The tycoon's wicked wife from the era of literature has been reborn.
Chapter 244 Night School
After spending one night in Shanghe Village, Gao Qinghe and his wife returned home the next day after breakfast.
I gave Gao Qingmiao a ride back to the city.
Remembering that Mo Xiaohong hadn't come along this time, Gao Qinghe inquired about her younger brother's romantic situation.
Gao Qingmiao is no longer afraid of being discovered by his family, and he has become thick-skinned. When talking about his relationship with Mo Xiaohong, he no longer blushes.
“The county runs night school, and she enrolled in the fashion design class. Now she goes to night school every day after work and finishes class at 9:30 pm. I pick her up after class.”
Gao Qingmiao said smugly.
The next second, she received a glare from her older sister, "Why don't you go and learn from them? Everyone else knows how to be ambitious, why don't you?"
Gao Qingmiao's heart skipped a beat, and she could only cry out to her brother-in-law for help.
Jiang Baohai said with a laugh, "Your sister is right. Even if you're not interested in technical courses, taking some classes and improving your literary cultivation will benefit you in the future."
A person can be poor, but they cannot be uncultured.
This is something Jiang Baohai has known since he was a child.
It's a pity he didn't have a chance to go to school properly.
In my past life, when I was middle-aged, I enrolled in an adult education program and even got a diploma from a top university.
But that was just a form of compensation, and it never felt the same as when I was young.
In Gao Qinghe's words, it was pure pretentiousness.
Gao Qingmiao was speechless when he heard his brother-in-law's words. He should have known that his brother-in-law and sister were in cahoots.
He knows that studying is good, but he also knows that studying is tiring!
Thinking back to her school days, Gao Qingmiao shook her head repeatedly.
Why do you think he couldn't go to high school?
He simply doesn't have the knack for reading; for him, reading is more arduous than plowing the fields.
"Forget it, forget it. I'll just focus on my clothing store."
Gao Qingmiao waved her hand, signaling her sister not to bring up the matter of studying again.
His store is having a big year-end sale, and he's clearing out all the stock he had before so he can get new items after the New Year.
He wondered what the new styles would look like this year. The fashion models in the magazines all looked very stylish, but he didn't know if these styles had been stocked in the provincial capital.
Thinking about all this, Gao Qingmiao asked her sister, "After the New Year, around the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, I'm going to the provincial capital to buy goods. Is there anything you need to bring back?"
Gao Qinghe thought about it and realized that she really didn't lack anything right now.
Jiang Baohai often asked people to buy her food and drinks from the city; she never lacked snacks.
As for clothes, her belly will start to grow bigger in another month, and she has already decided to ask her mother-in-law to make her a few comfortable maternity clothes.
The only thing I'm not entirely satisfied with is the accommodation.
Gao Qinghe said, "I don't need food, drink, or clothing. If you have time after you finish shopping for clothes, go and help me take a look around and see which commercial housing units have been built, ask about the prices, and check the location and unit types."
Gao Qingmiao nodded in agreement, not thinking much of it; if her sister wanted her to watch, she would.
Gao Qingmiao was left at the main road into town, while Gao Qinghe and his wife turned around and went back to Zhao Village.
I originally planned to visit Huang Yanqiu on the way, but then I remembered that my family planning supplies were still at home, so I'll have to bring them next time.
Huang Yanqiu will be out of confinement in a few days, and with the Lunar New Year approaching, she will definitely be going back to her hometown for her full-month celebration.
Gao Qinghe calculated the days and estimated that the next meeting would be after the New Year.
"A year goes by so fast," Gao Qinghe exclaimed.
The temperature has dropped again, and the weather forecast says it will snow in the next couple of days. Looking at the gloomy sky, it will probably snow either tonight or tomorrow.
When the car pulled up in front of the house, Xiao Hei, who was lying in his doghouse, poked his head out and glanced around.
Upon seeing a familiar figure, it didn't utter a sound and immediately pulled its head back inside.
Gao Qinghe got out of the car and opened the large iron gate. All the doors to the house were locked, and the yard was quiet. "Where did Mom and Xiaoyu go?" Jiang Baohai asked, puzzled, after parking the car.
Gao Qinghe was rummaging through her bag for her keys. She was so used to having someone at home every time she came back that she didn't even know where she had put them.
I glanced at the corner by the courtyard gate; the bicycle was gone.
"Maybe she went out to buy something," Gao Qinghe said uncertainly.
The key was finally found. The door was opened and the hall was still warm. A piece of coal was burning in the stove and the vent was closed to the minimum.
Looks like they went out early this morning.
Jiang Baohai brought in two fresh coals, removed the gas valve, and started the stove.
My cell phone kept ringing in my bag. I answered a call and then drove off to get busy.
Gao Qinghe took a nap at home by herself.
Just as I woke up, I heard Jiang Yu and her mother talking in the courtyard.
The mother and daughter are back.
Gao Qinghe put on her clothes and came out to see.
Jiang Yu was carrying a lot of things.
Jiang's mother unloaded the large cloth bags that were tied to both sides of the bicycle seat and carried them into the house.
Seeing Gao Qinghe, I couldn't help but smile at her and say happily:
"I made 25 yuan worth of buttons this month, and I just took Xiaoyu to the factory to settle the bill."
Jiang Yu still felt a bit unreal, like she was in a dream. She took the frozen shrimp and seasonings she had bought to the kitchen, put them away, and whispered in her sister-in-law's ear:
"Sister-in-law, this is the first time I've seen Mom ride a bicycle, and she can even carry me."
Moreover, her mother took her to the button factory to deliver goods and collect her wages, and also took her shopping and bought her a red fountain pen.
The young girl couldn't hide her desire to show off. She took out a paper-wrapped pen from her pocket, peeled it open layer by layer, and showed the dark red pen to her sister-in-law.
"Ten yuan, and Mom bought it without saying a word. I was flattered."
Jiang Yu recalled the scene, her eyes sparkling with happiness.
Gao Qinghe praised, "The pen is really beautiful."
Jiang's mother put away the button materials and came out of the house. Seeing the two women whispering to each other by the door, she asked curiously:
"What did you say?"
Jiang Yu was startled and quickly put away her pen, saying, "It's nothing."
She and her sister-in-law exchanged a glance, and both of them couldn't help but laugh, but dared not laugh out loud, so they covered their mouths.
A cold wind blew in, and Gao Qinghe gestured to her sister-in-law to close the door before sitting back down on the sofa to watch TV.
Jiang Yu took her homework, sat on a small stool, and started writing while leaning over the coffee table.
He was using a newly bought red fountain pen, writing very carefully, and occasionally letting out a "hmm~" laugh while resting his chin on his hand.
Gao Qinghe shook her head. Poor kid, so happy over a pen.
Jiang's mother always felt that her sister-in-law was hiding something from her, and she would peek out from the house into the living room from time to time, acting suspiciously.
After making buttons for two hours, it was almost time for Jiang's mother to finish and start preparing dinner.
Today, someone brought a large truckload of frozen shrimp to the city. Jiang's mother had never eaten such large shrimp before, so she gritted her teeth and bought a pound.
Thinking to myself, "Money is meant to be spent, so I might as well give it a try!"
The owner said to pour the dry pot into the pot, add two slices of ginger and two scallions to remove the fishy smell, cover the pot and simmer for three to five minutes, then take it out directly and make a sauce before eating.
Jiang's mother was also making this for the first time and wondered if it would burn when dried.
However, she has a flaw that is both a weakness and a strength: she is obedient.
So, following the shrimp vendor's instructions, I rinsed the shrimp briefly with water, and without caring whether the frozen pieces had thawed, I dumped them all into the hot dry pot and started to simmer. (End of Chapter)
