Chapter 361 Let's Vote

Wang Xiaoming frowned as he considered the feasibility of the plan. After a brief moment of thought, his eyes lit up and he realized that there was indeed a possibility of success.

So he immediately continued to think along these lines, preparing to come up with a specific execution plan, how to lure the ghost painting, how to handle any unexpected events that might occur, and the possible outcomes, both good and bad.

However, this is not something Wang Xiaoming can come up with all in a short time.

Wang Xiaoming immediately stood up and told Cao Yanhua that he needed to leave the meeting to calculate the feasibility of the plan, and Cao Yanhua readily agreed.

Meanwhile, the others at the meeting, recovering from their astonishment at Wang Liang's attempt to imprison the ghost messengers and successfully rescue nine people, began whispering among themselves about the new plan proposed by Wang Liang.

Some agreed, some disagreed, but no new solutions could be proposed, and the meeting was noisy.

However, the excessive tension from before had subsided, as Wang Liang had already demonstrated his ability to control the ghost messengers directly, only lacking the means to completely imprison them.

This means that the situation with the ghost messengers won't completely deteriorate, as there's a powerful figure backing them up.

If the ghost messengers move to kill again, headquarters will definitely pay a price to have Wang Liang take control again, so they don't have to face that terrifying S-class ghost themselves.

Meanwhile, at the conference table, Jiang Shangbai listened to the discussions around him: their admiration for Wang Liang, their envy of Wang Liang for earning 18 ghost candles in one go, and the discussion about the feasibility of the bold plan of summoning ghost paintings.

Jiang Shangbai's face was somewhat dark, and his mood was heavy.

After Wang Liang left the meeting room, he didn't say another word. Before, he didn't dare to, and now he wasn't in the mood.

Wang Liang did not defeat the ghost messenger, but he demonstrated the ability to directly suppress an S-level vengeful ghost, thus accomplishing another significant feat.

In this situation, given that Wang Liang's relationship with his circle of friends was not particularly good, and that he had even previously considered physically killing him on the spot, there's definitely something to it!

This left Jiang Shangbai with no time to discuss the situation with those around him; he simply wanted to report the situation to General Manager Fang as soon as possible.

Avoiding the gaze of those around him, Jiang Shangbai secretly took out his phone from under the table, quickly edited a message, and sent it out.

The top floor of Ping An Building

Currently in Beijing, some influential people in my social circle have gathered together again because of a message.

"You all know about the latest news Jiang Shangbai sent from headquarters, right? What are your thoughts?"

Wearing a casual suit and resting his chin on his hands, Fang Shiming stared expressionlessly at the dozen or so people gathered around the conference table, each with a different expression.

The tall and alluring Li Yao stood quietly behind him, holding a tablet computer, her delicate eyebrows furrowed.

To Fang Shiming's left, a middle-aged man also dressed in a suit, addressed as "General Manager Fei," hesitated for a moment before asking:
"I don't know much about your ghost tamers. If the matter of the ghost messengers is also completely resolved, what are the chances that Wang Liang will eventually become the captain?"

Someone sighed: "President Fei, it's not a matter of probability anymore. He can even confront those terrifying ghosts with no way to suppress them. Headquarters can't possibly give up on winning Wang Liang over. Plus, with the matter of the island nation, I reckon he'll definitely get a spot as captain."

"Ha, Jiang Shangbai said that Wang Liang almost beat him up in public during the meeting. Humph, he's completely reckless. Does headquarters really dare to let someone like that be the team leader? What does he think our circle of friends is? I don't believe Wang Liang doesn't know that Jiang Shangbai is one of our people," someone said discontentedly.

Fang Shiming frowned slightly, though it was unclear why.

The person who spoke first shook his head and said, "If you put it that way, do you think headquarters would give up because of this? He's the only person in the world who has solved more than one S-level paranormal event, yet he didn't become a team leader. It's impossible. I wouldn't be surprised if Wang Liang left headquarters because of this. Headquarters would never let such a thing happen."

"What if Cao Yanhua has lost his mind? After all, he's the kind of person who would trade three months' salary for the life of one of our friends," another person sneered. "Alright, I think I understand now," President Fei tapped the table, stopping the two from arguing, while others whispered amongst themselves.

"According to you, it's a done deal that Wang Liang will become the captain, and you've already failed to win him over before, right?"

President Fei glanced at Li Yao, who quickly nodded and said, "Yes, not only Wang Liang, but his student Yang Jian also rejected our attempts to win him over."

"Yang Jian?" President Fei frowned. "If I remember correctly, in a recent meeting, it was mentioned that he was also nominated as the team captain?"

Someone below nodded and said, "That's right, but Yang Jian is a newcomer, so the chances of him becoming the captain are probably slim."

“Wang Liang is also a ‘newcomer’,” someone added, leaving the other person speechless.

President Fei looked at one of the people sitting at the conference table: "He Tianxiong, why aren't you saying anything? What's your opinion?"

Just then, He Tianxiong realized something and clapped his hands: "With President Fei's help, I have a plan that will surely make Wang Liangyang give up his captaincy and obediently join us."

President Fei waved his hand: "Forget it, you don't need to say anything more. There's no need to win Wang Liang over anymore. Besides, we already have a significant conflict with him, so it's not advisable to bring him into our circle of friends. Otherwise, we'll lose sight of priorities, right, President Fang?"

Fang Shiming didn't speak, but nodded slightly, his gaze deep.

Mr. Fei continued, "Initially, the only reason for winning over Wang Liang was to increase the influence of my circle of friends and to use money and benefits to undermine his power in a different way."

But judging from Wang Liang's current behavior, he's not the type to be easily tempted or sidelined. Therefore, I propose we eliminate him before he's appointed captain and starts building up his own faction. Let's vote by show of hands.”

After he finished speaking, Mr. Fei was the first to raise his hand.

A brief silence fell over the meeting room. Mr. Fei, an ordinary person with no deep understanding of the paranormal world, uttered some astonishing words that left some of the attendees feeling somewhat suffocated.

Mr. Fei did not think he had said anything wrong. In his judgment, there was Mr. Fang, who was also a top ghost tamer, leading the way, along with more than a dozen ghost tamers of all sizes in his circle of friends.

They all used the kind of vengeful ghost ability that could easily kill ordinary people to deal with one person. No matter how strong that person was, they were still just a person, and they would still die.

Even knowing that the aftermath of Wang Liang and Ye Zhen's battle had killed thousands of people, President Fei did not change his mind.

After all, in his understanding, ghost tamers were all high-attack, low-defense characters, some of whom could be killed with a gun.

The outcome of a one-on-one fight versus a group brawl, or a planned surprise attack by a group of people, is completely different.

They've done this kind of thing before, it's just that this time the target is more difficult.

“I agree.” The ghost tamer who had previously expressed dissatisfaction with Wang Liang raised his hand.

"Sigh, you should have said so earlier! I spent ages thinking about it before I came up with a good idea." He Tianxiong also raised his hand.

Soon, most of the dozen or so people around the conference table raised their hands, some genuinely in agreement, others simply following suit.

Only a few remained hesitant and uneasy, but they could no longer make any decisions.
