Chapter 191 How could the man in my dream be my cousin?

"Which family is the girl from?"

Wei's urgent voice pulled Zhiwan back from her chaotic thoughts.

She composed herself and lowered her head to avoid her cousin's gaze.

“You know him,” Lu Zhan said calmly.

"I know him?" Wei asked in surprise.

"Hmm." Lu Zhan responded softly, picked up the serving chopsticks, took a piece of fish, removed the bones, and placed it on the plate in front of Zhi Wan. "Doesn't my cousin like to eat fish? This squirrel mandarin fish is quite good."

When Zhiwan heard her cousin say that her aunt knew her, her heart skipped a beat. Then she saw her cousin pick out the fish bones for her, showing such thoughtfulness and care that she panicked.

"Thank you, cousin," she said, trying to remain calm, but her slightly stammering voice betrayed her nervousness.

"You're welcome." Lu Zhan's lips curled slightly.

Zhiwan panicked and almost dropped her chopsticks.

To hide her panic, she quickly lowered her head and ate the fish.

Fortunately, my aunt's attention was still focused on my cousin's statement that she knew him, and she didn't notice his gesture of putting fish on her plate.

Zhiwan breathed a sigh of relief and quickened her eating pace, wanting only to finish quickly and leave as soon as possible.

Today, her cousin made her feel a lot of pressure and nervous.

"Ah Zhan, which family's daughter is she? Tell me quickly so I can go and propose marriage." Madam Wei thought of all the eligible girls she knew, but still had no clue, so she had to ask again.

“Mother, there’s no need to rush. It’s not the right time yet,” Lu Zhan said calmly.

"Isn't now the right time? Then when will it be?" Madam Wei was extremely anxious, but after a moment's thought, she couldn't help but tease, "Could it be that you're just being wishful, and the girl doesn't like you at all?"

Lu Zhan paused, his dark eyes slightly closed. "Perhaps."

Upon hearing this, Madam Wei immediately became interested. "I never imagined there would be a girl who wouldn't like you. I'm becoming more and more curious about that girl. What kind of girl is she? How come she's so different from everyone else?"

Lu Zhan didn't speak, but picked up the wine pot and looked at Zhiwan, "Cousin, would you like a drink?"

Zhiwan was taken aback.

Seeing her cousin's calm and composed demeanor, her anxiety suddenly subsided.

She must be overthinking it.

How could the girl my cousin likes be her?

Although her cousin did take good care of her, it was only out of brotherly love for his sister.

Besides, her cousin is mature and steady, and so much older than her, how could he possibly be interested in a young girl like her?

She chuckled to herself that she was being too sensitive.

Thinking about it, she felt relieved, picked up the glass in front of her and handed it to Lu Zhan, "I can't hold my liquor well, just a small sip is enough."

Lu Zhan didn't say anything, but took her glass and filled it with wine.

When Zhiwan took the cup back, she saw that it was full of wine and looked at Lu Zhan in surprise.

Was she not clear in what she just said? Or did her cousin not hear her clearly?

"Mother, have a drink too." Lu Zhan poured a glass for Madam Wei as well.

"What are you drinking?" Madam Wei said impatiently. "Tell me quickly, what does that girl look like, and what is her personality like?"

Lu Zhan paused, not answering her question, but instead asked, "Mother, what do you think if I were to marry into that girl's family?"

"Cough cough cough..." Before Madam Wei could react, Zhiwan choked on the wine she had just drunk and started coughing violently.

Wei was startled and was about to pat her back when she saw her son get up from his seat and quickly walk behind Zhiwan.

Zhiwan coughed so hard it was earth-shattering, her face turning red.

At that moment, a large hand suddenly landed on her back, causing her to stiffen and her cough to stop abruptly.

"Cousin, drink slowly, no need to rush."

A deep, resonant voice sounded above her head as he gently patted her back.

Zhiwan snapped out of her daze, awkwardly shifting to the side, and stammered, "Th-thank you, cousin, I...I've recovered..."

Lu Zhan paused on her back, then withdrew his hand. "Hmm, it's good that you're alright."

When Madam Wei saw that Zhiwan was alright, she breathed a sigh of relief and then turned her attention back to what her son had said earlier.

"Marry into the family? Ah Zhan, was it that girl who asked you to?" Madam Wei frowned, looking displeased. "How could she ask you to marry into the family? Doesn't she know you're the only son in the family? You're going to inherit the title in the future. I don't agree to this, and neither will your father or your grandmother."

"We can find another way to handle the matter of inheriting the title," Lu Zhan said nonchalantly.

Upon hearing this, Madam Wei was shocked and scolded, "Have you lost your mind?" Her initial joy at hearing that her son had a girl he liked was now like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, leaving her feeling utterly chilled. "If you marry into the family, I'd rather you stay a bachelor for life!"

Lu Zhan: "..."

Zhiwan's mind was buzzing; she no longer cared what they were saying.

Before, she could still deceive herself into believing that her cousin and the man in her dream were just coincidences, that they were two completely different people. But now, can she still say that it was all just a coincidence?

But how could the man in my dream be my cousin?
Zhiwan was extremely flustered and at a loss.

"Lu Zhan, did you hear what I said?" Madam Wei said angrily.

Lu Zhan stood up and said, "It's getting late, Mother, please rest. I'll take my cousin home." After saying that, he looked at the girl opposite him who was trying to remain calm.

Zhiwan suppressed her chaotic thoughts, looked at the man standing opposite her, made a snap decision, suddenly picked up her cup, drank the wine in one gulp, and then poured herself two more cups of wine.

If she's not mistaken, she can enter dreams even when drunk.

Several times, she smelled a strong odor of alcohol on that man.

She wasn't sure if she was right, but she wanted to give it a try.

She had to verify whether the man in her dream was indeed her cousin.

Madam Wei was still angry with Lu Zhan when she saw Zhiwan drink several cups of wine in a row. She was startled and quickly stopped her, saying, "Wan'er, this wine has a strong aftereffect. Don't drink so fast. If you like it, you can take it back and drink it slowly, but you can't drink too much at once."

Upon hearing this, Zhiwan hugged the wine pot to her chest and said, "Thank you, Aunt. I'll take the wine pot with me then."

She looked clearly drunk, which made Madam Wei both amused and annoyed. "What's wrong with you today, girl? Lu Zhan, take your cousin home."

"Understood," Lu Zhan replied.

Holding the wine pot, Zhiwan followed her cousin with unsteady steps.

Lu Zhan was aware of the girl's gaze fixed on him from behind, so he deliberately slowed his pace and walked leisurely.

Zhiwan's mind was in complete turmoil. Was her cousin really the man from her dreams?

Thinking it over, she quickened her pace and went around to the front of the man.

She raised her slightly tipsy face and looked at the man. "Cousin, were you serious or just joking when you spoke to Aunt just now?"

"Which sentence are you referring to, cousin?" Lu Zhan looked down at her and took a step closer to her.
