The tycoon's wicked wife from the era of literature has been reborn.
Chapter 289 You Only Have Eyes on the Child
It took a lot of effort for Ouyang Yan to calm down from her emotional breakdown.
Finding it quiet behind him, he turned around and saw Zhou Zhenghua silently cleaning up the mess on the ground.
The clothes were put back into the basin, the foam was rinsed off with clean water, and Zhou Zhenghua filled another basin with water, poured in laundry detergent, and scrubbed the clothes under the tap.
This basin is mostly filled with the child's clothes, plus a set of dirty clothes he changed out of.
He didn't say anything, just quietly washed and quickly finished scrubbing.
Ouyang Yan's heart softened. She took a deep breath, wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand, squatted down, picked up one of the children's clothes that he hadn't rinsed properly, and rinsed it again.
The couple looked at each other, said nothing, and simply washed the basin of clothes together.
"I come."
Zhou Zhenghua picked up the clean clothes and went to the backyard to hang them up to dry.
Back inside, Ouyang Yan had composed herself and was sitting at the table breastfeeding her child.
Her eyes were still red. Hearing the noise, she looked up at him.
Seeing the man like this, she suddenly realized she had acted impulsively and, feeling a little guilty, asked:
When are you going?
Zhou Zhenghua smiled slightly, "If you don't want to go, then you don't have to go."
After saying that, he lowered his head, put down the washbasin, and picked up the rice cooker to rinse and cook the rice.
The room remained silent except for the sound of a baby suckling.
Zhou Zhenghua placed the rice cooker on the coal stove, opened the stove door wide, clapped his hands, and walked into the house.
He stood in front of the table, perhaps for a while, or perhaps for a minute or two.
After a long silence, a deep male voice rang out from inside the room, slowly recounting:
"Since having a child, your eyes are always on the child. You put the child to sleep first, you drop everything to hold her when she cries, and you ignore everything else and rush to her side the moment she's hungry."
Ouyang Yan interrupted him, asking in confusion, "What are you trying to say?"
"Yanzi." Zhou Zhenghua looked up at her intently, accusingly saying, "Have you noticed that ever since you had the child, all you see is the child? Do you still care about me, your husband?"
"What?" Ouyang Yan was a little confused. She suddenly realized that she could not understand human speech.
What does it mean that since having children, she only has eyes for her children and no longer sees her husband?
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but couldn't utter a word, suddenly feeling utterly speechless.
Now all she cares about is her child. Is that what she really wants?
"I"
"Oh, so you know to start cooking rice first today!"
Ouyang Yan's voice was interrupted. She originally wanted to continue communicating, but Zhong Shi came into the house excitedly carrying vegetables.
Seeing that the atmosphere at the table was not quite right with her son and daughter-in-law, she clicked her tongue, immediately put down the vegetable basket and walked over.
"Here, give me the grass. Go pick the green beans and eggplants. We'll stir-fry them tonight. Zhenghua loves them the most. He finally got a day off, let him rest a bit more."
Without giving Ouyang Yan a chance to speak, she snatched the child into her arms.
The child was enjoying his meal when he was suddenly interrupted and cried pitifully for a few moments.
As if nothing had happened, Mrs. Zhong carried him out of the house, pointing to the sunset in the sky and the leaves on the leaves by the wall to divert his attention.
The child had just eaten about 70-80% full, and was attracted by the new things, so he gradually stopped crying.
Ouyang Yan felt relieved and got up to pick vegetables.
Ouyang Yan felt a little comforted when Zhou Zhenghua offered to help.
She couldn't help but think that she had been too impulsive just now. Coupled with the man's accusations, she felt a pang of guilt towards him. She stopped the man from helping her and picked the vegetables herself and cooked them.
When Ouyang Yan saw the dishes on the table, she couldn't believe that she had cooked them herself.
Before getting married, she had never even stepped into the kitchen at home.
After starting work, I ate in the cafeteria and didn't even know how to make scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
But now, they can actually make these few dishes that look decent.
My mother-in-law, Zhong, isn't actually a bad cook, but she always cooks with too little oil or salt, and I was so sick of it during my postpartum period.
Looking back now, although cooking was hard work, the food I made suited my taste, so it was a good thing. That night, Zhou Zhenghua took the initiative to come to Ouyang Yan's room.
Ouyang Yan was a little surprised, but more than that, she was delighted.
However, that joy was quickly overshadowed by his still-recovering physical condition.
Due to health reasons, Ouyang Yan rejected her husband's rare attempt to take the initiative.
"I went for a check-up today, and the doctor said I need to rest for another two months. After six months, I should be fine."
She whispered expectantly and shyly.
"It's alright, your health is the most important thing," Zhou Zhenghua comforted him.
To ease the awkwardness, I went to see the child.
Ouyang Yan felt increasingly guilty. Although she felt she shouldn't feel guilty, the emotion just rose up involuntarily and was completely beyond her control.
In today's environment, as long as a man can support his family, doesn't beat his wife, doesn't gamble, and doesn't have extramarital affairs, he's considered an exceptionally good man.
A woman who cannot satisfy a good man's desires in a timely manner, a wife, should feel guilty.
Because it's all her fault, it's her problem, it's because her body didn't recover sooner.
And what about Zhou Zhenghua?
He has already taken the initiative to express his understanding and has been so considerate, so what could he have done wrong?
"Brother Zhenghua."
Ouyang Yan looked expectantly at her husband who was making their daughter happy, and called out to him tenderly and affectionately.
"About this afternoon, I..."
"What?" Zhou Zhenghua turned his head and asked in confusion.
Ouyang Yan's hard-won courage was interrupted. She took a deep breath, trying to reorganize her thoughts and continue with the emotions and problems she hadn't resolved that afternoon.
Zhou Zhenghua yawned by sheer coincidence, bent down to kiss his daughter's cheek, picked up his clothes, stood up, and said:
"It's getting late, you should go to sleep too."
After saying that, he strode out of the room and went to the small cubicle next door.
Out of that tiny bit of pride, Ouyang Yan simply couldn't bring herself to ask him to stay.
"Oh well," she thought helplessly, "I'll just keep living like this, in a daze."
Things will get better.
It will be better when the child grows up.
But what if the woman who becomes his wife isn't him?
Will he continue to live like this, so carelessly?
"Ah!"
As soon as she rode her bicycle to her doorstep, Gao Qinghe couldn't help but sneeze loudly.
Jiang Qiyue, who was being well-behaved and quiet with her baby carrier wrapped around her front, was startled by her mother's sneeze.
The little guy stared blankly with his big, dark eyes, looking a bit lost, not knowing where the thunder was coming from.
Qi Lianxin had already returned home and had been keeping an eye on the situation at her doorstep.
Seeing the mother and daughter return, he excitedly went out to greet them. Hearing his daughter-in-law sneeze, he asked with concern:
"Why are you so late coming back? Did the wind catch your breath on the way?"
He quickly took his granddaughter off and held her in his arms, urging Gao Qinghe to hurry inside and put on some clothes.
Gao Qinghe shook her head, rubbed the tip of her nose, and said she was fine.
"I wonder which bastard is cursing me in their mind!"
I pushed my bicycle into the yard, and as soon as I parked it, I couldn't help but sneeze twice in a row.
Well, I'm really getting cold from the wind now. (End of Chapter)
