Chapter 114 The United Nations Arena

“The look of fury on your faces reminds me of a place: the medieval inquisition, where many ‘witches’ were burned at the stake,” Rediaz said with a smile.

The German representative said, "If Mr. Diaz had read 'The Hammer of Witches,' he would have found that we have at least prepared a detailed chain of evidence to prove that you are destroying humanity. Your plan to throw Mercury is more insane than burning 100,000 witches; after all, medieval fools wouldn't push the solar system into hell."

“Thank you for the reminder. It seems your country is indeed very experienced in systematic massacres,” said Rediaz.

The German representative was momentarily speechless.

"But you've got one thing wrong," Rediaz continued. "My stellar hydrogen bombs are essentially intended for the Trisolaran invaders. But what about you? What do you want so many stellar hydrogen bombs for?"

The Japanese representative frowned and said, "At this point, don't try to smear us. Other countries are not interested in your nuclear weapons, nor will they use them against their own people."

Radiaz scoffed: "Yes, we're not interested. Humans would never use nuclear bombs on their own people, so the two that hit Japan were just falling from the sky."

The Japanese representative's face turned ashen. He wanted to retort, but then he noticed the Chinese representative staring at him intently. The words that came out were: "Yes, that's the punishment we deserve, but what about you? You're going to blow up the entire solar system!"

Radiaz disdained arguing with the short Japanese man; he stood below, exuding an air of dominance over the entire audience.

“I am a Wallfacer, and everything I do is part of the plan. You should trust me unconditionally, and not anything else.”

The French representative said, "You should be glad you were born in the 21st century. We'll allow you to argue a bit more. If this were Louis XVI's time, your head would be stuck in the guillotine by now."

"The guillotine pales in comparison to your country's ingenuity in Algeria." Rediaz grinned sinisterly. "Need I remind you? Who was it that tested the first dirty bomb in the Sahara Desert?"

The French representative argued, "This is not the place to talk about history."

The Russian representative scoffed, "It seems our revolutionary gentleman treats the UN Archives as bedtime reading."

"I can't compare to the Soviet Union in terms of revolution. I just like watching history replays. For example, I like to watch the moment when the Soviet flag was lowered in Red Square repeatedly. I always remind myself: revolution cannot save humanity."

The Russian representative slammed his fist on the table: "Rediaz, are you out of your mind?"

"Shut up! You dare to yell at me? Back then, I placed my hopes for building a socialist alliance in Latin America on the Soviet Union. And what did you do? Traitors to Marx! Traitors to Lenin!"

Rediaz took off his leather boot and threw it at the Russian representative, who was unable to dodge and had his glasses and teeth smashed. Someone picked up the boot and looked at it—it was inlaid with iron.

Rediaz has another long-range throwing weapon like this.

Seeing this, the Chinese representative clicked his tongue and wisely did not participate in the condemnation.

God knows exactly how many countries' dark histories Diaz has memorized.

Rediaz straightened his tie and turned to the gallery, where there were three presidents, two prime ministers, one prime minister, and more than a dozen ambassadors from various countries.

"You are all well-dressed executioners, no different from the pirates who fought for the right to slaughter in the New World five hundred years ago—except for the color of your ties," said Rediaz.

The British Prime Minister stood there and sneered: "At least the pirates won't use a star-shaped hydrogen bomb as leverage."

"That's because they can't build it!" Rediaz cursed. "I told you, it's part of the plan, part of the plan! If you do as I say, I can intimidate the Trisolarans! Do you understand?!"

The British Prime Minister parted his thin lips slightly: "Madman."

Radiázs took off his other boot, but the British Prime Minister was immediately shoved aside. In the haste of the bodyguards, the Prime Minister even fell to the ground. Radiázs pointed at him and laughed loudly: "Look at you, a spineless coward! The once-mighty British Empire, which slaughtered a hundred million people, has now become such a wimp!"

Galnin sensed that the meeting was about to get out of control. He tapped the table with his wooden mallet again and again, but the faint sound was not enough to quiet the meeting.

How did things become like this?
Rediaz stood there, still roaring: "Look at your so-called 'mainstream defense plan'! Hiding nuclear bombs and landmines in the Kuiper Belt, building electromagnetic railgun matrices in near-Earth orbit, constructing high-powered laser cannons on the moon, using low-tech, cobbled-together junk ships to fight a Trisolaran fleet that can traverse four light-years in hand-to-hand combat! These stupid combat plans are supposed to be the 'mainstream defense plan'? Even primitive people who used bows and arrows to fight Star Destroyers had more imagination than you!!!"

The American representative ripped off his dark blue tie and charged at Diaz, punching him hard in the head. "So you're planning to use all of human civilization as hostages?"

“No, I’m looking for a second life for civilization.” Diaz quickly regained the initiative, throwing the young and strong American to the ground. The American seriously underestimated the fighting ability of the sixty-year-old Diaz. This amateur boxer was no match for Diaz at all and was kicked off the stage with punches and kicks.

By the time the security personnel rushed over, the two had already separated.

Garnin's wooden hammer was almost smoking from striking the ground.

The American representative, covered in blood, got up, wiped the blood from his face, and looked at the UN General Assembly hall with a sorrowful expression.

"I'm convinced that humanity has gone mad; human laws are utterly powerless against this monster."

Rediaz looked down at him condescendingly: "Americans, you're hammering nails into a coffin, using the legal provisions you speak of as coffin nails."

The Japanese representative screamed, "Radiaz, don't forget! Project Wallfacer authorizes strategic deception, not strategic suicide."

Without bothering with words, Rediaz knocked the Japanese representative unconscious with a shoe, which appeared to have hit his temple; he was clearly beyond saving.

Representatives from other countries were taken aback by what they saw.

"He's out of shoes, hurry up!" someone shouted. (It was later discovered that the person who instigated the incident was the British representative, who had been blocked from the plane by representatives from other countries, dragged out of the cabin, and beaten up.)
“He won’t die. That shoe doesn’t have any metal inlays.” After saying that, Radiaz finally calmed down a bit and said to everyone, “So there are still people who remember that the original intention of the Wallfacer Project was strategic deception.”

"You should really look at yourselves," said Rediaz with a hint of sadness. "If my plan could convince even the Wallbreakers, shouldn't you all give me an Oscar?"

Galnin spoke up: "Rediaz, you and I both know that your plan is real, this is not deception."

Galnin was the only person besides Luo Qing who could calm Radijaz down. Radijaz's voice even sounded somewhat aggrieved: "So what? As long as it works, that's all that matters. It's an open strategy, an open strategy..."

Garnin shook his head and pointed to the screen behind him. The screen displayed a drone's aerial view of the United Nations Plaza, where people were packed with demonstrators. Some had even climbed onto the roof of the 'Center of Faith,' standing atop the torch of the miniature Statue of Liberty and waving flags that read 'Execute Diaz.' The military and police personnel responsible for maintaining order were a mere sliver, like fragile bubbles, at risk of bursting at any moment.

"If your plan hadn't been made public, that would have been fine, but now that you've broken through the barrier, your plan is impossible to realize. Your enemy isn't representatives from various countries, but eight billion living compatriots."

Garnin shook his head slightly, as if delivering a judgment, and said the final words: "Rediaz, you have failed."

:
The book *Hammer of Witches* details how to identify witches, how to denounce them, and how to torture them, exacerbating prejudice and persecution against witches in European society at the time and sparking massive witch hunts. Over three centuries, approximately 100,000 people were executed as a result, making it one of the most insidious books ever written.

In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII issued the Bull of Sincere Anxiety, a legally binding warrant for the arrest of witches. The birth of the *Hammer of Witches* marked the institutionalization of the witch hunts in Europe. At that time, midwives, herbalists, and other women with specialized knowledge, as well as elderly women living alone, became the primary targets of persecution. The witch hunts employed many absurd standards for identifying and judging witches, such as throwing women into water; those who floated to the surface were considered witches; large birthmarks or moles on a woman's body were seen as signs of witchcraft. Women "deemed" witches were often burned at the stake, and some were hanged or beheaded.

In the 1960s, in its quest to become the world's fourth nuclear power, France conducted a series of nuclear tests in the Sahara Desert of Algeria, known as "Operation Jerboa." From 1960 to 1966, France conducted more than a dozen nuclear tests in the area. These tests resulted in radiation spreading throughout the desert, contaminating the land and even reaching neighboring countries, exposing tens of thousands of people to radiation.
