"The opportunity is fleeting," Ding Yumin whispered.

Demons aren't stupid. Just as a novice mage fears a warrior-level demon, the aura of a mid-level mage can also cause servant-level demons to panic and flee. Ding Yumin's mental suggestion can make them ignore this biological instinct. "For others, it's just a moment, but for me, getting close is a fatal blow!" Chen Hao took down his greatsword and slowly reached out.

He moved with lightning speed, skimming the ground, without a trace of battle aura or swaying of branches, like a gentle breeze in the forest. The cattle and beasts lay motionless behind him, their breaths suppressed by Ding Yumin.

The three pig-bears were still immersed in the illusions woven by their mental suggestions, seemingly still gnawing on the long-gone corpses.

Chen Hao closed to within ten meters, his aura frozen like still water. His eyes turned cold, and he leaped into the air, his greatsword flashing with a chilling light!

"Roar--!"

As if sensing something, the bear-pig raised its head, but the greatsword fell like lightning, shattering its head on the ground. Bone fractured and blood splattered, killing it instantly!
The remaining two were instantly awakened, roaring as they turned around, but the mind magic had not completely dissipated, and they moved slowly, their anger not yet fully gathered.

Chen Hao took several steps, slashing the incoming claws with a horizontal strike. Then, he closed in, turned his sword, and pierced the second claw into the ground.

The third head finally regained full consciousness, roaring and lunging with its claws. Chen Hao was fearless, his fighting spirit gathering in his right fist like a vortex of air.

"Crash fist!"

Punch out!
The force of the punch was like a mountain collapsing and splitting, and the air was forcibly torn apart in an instant by the azure battle qi, creating a deafening explosion!
"boom!!!!!"

The charging bear's chest caved in dramatically, its fur ripped apart, and its bones shattered. Its massive body was sent flying backward as if it had been hit head-on by a speeding chariot. It crashed into two giant trees and fell heavily to the ground, dying before it could even let out a mournful cry!
Blood mist dispersed, and the mountain wind howled.

Chen Hao slowly withdrew his fist, his fighting spirit flowing back like a tide, and the gravel beneath his feet trembled slightly.

The three servant-level boars and bears were completely wiped out within ten breaths.

"As expected of you! Truly superhuman!" Ding Yumin rode over on her ox-horse-like beast, her eyes full of admiration.

What she liked most was Chen Hao's extraordinary abilities. It wasn't so obvious when he challenged all the freshmen at Qingdou Hall, but today, killing a demon with one punch really opened her eyes.

"Your mind-based abilities aren't bad either." Chen Hao sheathed his sword and crouched down to check for any explosive bone essences.

As the two were sorting through their spoils, they heard footsteps and whispers coming from the end of the beast trail.

"Someone is approaching." Ding Yumin frowned slightly.

Soon, a group of four students came into view. The leader had high-bridged eyebrows, long red hair, and a striking and magnificent purple-black robe. He glanced at the three pig and bear corpses and Chen Hao, who was searching the bodies, and a half-smile appeared on his lips.

"Impressive. Three servant-level, clean and efficient, and quick." The red-haired student exclaimed in admiration. He paused, then continued, "However, this was our prey that we targeted first. It's not fair for you to just steal it like this, is it?"

Chen Hao put away the bursting essence, knowing that this was the power of money to move people's hearts, not the activation of the intelligence-lowering aura. This group of people had probably been watching the three pig-bears for a while, but they hadn't made a move because they weren't confident that they could take them all down.

After all, even pigs and bears can run away.

He stood up, his tone calm: "First come, first served. You want to steal it?"

The red-haired student, instead of being angry, smiled, his gaze shifting from Chen Hao to Ding Yumin, a hint of apprehension creeping into his expression. He had clearly recognized her.

“You underestimate me,” he said with a shrug. “I’ve been at the Qing Campus for years now, do you still want to resort to violence? With the recording equipment, whoever makes the first move gets punished. I know the rules.”

"Then why don't you get lost?" Chen Hao's voice turned colder, and a hint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes.
