Chapter 14 You're so beautiful, do you have a boyfriend?

Shen Yu slapped his thigh excitedly with his left hand: "I never thought that even the young master Chi would have a day when even an iron tree blooms!"

He glanced in the rearview mirror and met the other person's icy gaze, immediately changing his tune, "No, no, no, it's your friend! Your friend has fallen in love!"

Chi Yige: "..."

He suppressed the urge to slap the back of his head and asked through gritted teeth, "I want the method."

Shen Yu and Duan Jiayan grew up with Chi Yige since they were little.

They went to Harvard University together, skipped grades along the way, and then pursued graduate studies together.

Although both of them obtained doctoral degrees, Chi Yige is a gifted individual who has always been one step ahead of them in academic pursuits.

For so many years, Chi Yige has been like a flower on a high mountain, always the one who rejects others.

Thinking of Chi Yige's embarrassed expression, Shen Yu's lips curled up slightly, and his movements on the steering wheel became lighter before he slowly spoke, "Um..."

Chi Yige glanced at him. "Here's a Ferrari L96 GT3 model car for you."

Shen Yu made a "V" sign with his left hand.

This is a rare item, with only 199 units produced worldwide, and is valued at $18090.

He had been longing for this model for a long time, and coincidentally, Chi Yige had it. Now, all he had to do was ask him for it.

"First of all, you have to tell her that you like her, and then you have to keep talking, keep talking."

Shen Yu even glanced at Chi Yige through the rearview mirror with a hint of disdain.

He unusually put on airs and began to preach.

“You…” He coughed lightly, “Your friend’s aloof attitude won’t do.”

There was a long silence in the carriage before Chi Yige took out his phone and typed something out.

-
4 month 1 day.

A light drizzle was falling in the port area, and the sky was very low.

Wen Jinian stayed in the villa and didn't go out, keeping Wen Jin company.

In the afternoon, Wen Jin, as usual, invited the ladies next door to sit around the mahjong table. The sound of dominoes clashing mingled with laughter and banter in Cantonese.

Wen Jinnian leaned against the cushions, listening to them talk about everything from the tailoring of the cheongsams worn by the female lead in the new TVB drama, to the limited-edition bags she was carrying, to the "golden canary" that a wealthy man in Central had recently adopted, and then to which jewelry store in Tsim Sha Tsui had released a limited-edition dragon and phoenix bracelet. Even the fact that the new Filipino maid in the break room was secretly keeping her employer's designer bags had become a topic of conversation.

After listening for a moment, Wen Jinnian held the tablet and traced lines on the screen with her fingertips.

In the comic, the man leans lazily against the sofa, a cigar between his fingers and a wine glass in his other hand. His sharp gaze pierces through the rising smoke, while his entourage behind him exudes an air of arrogance and unruliness in every gesture.

She was carefully sketching the man's features when, suddenly, Chi Yige's excessively handsome face popped into her mind.

Just as she was lost in thought, Wen Jin called out to her, put down the cards, and said, "Play one round for me, I'm going to the restroom."

Wen Jinnian put down her tablet, sat down at the mahjong table, smiled at the wealthy ladies, and picked up a tile with her fingertips: "I can play, but I'm not very good at it."

Mrs. Fu from next door glanced at her, a smile playing on her lips: "Niannian, you must be 22 this year, right?"

Wen Jinian nodded and tossed Zhang Yibing to her.

"bump!"

The lady in the red dress, who was playing before me, quickly slapped her card down. "Wow, Nian Nian, what a lucky hand you have!"

As Mrs. Fu played her cards, she looked her up and down and asked, "You're so beautiful, are you dating anyone?"

Wen Jin Nian raised an eyebrow at the person opposite her in the haute couture dress, a sweet smile playing on her lips: "Auntie, are you going to introduce me to someone?"

"Anyone in our circle of acquaintances can guarantee you a life of comfort and security!"

Then Mrs. Fu launched into a tirade, trying to impose her view that a woman should marry a good man on Wen Jinian.

During the brief silence at the card table, the wife of the player before her played a card.

Wen Jinnian picked up the newly drawn cards, and the moment her fingertips touched the cards, the corners of her mouth involuntarily turned up: "Could I have won?" Before she finished speaking, she spread the cards out with a clatter.

The three of them leaned in simultaneously, gasps of astonishment rising and falling. "All of them are of the Thirteenth Rank."

A woman sitting to the left of Wen Jinnian made a sarcastic remark: "Niannian, your luck at cards is incredible, you don't seem like someone who can't play."

"It's all thanks to you aunties for being so kind," Wen Jinnian said calmly.

Wen Jin brought over a plate of fruit.

She glanced at the cards, a smile playing on her lips: "Niannian, you're having good luck!"

Wen Jinian got up and sat back on the sofa cushions. The rain outside the French windows continued to drizzle without any sign of stopping, and there were occasional claps of thunder.

Mrs. Fu turned her head and glanced at Wen Jinian, a calculating glint in her eyes, before instantly switching to a warm tone: "Mrs. Jiang, I heard that Nian Nian hasn't dated anyone yet? My son is about the same age as her, how about we arrange a meeting?"

The other two ladies immediately understood.

The Shen, Duan, Jiang, and Fu families are the four major aristocratic families in the port area. Mrs. Fu clearly wants to climb the social ladder through marriage.

The two men quickly chimed in, "My two boys are quite handsome, you've met them before, why don't we let the kids have a get-together?"

Wen Jin maintained a polite smile throughout, her gaze fixed on Wen Jinian, who remained silent with her head down, and said gently, "She's still young, there's no rush."

"You're already 22! You can date for a year or two and then get engaged and married, it's perfect!"

Every word they uttered reached Wen Jinian's ears, as did Jiang Shu, who had just returned from outside the villa and put away his umbrella.

Wen Jinnian's face showed no emotion. When Jiang Shu looked over from the entrance, she seemed to be sitting there obediently as always, looking serene and peaceful.

Not wanting to directly offend Wen Jin, Wen Jin could only give a vague reply: "We'll talk about it another time."

Mrs. Fu persisted, excitedly saying, "My son is having his birthday party in a few days, you must bring Niannian!"

Before Wen Jin could speak, Jiang Shu had already put down what she was holding and strode over to the mahjong table, her eyes crinkling with a smile: "What are you ladies talking about, chatting so animatedly?"

"Perfect timing!" Mrs. Fu's eyes lit up. "We were just talking about finding a good home for Niannian! My son's birthday party is in a few days, would you like to bring her along for the festivities, Mr. Jiang?"

Jiang Shu smiled gently and nodded in agreement: "I'll have to prepare the gift properly."

Mrs. Fu glanced at her watch, stood up and smiled, "I should go back and prepare dinner too."

Seeing this, the other ladies all stood up, and Wen Jin followed suit, seeing them out.

Jiang Shu sat down next to Wen Jinnian, and the leather sofa sagged slightly under his weight.

Wen Jinian paused, her pen poised, and then looked up and softly called out, "Brother."

He tapped the tablet on her lap with his long, slender fingers, his gaze falling on the line she was drawing halfway through: "What are you thinking, Niannian?"

The pale blue light from the tablet screen reflected on Wen Jinian's face, and she finally met the dark currents surging in his eyes. Clearly, he was referring to the blind date that the ladies had been urging her to arrange earlier.

Wen Jinnian rubbed the digital pen between her fingertips, not finding it surprising at all.

Although she lived in the Jiang family home, she was not a blood relative.

Given Jiang Xiao's personality, sooner or later he will use her as a bargaining chip to arrange a marriage with other prominent families in the port area, in order to pave the way for Jiang Shu's future.

She had deliberately buried herself in her painting, pretending to be well-behaved, but in reality, she had already planned ahead. This birthday banquet was clearly an excellent springboard for her.

By getting to know the young master of a prominent family, she was able to build a wider network of connections and plan for her future departure from the Jiang family.

"I want to go and see." She pressed the pen tip heavily, leaving a dot of ink, and smiled faintly as she looked up.

"Maybe I'll really meet the right person." She spoke to him in the same soft tone she used when they were children.

“Niannian, they are not good enough for you.” Jiang Shu held her hand urgently.

It's a battle! It's a battle of cuteness and beauty, my lovely darlings, keep reading!! You guys are amazing, adding so many bookshelves before even trying! You'd better get them up and running!!
