Chapter 123 Miss Wen is in trouble

Chapter 123 Miss Wen is in trouble
It was almost seven o'clock when Wen Jinnian arrived at the Peninsula Hotel by car.

Li Mingyi followed Wen Jinnian with the gift, and the two followed the waiter into the lobby.

Wen Jinian followed the waiter to Qilinlou, a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant with a private room that can host various parties. The decor is elegant and full of retro charm.

As soon as she reached the corridor, she saw Chen Si waving at her.

She wore a bright red bodycon halter dress, dressed very flamboyantly.

Chen Si said, "Ms. Wen, I'm so happy you could come."

When Li Mingyi presented the gifts, Wen Jinnian specifically mentioned that one of them was a gift from her brother. Chen Si said shyly, "It's good that you could come."

Wen Jinian nodded slightly, looked around, and saw many of the women she didn't recognize among the clinking of glasses.

Chen Si said to Li Mingyi, "Have your driver go get something to eat over there."

Wen Jinian nodded, and Li Mingyi then withdrew.

Chen Si led her forward. Under the crystal chandelier, the diamond necklaces around the necks of the female guests shimmered with a cold light, and their wrists were adorned with either jade bracelets or high-end custom bracelets.

The pearl embroidery on the dresses swayed with their movements, and some even wore emerald earrings, exuding luxury in every gesture.

During their conversation, they were comparing the jewelry and necklaces they were wearing. You could hear someone saying that this one was a limited edition, that one was bought by her brother, and this one was bought at an auction by her husband.

Wherever there are women, there is gossip.

Chen Si took two glasses of cocktails from the waiter, and Wen Jinnian took one of them. The two clinked glasses.

Wen Jinian wore a haute couture off-the-shoulder white fishtail dress today, making her look like a white lily. Her makeup was also exquisite, but rather understated.

Chen Si finally understood why Jiang Shu liked Wen Jin Nian's type, because she looked both innocent and alluring.

"Oh, Sisi, who is this young lady? I've never seen you bring her to parties before."

A woman with long, wavy hair walked over carrying a glass of champagne, the wine swirling gently inside.

Chen Si smiled and put her arm around Wen Jinnian's shoulder: "This is Miss Wen, the younger sister of Young Master Jiang from the Jiang Group."

She deliberately dragged out the last syllable, her gaze sweeping over several pairs of eyes that suddenly lit up around her. "Look at that aura, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she's a fairy descended from heaven, would it?"

"Nice to meet you!"

The curly-haired woman immediately clinked her champagne glass against Wen Jinian's glass.

Wen Jinian felt a little uncomfortable with Chen Si's intimate actions. She turned slightly to the side before clinking glasses with the curly-haired woman and exchanging a few more words.

The curly-haired woman's gaze remained fixed on her earlobe.

"Miss Wen's pearl earrings... could they be the finest Australian white pearls from the South Seas?"

Wen Jinian was taken aback; she hadn't noticed when Chi Yige put it on her.

"Look, the nacre is so thick it's like it's wrapped in moonlight, and each one has a perfectly round, mirror-like finish. I've seen similar ones at auctions, and they all started at seven figures!"

A murmur rippled through the crowd, and several pairs of eyes focused on her earring like searchlights.

Birthday parties are always about comparisons and competitions.

Wen Jinian was not used to contacting strangers, so she made an excuse to go to the restroom.

As soon as she came out of the restroom, Chen Si called out to her, "Ms. Wen, I have a few words to say. I wonder if we can talk?"

Wen Jinian frowned slightly, but still nodded.

Chen Si led the way, taking her to a room and ordering some refreshments.

Wen Jinnian looked around at the private rooms; the lighting was rather dim.

She frowned, wondering what Chen Si was up to.

As she sat down, she saw an incense burner beside the table, with wisps of smoke rising, carrying a faint fragrance, but she couldn't tell what it was.

Chen Si smiled and said, "Then I'll get straight to the point, Miss Wen, please have some tea."

Wen Jinian didn't drink, watching her warily. Chen Si smiled, picked up her cup of tea, took a sip, and ate some pastries. She then said to herself, "Miss Wen, do you know what kind of cooperation Young Master Jiang and I discussed?"

"I heard from my aunt that you two are going to date?" Chen Si felt something was very strange to Wen Jin Nian, and she felt uncomfortable all over.

"Yes, but it seems that Young Master Jiang's heart is with Liu Bei while he is in Cao Cao's camp. Miss Wen should know that the person he likes is you, right?"

Wen Jinian tightened her grip on her phone, looking at Chen Si with a puzzled expression.

"What does Miss Chen want to say?"

"What I'm trying to say is, if Young Master Jiang wanted you, would you still give him a chance?"

Wen Jinian's tone was a little cold, "I only see him as an older brother."

She figured Chen Si wasn't going to say anything nice next, so she stood up to leave, but as soon as she stood up, she felt a little dizzy and staggered back down.

Her gaze fell on the incense burner beside the stove, her brows furrowing. "You put something in the incense burner?"

Chen Si said, "Someone as smart as Miss Wen is naturally very vigilant, right? It's just a pity that I offered you tea but you didn't drink it, while I did, so I'm fine."

Wen Jinnian asked her, "What exactly do you want to do?"

Chen Si's eyes turned cold. "Of course I've investigated Miss Wen. I know you practiced Taekwondo abroad, and I'm aware of what happened after you returned to China."

She ate the pastry in small bites, without even looking up.

"And there's also the Crown Prince Chi's feelings for you."

"I don't understand, Miss Chen."

"I just want to see how important you are to them."

Wen Jinian was still clear-headed. "Then what are you going to collaborate with my brother on?"

"It's just a two-pronged approach."

Chen Si isn't stupid; she has leverage over Chi Yige, and she must make the most of it.

-

As dusk gilded the Victoria Peak villa district, Duan Jiaxu carried large and small bags.

Duan Jiayan leaned against the car door, looking at his serious expression, and finally couldn't help but laugh out loud: "You're usually so carefree, it's rare to see you like this today!"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Duan Jiaxu kicked him. "If my parents weren't on an Antarctic expedition, would I be this nervous?"

In the second-floor entryway, Fu Yiyi leaned on the carved railing and peered down. Chi Min caught a glimpse of his daughter's anxious expression and couldn't help but complain, "Is your soul practically flying to the door? A girl should at least have some self-respect."

Fu Yiyi's mother, Fu Yuan, gave Chi Min a reproachful look, "Weren't you the same back then?"

Chi Min coughed and said, "Let's go out and pick them up. There's no need to give them such a hard time. Their parents already apologized via video call yesterday."

"You're only just finding out?"

With that, the two walked over together.

Just then, a Maybach drove in through the door; it was Chi Yige returning.

Duan Jiaxu turned around and saw him, immediately flattering him: "Brother Chi, you've finally arrived. We're counting on you today."

Chi Min came out to greet them with a smile, and after exchanging greetings, they walked together into the hall.

Fu Yuan said directly, "We also had a video call with your parents yesterday, and both families were very satisfied."

Duan Jiaxu handed over the prepared dragon invitation.

An elder of the Chi family was sitting on the sofa. He took the dragon invitation and prepared to write one for each of them, one for the man and one for the woman. The man's invitation was called the Dragon Invitation, and the woman's invitation was called the Phoenix Invitation.

Fu Yiyi peeked into the living room from the entrance, her heart pounding.

Just then, the driver rushed in from outside the villa and whispered in Chi Yige's ear, "Miss Wen has had an accident."
