Chapter 315 I Want You to Like Me
The two were silent for two seconds.

Qin Zhao took out his phone and hung up.

Qin Zhao was no longer sleepy, so he took the dark fish and hugged it in his arms.

"One should not be too sensitive."

She spoke to the dark fish.

She stared at her doll for a moment, then buried it in her neck.

The moment the call ended, Shen Yanci felt even more suffocated. The London night was bustling yet cold, the neon lights blurring the glass and reflecting his tense face.

Was he disgusted by Qin Zhao's dullness, or was he afraid that in the end it would be another one-man show for him?

Or is it this feeling of being out of control again?
Shen Yanci stopped contacting her. Qin Zhao and Jiang Man spent the whole day shopping and Qin Zhao was getting her hair done.

She held her phone, looked at the blank pinned post, and moved her finger slightly.

He didn't send her a single message.

Qin Zhao: "Are you busy?"

About ten minutes later, the other end replied with two words: "Meeting."

"Alright then."

The other person typed for half a second, then returned to calm: "Hmm."

Qin Zhao had finished his hair care, and the pinned chat box was blank.

She was waiting for Shen Yanci to finish his work so he could let her know.

But it was almost 11 p.m., and Shen Yanci still hadn't replied to her message.

When she got home, she looked at the screen, which had no new messages.

Type: "I'm going to sleep."

Two minutes later, they replied with an "Mm".

Qin Zhao: "..."

Shen Yanci: "?"

Qin Zhao made him a video call.

He answered it very quickly.

He was wearing a shirt, and the background was an office.

They seem genuinely busy.

Seeing her frown and stunned expression, Shen Yanci lifted his eyelids slightly: "Is something the matter?"

Qin Zhao shook his head: "No."

Shen Yanci raised an eyebrow.

Qin Zhao looked at him: "Are you still busy?"

"I'm going to be busy right away."

Qin Zhao said, "Oh, is this job really that complicated?"

"Kind of."

"Then you can continue with your work."

Shen Yanci suddenly laughed, but the laughter didn't reach his eyes: "You called just to keep me busy?"

"Then what can I do? I can't help you even if you tell me." Qin Zhao pursed his lips. "I can only leave you alone."

Such indifference just means you don't want to chat, right?

"Making a phone call is considered disturbing?" Shen Yanci glanced at her. "Does the phone call I make to you count as disturbing you?"

Qin Zhao: "But weren't you busy? You haven't sent me a single message all day."

"I'm busy and you're busy too? If I don't send you messages, you won't send me any?" Shen Yanci looked at her, his lips flat. "If I don't contact you, you won't contact me?"

Which message did he not reply to?

Does he think they'll break up if he doesn't take the initiative?
After a barrage of questions, Qin Zhao paused for a few seconds: "Are you throwing a tantrum?"

"I wasn't throwing a tantrum." Shen Yanci's jaw was taut, and he spoke clearly, "You were the one who pursued me. You liked me, that's why you pursued me. Now that you've got me, you can't even take the initiative to message me?"

“Didn’t I send you all the messages today? I also made the phone calls.” Qin Zhao looked at him. “Have you replied with more than five words in a single sentence these past two days? And I haven’t even gotten angry yet.”

“You can get angry with me.” Shen Yanci looked at the camera, his eyes deep. “You can tell me if you have any complaints.”

"..."

Qin Zhao lowered his eyelids and said gently:
"I'm quite dissatisfied with you. You didn't message me when you arrived yesterday, I had to call you to confirm, and your attitude was bad. You didn't message me today either, and your reply was very perfunctory. When I called you, your tone was very rude."

“You’re bringing your work-related emotions home with me. My dad never brings his work-related emotions home.”

“…” Shen Yanci was silent for a moment, loosened his tie, and lowered his voice: “I’m not in the mood for work.”

"You still say you don't?" Qin Zhao looked at him. "Then you have a problem with me?"

“Yes, I have a problem with you.” Shen Yanci’s lips were straight. “Why don’t you say so if you’re unhappy? I thought you didn’t care what I did.”

Qin Zhao choked for a moment: "Weren't you busy? Is it wrong for me to understand you?"

"I don't need you to understand me." Shen Yanci lifted his eyelids slightly, staring straight at her, his voice low and magnetic, "I need you to like me."

Both ends of the phone call remained silent.

Qin Zhao's lips moved slightly: "I understand you because I like you. Do you expect me to get angry with you?"

"Then throw a tantrum." Shen Yanci's eyes churned with emotion. "You need to make me feel that you like me."

Qin Zhao: "Then why don't you let me feel your affection?"

Shen Yanci: "Can't you feel it?"

Qin Zhao shook his head: "These past two days, I've just felt that you don't want to talk to me."

"It's an illusion."

Shen Yanci looked at her with his dark eyes: "I like you."

"Oh." Qin Zhao held the dark fish, raised his eyelids slightly, and said, word by word, "I like you too."

"Not sincere." He turned his head to her side as if he didn't believe her, but the corners of his lips weren't pressed down as much.

"..."

Qin Zhao: "You're mistaken too."

He raised an eyebrow and glanced at her: "What did you mean by bringing your emotions home? I'm family too."

"..."

"I'm giving you a benchmark."

"Okay, I will learn from my father-in-law."

"..."

Qin Zhao felt that Shen Yanci's emotions sometimes changed faster than anything else, as if he had taken some kind of hormone drug.

It's cloudy one minute and sunny the next.

After hanging up the phone, she lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

His hand landed on her neck.

The dark fish glared at her angrily beside her.

Qin Zhao received good news: her supervisor would be publishing a top-tier conference paper on the project she participated in during her summer research, and she would be given a second authorship.

They also asked her if she intended to apply for PDH (Public Diploma of Secondary Education).

Jiang Man clicked her tongue twice: "Zhao Zhao, you're amazing. A top-tier conference paper, even as a second author, it's still very impressive."

"Besides, isn't the US PhD program essentially a direct PhD program? It's very difficult! The chances of getting approved are also very low."

Qin Zhao: "So I just asked."

“When a supervisor asks directly like that, it’s practically a promise. As long as your application materials are up to standard, there shouldn’t be any major problems.” Jiang Man shook his head, a little doubtful. “How come you’ve already become a PDH after just one summer vacation?”

“But if you really apply, wouldn’t you have to endure several years of summer research?” Jiang Man started to feel sorry for her again; she couldn’t bear to live that kind of life.

She collapsed in a spread-eagle position.

She glanced at her: "Then what about you and Shen Yanci? Continue your long-distance relationship?"

"You said yourself that the probability is very low."

Jiang Man looked at her: "Why do I feel like you haven't been very happy these past few days?"

"Have it?"

"Yes." Jiang Man nodded. "Very good!"

Qin Zhao lowered his eyes: "I'm not unhappy."

"It's probably because it's too hot."

After a while, Qin Zhao casually said, "Full."

"Ok?"

Why does a boy suddenly become so strange?

Jiang Man immediately perked up: "What's wrong with Shen Yanci?"
