Chapter 3: Wen, is Chi not worthy of playing with you?
Jiang Shu rushed forward and helped Wen Jinnian up.

"Brother Jiang..." Fan Tong was about to speak when Wen Jin Nian spoke first, wiping her eyes with her hand, her voice trembling with tears.

"Brother, this Miss Fan Tong said I ruined your relationship with your wife, and that she's prettier than her. I just got back and I'm already being framed. I think I should go back to the country!"

Fan Tong watched as Wen Jinian gave her a provocative glare.

She paused, then lowered her head like a child who had done something wrong.

"She said that bag was a limited edition worldwide, and I, a country girl, couldn't afford to pay for it."

As she spoke, she wiped away the tears that had slipped from the corners of her eyes with her right hand.

Jiang Shu's cold eyes swept over Fan Tong. "Miss Fan, Niannian is my sister, she's a member of the Jiang family. I'll compensate you for your bag."

He changed the subject, saying, "Your words hurt others, apologize."

Fan Tong was seething with anger; it was all her fault for underestimating her opponent and being tricked.

Zhou Shiyi took a step forward and stood in front of Fan Tong. She looked at Jiang Shu with a guilty expression and said, "Brother Jiang."

"Tongtong was probably in a hurry and spoke without thinking."

She paused for a moment, then said, "Today is our engagement party, Brother Jiang, please don't hold it against her, okay?"

Jiang Shu raised his eyebrows, his gaze falling on Zhou Shiyi's face. After a moment's pause, he spoke coldly.

"It's just a bag. My sister, Jiang Shu's sister, is not someone anyone can bully."

Zhou Shiyi was embarrassed by these words, and her expression turned ugly.

At this moment, Wen Jinian, who had been silent all along, lowered her eyes and said softly, "Brother, let it go. I'm originally from the countryside. If it weren't for you and Uncle Jiang taking me in, I don't know where I would be."

“Niannian, that’s all in the past. You are now a member of the Jiang family, and you’re no worse than anyone else in any way.”

Wen Jinnian raised her eyes, her gaze meeting Jiang Shu's deep eyes with a strange emotion in them.

She quickly looked away.

"Brother, I don't blame her anymore."

Fan Tong winked at the man next to her, who understood immediately. He picked up the microphone and turned down the deafening music in the bar.

"Today is the engagement party for our CEO Jiang and Miss Zhou, let's all have a blast and play some games!"

Fan Tong chimed in, "Young Master Wu, let's play couple's dice. Today is Brother Jiang and Shiyi's engagement party. We have to liven things up, right?"

Wu Chi quickly began assigning seats. He directed the long tables to be joined together and moved the sofas from the opposite side over, arranging for men and women to sit on opposite sides.

Wen Jinnian quietly walked to the side and chose a seat at the very edge.

After everyone took their seats, they realized that the seat opposite Wen Jinnian was empty.

At this moment, Zhou Shiyi looked at Wen Jinnian, "Niannian, look, there's no one opposite you..."

Jiang Shu busied himself greeting him, knowing that if he could maintain a good relationship with this future heir of the Chijiang Group, he could secure his position as president and make things easier later on.

"Young Master Chi, how about we change seats?"

"No need, I think this spot is fine." The person standing said, then took off their trench coat and sat down.

Shen Yu had no intention of participating in the game, so he moved a chair and sat down on the side.

Wen Jinian suddenly stood up, not wanting to get involved in the game at all. As soon as she saw the person opposite her, she felt uneasy and had no interest in being in a group with him.

Zhou Shiyi, who was standing next to her, grabbed her arm. "Niannian, look, that's Prince Chi over there. It's a rare opportunity, so let's have some fun together."

In an instant, everyone's eyes were focused on her.

Wen Jinnian looked down at the hand whose sleeve was being pulled. The bright red nail polish clashed with the pigeon blood red on Jiang Shu's lapel pin, creating a striking contrast in the dim light. It was a breathtakingly perfect match.

The scene suddenly became lively again, with everyone cheering. Jiang Shu subconsciously looked at Wen Jinian.

Jiang Shu's clenched fist cracked, and Chi Yige glanced at it unintentionally.

Amidst everyone's cheers, the two ate oranges mouth-to-mouth. Wen Jinnian kept her head down the whole time. She never expected that after four years, seeing Jiang Shu being intimate with another woman would still hurt her heart.

She despised herself, saying she had promised to turn the page on the past, so why did her heart ache so much?

Fortunately, the bar was dimly lit, and most of her face was hidden in the thick, inky darkness, with only a small part of her outline faintly outlined by the occasional flashing neon lights.

The dazzling lights of Victoria Harbour shone through the spotless floor-to-ceiling windows, quietly falling on Wen Jinnian. She raised her eyes slightly, and her gaze met those hands opposite her.

Those hands were well-defined, fair and slender, with prominent joints, and the veins on the back of the hands were faintly visible with subtle movements. Just looking at them was enough to make one unable to look away.

Then the dice were passed to her.

She was about to get up when she found that her legs were trapped under the table and she couldn't move.

Wen Jinian finally raised her beautiful almond-shaped eyes and suddenly met Chi Yige's gaze.

He brazenly sized up Wen Jinnian, deliberately drawing out his words, "Wen, am I, Chi, not worthy to play with you?"
