Chapter 70: Reflections on the Release

Chapter 70: Reflections on the Release (Available at 12: tomorrow)
Ergeng wrote this book mainly to fulfill his childhood dream of martial arts, so he set very low goals when he started writing it.

After all, it's a martial arts story, featuring natives, eunuchs, no female lead, no cheat codes, and my terrible reputation—it was a truly disastrous start with a mountain of negative elements. I gritted my teeth and decided to make it a masterpiece.

I didn't dare to publish a separate chapter in the old book, for fear of being seen as reverse publicity.

The series had been serialized for tens of thousands of words, and as expected, it was a dismal failure, with only 1,000 favorites in ten days and barely 3,000 favorites in twenty days.

Unexpectedly, after being recommended, the number of readers surged, and it even managed to sit at the top of the new book chart for two days.

I am filled with trepidation and immense gratitude.

According to palace rules, I'd like to first kowtow to you gentlemen and wish you all good fortune, happiness, and longevity!
If gentlemen find it pleasing to the eye, a simple first subscription would be an immense favor!

Let's return to the dream of martial arts—

Before becoming addicted to online novels, Ergeng mainly read martial arts films and television dramas and magazines.

Needless to say, TV dramas based on Jin Yong's works dominate the market, and when "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" plays in karaoke, it's like stepping back in time twenty years.

The magazine that left the deepest impression on me was "Legends of Today and Yesterday: Martial Arts Edition". Back then, I would eat white flour buns dipped in soybean paste every day and squeeze out money from between my teeth to subscribe.

During my middle school years, I was in a boarding school. After evening self-study, I would hide under the covers and read novels with a flashlight. I even dreamed about the sequels to "Shattering Blade," "Kunlun," "Peak," and "Canghai."

Later, he secretly wrote a martial arts novel, but I've long forgotten what it was called.

The plot is roughly as follows: the former leader of the martial arts alliance retires from the world, while the new leader is secretly the head of a demonic sect. In order to destroy the righteous sects, he frames the former leader for crimes such as abducting women and murdering entire families, framing him as a great demon. When the new leader convenes a demon-slaying conference, the protagonist, the former leader, appears, exposes the demonic conspiracy, and saves the righteous sects.

That's roughly what happened; looking back now, the plot is quite cliché.

I was planning to send it to the "Legend of Today and Yesterday" magazine, hoping that if it was accepted, I could earn some extra money and have a chicken leg with my meal.

Before the story was even finished, the homeroom teacher confiscated the notebook, and the author received a lecture. The second update returned to normal: only reading, no more writing.

Now that the magazine has ceased publication, Er Geng is getting old, and his love for martial arts has cooled down.

More than a decade has passed in a daze, until a couple of months ago when I was reading on Qidian and discovered several martial arts novels with outstanding performance, which stirred up my calm heart again...

After much deliberation, I picked up my pen and wrote down the two characters "督公" (Du Gong).

Because the works of predecessors such as Jin Yong and Feng Ge basically combine history and martial arts, they have had a profound influence on Er Geng's creations. Therefore, the main storyline of the book is historical change.

Wuxia is a dream that can fulfill all fantasies!
Having ditched the sentimentality, let's get down to business.

"The Eunuch" will be available tomorrow at 12 noon. I sincerely ask that readers who are following the story and waiting for it to be published to make an initial subscription, and I will continue to read it slowly afterward.

I dare not boast about updating more chapters every day. I'm tentatively set to two chapters a day (except when I'm on leave), and I'll add one chapter for every 3 monthly votes (currently I'm adding three chapters).

Respectfully yours, may you rest in peace!
