Chapter 248 Quarrel
She stretched out her wrist: "Please, imperial physician, I'm afraid I won't be able to control the force properly."

The imperial physician immediately went over to prepare a clean knife. The moment the cold blade touched her skin, Song Yi couldn't help but close her eyes.

Even though she agreed very readily, people are still afraid of pain after all.

Fortunately, the imperial physician did not let the fear torment her for too long. His movements were swift and decisive, and a sharp pain shot through her. Song Yi bit her lower lip tightly, barely managing to swallow back a muffled groan.

'Pat, pat'

Crimson drops of blood fell into the white porcelain bowl. After a while, when there was enough blood, the imperial physician immediately sprinkled hemostatic powder on her wrist, carefully wrapped her slender wrist with gauze, gave her a bottle of medicine, and instructed Song Yi to apply it regularly.

Song Yi looked down at the gauze suddenly wrapped around her wrist, lowered her sleeve to barely cover it, and asked, "When will this medicine be effective?"

"An hour."

"So fast."

That's fine, she has to go back now.

When Song Yi arrived at the gate of the Golden Palace, Eunuch Cao saw her and his eyes lit up. He immediately came over and said, "Your Highness is back. The two Consorts have been inside for a while now. Please go in and see them."

She frowned slightly.

She could get in, but she was worried that Jiang Lanye wouldn't agree to use her blood as a medicinal ingredient, so she felt a little guilty and hesitant.

As soon as she walked in, she saw the two people sitting to the side. They had brought some food, which they must have made themselves, but Jiang Lanye obviously didn't take it and just casually put it on the table.

As soon as Song Yi entered, Jiang Lanye looked up from the memorials and stared at her.

"See the Imperial Concubine."

She gave a casual reply and stood there, looking somewhat at a loss, which was unusual for her.

Jiang Lanye frowned and commanded, "Come here."

".oh."

She walked over and said, "You've read several of these memorials already, it's time to take a break."

Jiang Lanye swiftly closed the memorial and placed it on the table.

The other two were dumbfounded.

Since they came in, Jiang Lanye had only glanced at them once, and then kept reading the memorials without looking up. With Song Yi's words, he could simply close the memorials.

Song Yi kept one arm hanging down at her side, using the wide sleeve of her clothes to cover it.

Jiang Lanye couldn't help but take a second look, and he quickly noticed something was wrong. His voice suddenly turned cold: "What happened to your hand?"

"Oh? Your hand is okay."

She shuddered.

Jiang Lanye assumed she must have been injured at the Imperial Hospital, and disregarded the two men, grabbing her arm and lifting her up.

Her sleeve slowly slipped down, revealing a slender wrist wrapped in thick gauze, through which red blood could be faintly seen.

Silence, deathly silence.

Jiang Lanye's eyes instantly turned terrifyingly dark, and his fingers unconsciously tightened.

“Song Yi.” His voice was as cold as ice: “Explain.”

Song Yi felt a sharp pain from his pinch and whispered, "The imperial physician said that a woman's blood is needed as a medicinal ingredient, so I used my own blood, but only a little bit."

“A little bit?” His voice suddenly rose: “If it was just a little bit, why would you need to cut your wrist? Are you still trying to hide this from me?”

Consort Shen and Consort Meng exchanged a glance, and saw a hint of panic in each other's eyes.

Are these two about to have a fight? His Majesty seems quite angry.

Song Yi closed her eyes: "Okay, it is a bit much, but it's only a small half bowl. What is the blood I lost compared to what you lost?"

"Can you even compare these things?"

Jiang Lanye coldly interrupted her, "You insist on hiding this from me, don't you?"

Song Yi paused, then her voice rose involuntarily: "If I didn't hide it from you, would you agree?"

Jiang Lanye suddenly stood up.

He was tall and slender, already much taller than Song Yi. As a shadow fell, his body blocked most of the light, leaving Song Yi completely shrouded in his shadow.

"You know I won't agree, you know that perfectly well, but you still do it."

"I did all this for you."

"I don't need you to sacrifice anything. Anyone can do this, why does it have to be you?"

Song Yi frowned.

She hadn't seen Jiang Lanye so fierce in a long time, and she was a little angry: "Why? There's no why. Between us, I'm using a little bit of my blood as a medicinal ingredient for you. Do I need to explain why?"

Jiang Lanye took a deep breath: "Our relationship shouldn't cause you any harm."

"Jiang Lanye, are you being unreasonable? I'm the most suitable person. The imperial physician also said to just find any palace maid, but I don't want to. This is just a small matter, nothing at all!"

Her eyes had never been so stubborn, even when Jiang Lanye had cornered her against the wall.

Consort Meng was already trembling. She tugged at Consort Shen's sleeve and said in a trembling voice, "Something seems wrong. Shall we leave first?"

Consort Shen suddenly pulled her sleeve out: "Where are you going?"

Jiang Lanye was almost laughing in anger at her: "Song Yi, you know better than anyone that this matter is no small matter to me. If you really thought it was a small matter, you wouldn't have deliberately blocked your wrist when you came in. You were feeling guilty and afraid because you knew it was no small matter, but you still insisted that it was a small matter!"

Song Yi abruptly turned her head away: "I don't want to argue with you about what's important and what's trivial. Anyway, I did it, and I did it for your own good."

"You should tell me that you dare not deceive me."

"I already told you, and I know you wouldn't want to."

The more Song Yi spoke, the more distressed she felt.

That's not how it is; she didn't want to argue.

She knew Jiang Lanye would be angry, and that the reason for his anger was that he cared too much about her and loved her too much.

Even though she knew he loved her, the words still slipped out of her mouth, and they ended up arguing.

Most importantly, why was Jiang Lanye so harsh on her?
Seeing that she remained silent for a long time, Jiang Lanye said coldly, "If I had known you would do this, I should have kept you locked up in the Golden Palace and not allowed you to go anywhere."

Song Yi bit her lip tightly, and two lines of tears fell without warning.

She cried quietly, without even a sob; only the tears that kept flowing proved her grievance.

Thick eyelashes were soaked, casting a trembling shadow under his eyes.

Jiang Lanye froze, immediately panicking. He gently cupped Song Yi's face, his previous fierce expression completely gone, and apologized helplessly:

"I'm sorry, Yiyi. It's my fault. Please don't cry."

Jiang Lanye's attempts to comfort her only made her more emotional. Tears streamed down her face as she choked out, "Jiang Lanye, you...you really hate me so much."

His heart trembled. Ignoring her weak struggles, he pulled her into his arms and said, "Yes, I hate it. I'm sorry."
