Chapter 324 Preparation
The doorbell rang at the villa.
A short while later, the villa's door opened automatically via remote control, letting in the person who rang the doorbell.
A man with a cold and stern face walked in.
He first walked up to Rong Fei, bowed slightly, and greeted him: "Mr. Rong Fei."
"Yes, Mr. Lin, these are my wife and her friend. You two can discuss it and switch identities tomorrow." Rong Fei glanced at the man casually, his smile remaining gentle.
“Yes, Mr. Rong Fei,” Lin Ze replied. “I hope Mr. Rong Fei will keep his promise to me.”
“Of course.” Rong Fei’s slender hand gently covered his knee, and his fingertips tapped it casually.
Jiang Mian was slightly taken aback when she saw this scene. It seemed that, just as Rong Fei had said before, he didn't have any extremely trusted subordinates or friends around him. The greatest trust relationship he had was one based on mutual interests.
The people he employs all have something to ask of him, or he has leverage over them; the only relationship between them is one of self-interest.
The man walked to Jiang Mian's side and slowly said, "Madam, you can just call me Lin Ze."
Jiang Mian politely introduced herself: "My name is Jiang Mian."
Lin Xuan also said, "Lin Xuan."
The three of them then began to discuss and decide how to disguise themselves and go in the next day.
All three of them are real people.
Lin Ze was indeed a human slave, and he was indeed subjected to many experiments.
The other two people, the researcher and the orc slave, already existed.
However, these two people have now been dealt with by Rong Fei, and Jiang Mian and the others will temporarily take their place.
In short, this researcher joined the underground research institute with an orc slave and a human slave, but was taken care of by Rong Fei halfway through, and now Jiang Mian and Lin Xuan have taken their place.
“Madam, this is the researcher’s personal terminal. It might be more helpful for you to disguise this identity.” Lin Ze handed the personal terminal to Jiang Mian.
"Okay." Jiang Mian nodded and accepted it.
After the three of them discussed the details of their departure the next day, they each went to rest.
Jiang Mian fiddled with the personal terminal for a bit to confirm his identity in order to avoid being exposed, and only went to sleep after making full preparations.
The next day.
All three of them were disguised.
"Didn't they say that the people at the underground research institute there don't know what the three of us we're impersonating look like?" Lin Xuan asked, applying skin to her face and using a waterproof makeup pen to disguise herself as a different person. "Why do we need to disguise ourselves?"
Although she said that, she still quickly put on a show.
"Just in case, it's better to be on the safe side," Lin Ze replied.
Jiang Mian was also disguising himself.
She disguised herself exactly like the researcher, and although not exactly the same, she was about 70-80% similar.
The original owner of this quantum computer, the researcher, had a somewhat mean-looking appearance, wore black-rimmed glasses, and had a cold and gloomy demeanor.
However, Lin Ze said that she didn't need to deliberately imitate that person. After all, that person usually locked herself in the basement to do research, never seeing the light of day, not socializing, having no friends, and no one knew what the original researcher looked like or what her personality was like.
So although Jiang Mian was impersonating this person, there were still some discrepancies.
After the three of them had disguised themselves, they set off.
"Let's go to the underground city first, through the secret passage," Lin Ze reminded him.
They couldn't go through openly, of course; they had to use the secret passage provided by the other party. "Okay," Jiang Mian nodded.
A short while later, Jiang Mian arrived at a shop and simply showed the other party the invitation from the personal terminal with a blank expression. The other party then asked her to come with him.
"Go inside, sit down, and fasten your seatbelt," the shop owner said casually.
Jiang Mian and the other two did as instructed.
Before long, it felt like riding a roller coaster through a tunnel, with gusts of wind rushing past my ears.
After more than ten minutes, the roller coaster finally came to a stop.
The surroundings were pitch black, with only lights illuminating the entire tunnel, and in addition to the tracks, there were some paved concrete floors on both sides.
The exit ahead was made of iron metal. As the roller coaster stopped, the exit door opened, and a faint light shone through.
A few people could be vaguely seen waiting there.
Jiang Mian and Lin Xuan got off their seats.
At the exit, a man in a white coat came out. He looked Jiang Mian carefully, but with a look of unfamiliarity, and asked, "Researcher Xu?"
The researcher Xu mentioned by that person was the identity played by Jiang Mian.
When Jiang Mian saw the middle-aged man in the white coat, her eyebrows twitched slightly. This middle-aged man was none other than Li Chengfeng, whom she had thought of yesterday. She had originally planned to ask about Li Chengfeng's situation when she was catching up with Zhou Bai, but she did not expect to meet him here unexpectedly.
At this moment, she was glad that she had disguised herself, otherwise she might have been exposed immediately, since Li Chengfeng had seen her face before.
"Hmm," Jiang Mian replied expressionlessly.
These thoughts flashed through her mind, and when she saw Li Chengfeng, she wasn't surprised at all. Instead, she felt it was only natural, since he was researching human longevity, and this research base was also studying that.
"I didn't expect you to be a girl." Li Chengfeng was surprised, as if this sentence reminded him of someone. "It reminds me of an old friend."
The girl he met back then was also very young, but who knew that she was the famous Sleepless?
So much so that although Li Chengfeng was surprised by the young pharmacist, he no longer held much prejudice against him.
Jiang Mian, adhering to the principle of "the less you say, the less mistakes you make," remained silent.
Li Chengfeng didn't intend to explain anything to her at the time.
He led Jiang Mian away from the tunnel.
“I’m very interested in the cell mutations you’re researching.” Li Chengfeng took Jiang Mian directly to his experimental area, clearly a man of action who didn’t delay. “Now I’ll trouble you to conduct the experiment; we don’t have much time left.”
Jiang Mian silently followed. Without her saying anything, Li Chengfeng took her to see their experimental subjects.
This was exactly what Jiang Mian wanted to do. She also reminded Lin Xuan to keep an eye out for any of the test subjects who might be the husband she was looking for.
Lin Xuan naturally received it.
The human test subjects and the mechanical beast bodies that Jiang Mian had encountered on that planet were largely the same.
They studied different subjects and had different purposes, but they all conducted experiments on living organisms.
And this research on longevity cells seems even more cruel and inhumane.
Jiang Mian looked at the experimental subjects, her heart trembling.
This place cannot be left.
