Chapter 39 Waiting for the Old Boy

Chapter 39 Waiting for the Old Boy

Actually, Qin Lan really didn't want to make this call.

Her relationship with Gao Yuanyuan was never very good.

In the drama "Nanjing Nanjing", Gao Yuanyuan is the female lead. In various promotional activities, Gao Yuanyuan always stands in the center position, which makes Qin Lan very unhappy.

Therefore, Qin Lan would often use Lu Chuan to show off her affection and use her excellent boyfriend to demonstrate her sense of superiority.

In particular, Gao Yuanyuan was actually captivated by Jiang Yifeng, an unknown man, and shamelessly pursued him, which Qin Lan even mocked her for.

It's really difficult to ask someone for a favor now.

Qin Lan sighed, and just as she made up her mind to make the call, she heard a notification sound coming from the study.

She went inside and saw that Lu Chuan had left in a hurry and hadn't logged out of his Xinlang blog account yet.

This notification sound indicates that a blogger that Lu Chuan follows has updated their blog post.

Qin Lan was in a state of turmoil and had no interest in going online. She was about to close the webpage when she saw a notification message that Gao Yuanyuan had updated her blog.

Gao Yuanyuan used to blog frequently in her early years, but she stopped updating after a brief online argument with Xu Jinglei.

It's been three or four years since I last updated my blog.

Qin Lan thought she would need Gao Yuanyuan to do something later, so she decided to find out about her situation first. She clicked on the message link and was redirected to Gao Yuanyuan's blog, where she saw the latest blog post.

Poetry brought us together; let's wait together for the old boy.

"Recently, many friends in the industry have said that I've gone crazy, turning down a lot of collaboration opportunities just to star in an online movie called 'Old Boy'."

He still performs for free.

My agent, Sun Meili, asked me, "Is it because the script for 'Old Boys' particularly moved you?"

I said, "The script is very good, but I took the role in this movie not because of the script, but because of the director, Jiang Yifeng. I am particularly fascinated by his talent."

That's right, I fell for him because of a poem that Comrade Xiao Jiang wrote for me.

I never imagined that, even though I'm almost thirty and already an auntie, I would still feel the flutter of a young girl's heart because of beautiful poetry.

But regardless, these are all wonderful and real experiences.

I've been filming on the set of "Old Boys" for the past few days. The movie will be released on July 1st on Sohu Video.

Comrade Xiao Jiang has exceptionally abundant energy and his talent flows like a spring. In between filming Old Boys, he also shot a short film – Waiting.

This short film is excellent; I think it's a masterpiece of my acting career. If you're interested, you can click the link to watch it.

Finally, I'd like to attach two modern poems that Comrade Xiao Jiang gave me.

One song, "The Moon," is about love; the other, "You Are Still By My Side," is about family.

Enjoy this with you all.

Pictures, pictures.

The poems that Gao Yuanyuan attached were all handwritten by her and uploaded as photos.

Qin Lan wasn't interested in poetry, but she clicked on the link in the blog post, ready to appreciate Gao Yuanyuan's representative works from her career.

After a short commercial break, the short film transitions into its storyline.

A long shot shows the city streets, with a light drizzle and few pedestrians on the road.

The camera zoomed in and focused on a platform.

A pregnant woman and an old woman were sitting on a bench, waiting for the bus.

The woman is on the phone.

"Okay, Dr. Li, thank you for your help. I will continue with the treatment. I will go for a follow-up check-up with my mother tomorrow. Yes, thank you very much!"

The woman hung up the phone, took a deep breath, and looked exhausted.

Seeing this, the old woman couldn't help but show concern.

"Are you ok?"

"Fortunately."

The old woman tentatively started the conversation.

"A few months."

"what?"

The woman looked astonished, her expression complex.

The old woman asked hesitantly, "I just wanted to know how many months pregnant you are. I'm sorry for being so intrusive."

The woman gave a wry smile and explained, "I'm 21 weeks along. Tuesday will mark my 21st week."

……

Qin Lan was very surprised to see Gao Yuanyuan in the video, who looked weathered, with a complicated expression and a sense of brokenness.

I never imagined Gao Yuanyuan's acting skills were so good.

She portrayed the helplessness and heartache of an older mother very well.

After watching for only a short while, the audience can understand that this woman is not doing well, and the hardships of reality have left her exhausted.

Sure enough, after offering some words of comfort, the old woman asked, "Do you find life difficult?"

The woman placed her hands on her lap, paused for a moment, and then nodded slightly.

The old woman continued, "You'll definitely be looking forward to it too. I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter, I couldn't eat or sleep well every day, but the thought of having a baby made me very excited and looking forward to it!"

My husband and I prepared all sorts of things, just to welcome the birth of our child!

Hearing this, the pregnant woman's face showed a hint of emotion.

The old woman then asked, "By the way, where are your family members?"

The woman sighed and said, "Our family situation is complicated. Now it's just me and my mother, and my mother is sick."

The old woman paused for a moment, then said, "I'm sorry."

The two fell silent. The camera zoomed out, and cars sped past on the road. The old woman said again, "It's true that a rope always breaks at its weakest point, but I believe everything will be alright."

The woman didn't speak; she just stared blankly at the cars passing by on the road.

Another awkward silence ensued.

The bus arrived, and she stood up and said, "Let's go, the bus is here."

The camera focused on the old woman's face, and Li Mingqi's acting was superb; his face showed surprise, realization, and recollection.

Seeing that the old woman was still sitting, the woman turned around and stretched out her hand: "Mom! I'm leaving."

The old woman's eyes seemed to be filled with tears. She reached out her frail hand, took her daughter's hand, and together they boarded the bus.

The camera pans from close-up to distance, revealing only an empty bus stop.

……

Qin Lan's eyes were filled with tears. When Gao Yuanyuan finally called out "Mom," she felt a chill run down her spine.

This brilliant plot twist was unexpected yet logical, realistic and natural, and brought tears to the eyes.

Qin Lan clicked on the replay button and watched the short film again.

Knowing the ending, watching this short film again makes perfect sense. The woman's phone call at the beginning, her complex expressions in the middle, and the characters' dialogue all become much more logical.

Qin Lan had to admit that although the short film was very short, it was full of details and foreshadowing, the overall camerawork was smooth, the actors' performances were also very good, and the twist at the end was natural and logical. It was an excellent work.

The emotional impact of watching this short film is something that Lu Chuan's films do not have.

Subconsciously, Qin Lan clicked on the video's comment section.

Sure enough, there were quite a few comments about Lu Chuan.

"Director Jiang is awesome! Lu Chuan could never make such a brilliant short film in his entire life!"

"I only found Lu Chuan's movies funny, but after watching Waiting, I had tears in my eyes. A grown man cried."

"Didn't Lu Chuan analyze the shoddy production of 'The King of Bathhouse'? Let him analyze it again. How about 'Waiting'?"

"Of all the web dramas Jiang Yifeng has directed, Waiting is the best one so far. It's touching without being contrived, and everything is arranged perfectly. You can see that Director Jiang has made significant progress."

"Gao Yuanyuan's acting skills are surprisingly outstanding. She said this is her representative work in her career, and it doesn't seem wrong."

"In Nanjing, Gao Yuanyuan is just a pretty face, not lively at all, but she can deliver a wonderful performance while waiting."

This clearly demonstrates that it's not that the actors are incompetent, but rather that the director's abilities are lacking.

Ichiro Luchuan should really reflect on his actions!

"Gao Yuanyuan has made such great progress, it must be the power of love. Her blog post was full of girlish excitement and infatuation, she was just short of confessing her feelings directly."

"Holy crap, I'm so envious of Jiang Yifeng! A newbie director who can only make web series has already won the favor of a goddess!"

"You can't envy this. Go and check out Gao Yuanyuan's blog posts. Jiang Yifeng's poems are something most people can't write."

Especially the song "You're Still By My Side," which is even more tear-jerking than waiting.

Director Jiang is truly talented; no wonder Gao Yuanyuan fell for him.

Upon seeing this comment, Qin Lan quickly switched back to Gao Yuanyuan's blog post, clicked on the image, and began reading the poem.

"The waterfall flows upstream"
Dandelion seeds drifted back from afar, gathering into the shape of an umbrella.

The sun rises in the west and sets in the east.
The bullet returned to the chamber.

The athletes returned to the starting line.

I returned the admission letter, forgetting the ten years of hard work I had put in.
The aroma of food wafted from the kitchen.

Please sign my test paper, turn off the TV, and help me put on my schoolbag.

You are still by my side.

After reading the poem, Qin Lan could no longer hold back her tears.

At that moment, she suddenly understood.

Love is not important at all; what's important is your family.

The people who love you the most are always your parents.

But parents won't wait forever; they will grow old and be defeated by time.

Instead of engaging in fruitless relationships, it's better to spend more time with your parents.

Thinking of this, Qin Lan did not call Gao Yuanyuan, but instead logged into her blog account and commented on Gao Yuanyuan's blog post.

"Congratulations on finding your perfect match. Jiang Yifeng's two poems are really well written. I also watched his film 'Waiting,' which is a wonderful short film."

Let's wait for Old Boys together!

This comment immediately attracted widespread attention and heated discussion among netizens.

It's just that there was no trending search list at this time, otherwise the topic "Qin Lan abandons Lu Chuan and likes Jiang Yifeng's post" would definitely be the top trending search list, followed by the word "explosive".

"Holy crap, this is a real drama! Lu Chuan's girlfriend, Qin Lan, has switched sides! She's actually starting to support Jiang Yifeng!"

"Director Jiang is such a walking succubus! First he made Gao Yuanyuan fall for him, and now he's stolen Qin Lan away from Lu Chuan!"

"Qin Lan has abandoned darkness and embraced the light; she deserves a thumbs up!"

"I saw the color on Mr. Lu Chuan's head, what a green grassland! Why don't you go back to Japan and make a movie about minotaurs? You can direct and star in it yourself."

"Haha, that's a great idea, I support it! Sir, the cherry blossoms in our hometown are in bloom, why don't you hurry back home!"

Lu Chuan quickly saw the heated discussion online.

He angrily called Qin Lan to confront her, only to receive a cold reply: "Let's break up."

Lu Chuan panicked and began to plead humbly, saying that he still needed Qin Lan to help him attract investment.

But Qin Lan remained unmoved.

Jiang Yifeng's programs, short films, and poems have brought forth a female version of Qin Lan, who has seen through the illusions of love, ahead of schedule.
