Chapter 87 The Cat's First Date

Chapter 87 The Cat's First Date

Mount Omuro resembles a giant matcha cake, nestled on the Izu coast, its vermilion torii gates adding a vibrant touch of sweetness.

After nearly three hours of public transportation, we arrived at Mount Omuro around lunchtime.

Because of the immense popularity of "Your Name," and the peak tourist season, the cable car entrance was packed with people; if you wanted to queue, you'd have to wait until at least the afternoon.

Shirakawa Momo tugged at Kuronuma Kiba's sleeve, stood on tiptoe to observe the crowded flow of people, and curled her lip in disdain: "I hate crowded places."

"I hate it, too."

Kuronuma held her shoulder to keep her from getting lost, and with his other hand he raised the camera he had bought yesterday to take pictures of Mount Omuro to prove that he had been there: "There wasn't a single tourist at Cape Lovers yesterday, not even a wild boar."

"Yesterday, Lover's Cape issued a notice that the walking trail would be temporarily closed for maintenance."

"I see."

"Are you done filming? Let's go."

"Where?"

"A place with few people."

Shirakawa Momo frowned slightly, tugged at his sleeve, and moved away from the queue. They arrived at the entrance to the hiking trail, and she looked up, her golden eyes reflecting the bright sunlight.

Mount Omuro is an extinct volcano with an elevation of only 580 meters, and hiking up the mountain was not difficult for the two who maintained their exercise habits.

However, there weren't enough scenic views to take good photos of; there were food carts, tourists, and litter everywhere.

Kuronuma also lacked confidence in his photography skills, which he had never learned.

"Do you want to climb up?"

With a cold expression and an annoyed tone, Shirakawa Momo kicked away a discarded can from a tourist's feet with disdain as she wore black sneakers: "I'm a little hungry."

It was their first time traveling together, and she didn't want to spoil the fun, but she just couldn't muster any interest in this kind of place.

Kuronuma turned his head and saw her looking troubled. He turned off the camera, slung it diagonally over his shoulder with the strap, and said in a feigned regretful tone, "I thought I could leave behind some wonderful memories."

"Is it okay next time?"

Shirakawa Momo looked up and met his gaze. Seeing the genuine disappointment in his dark eyes, she hesitated briefly before making up her mind: "Tell me in advance where you want to go next time, and I'll plan your trip."

A gentle breeze brushed against his short black hair, dispelling the faint sense of detachment in his words.

She raised her face and made a firm promise, her eyes resolute, even her cold expression was quite endearing.

"Okay, let's just wander around for now."

Kuronuma Kiba habitually raised his hand to rub her head, but Shirakawa Momo's lips quickly fell down. She impatiently slapped his hand away and turned to walk towards the shore.

"I'm still angry. This philandering scumbag isn't allowed to touch me."

After saying that, she raised her leg and gently kicked Kuronuma.

On the bus to Higashi-Izu, Shirakawa Momo pondered how to stop Kuronuma Yakako, and finally came up with only three solutions.

The simplest way would be to have Hatsushino Ryo restrict him, but she is cold-blooded and has no possessiveness.

The most difficult solution would be to introduce new principles to Black Swamp Fang, but this would conflict with his objectives.

That leaves only the most troublesome method: to monitor Black Swamp Fang constantly, secretly sabotage him, and prevent other women from giving themselves away for free.

Thinking about this, Shirakawa Momo's mood was as tangled as the headphone cord in her pocket.

I should have kept my distance from him, but the situation is so complicated that there is no other way but to do so.

Kuronuma Kiba strolled leisurely behind her, amused by Shirakawa Momo's petite figure, and said in a good mood, "I'll buy you a cake later."

"That won't work either, unless you promise me you won't be unfaithful."

"Give up on it sooner rather than later."

"Scum!" Under the clear blue sky, the two bypassed the tourists queuing at the cactus zoo opposite Mount Omuro and entered a small commercial street. They planned to have lunch, stroll along the beach for a while, and then return to Shuzenji Town.

As she passed a dessert shop, Shirakawa Momo's nose twitched slightly, and she stopped to look at the poster displayed in front of the shop.

[New Product Launch! Butter Baked Rice Cake!]
[Crispy crust! Soft and chewy! Multiple flavors!]
"Want to eat this?" Noticing her gaze, Kuronuma Kiba walked over without saying a word and pushed open the glass door, and a sweet smell wafted out.

Inside the clean and bright glass display cases, various desserts, cakes and breads are neatly arranged, like an army ready to go, at any time to conquer the taste buds of customers with their sweet and delicious flavors.

"It's a bit expensive." Shirakawa Momo walked to the cabinet where the butter-baked rice cakes were displayed and frowned with heartache.

Four cream puffs are priced at 500 yen each, while eight similarly sized cream puffs can be bought for the same price, making it twice as expensive.

"Is it expensive?"

Kuronuma had no concept of dessert prices and said to the approaching clerk, "Please pack one order of buttered mochi and one order of cream puffs."

Then, he took out his wallet from his pants pocket, ready to pay the bill.

It wasn't expensive at all; two desserts only cost 1 yen. After dating Suzuka, my wallet was basically filled with 1 yen bills.

Shirakawa Momo reached out and grabbed Kuronuma Kiba, who was walking towards the cashier, and said in a cold, unhappy tone, "I'll pay for it myself."

"This is a friend's fee."

Kuronuma looked at the various desserts, then suddenly glanced back at her chest, a wicked smile playing on his lips: "But cream puffs go really well with you."

Shirakawa Momo is a cream puff, Toyama Chitose is a slightly larger egg tart, Hatsushino Ryo is a perfectly shaped soufflé, and Shinkai Shiona is an outrageously large pineapple bun.

He had an urge to pack up all sorts of desserts to give to them, so he said to the shop assistant who was packing cream puffs, "Could you please give me another box of egg tarts and a pineapple bun?"

Since Suzu has already returned to Tokyo, it's not really appropriate to bring sweets back as souvenirs. You could wait until you have time to go on a date at Jiyugaoka in Meguro Ward, where there are many dessert shops and it's known as the "Dessert Forest".

Shirakawa Momo looked at his malicious smile, thought for a moment, then her face instantly darkened, her golden eyes flashed with coldness, and she said through gritted teeth:

"I'm really getting angry."

"It's okay, you're cute right now."

Black Swamp Fang seemed to see the anger bar above her head slowly accumulating, and once it reached its peak, she would jump up and scratch people with her sharp claws.

"You idiot with a head full of dirty jokes." Shirakawa Momo took a step forward, her voice laced with the sound of teeth grinding.

A cat that doesn't argue is definitely cuter. In the past, she would definitely have said something like "I don't care".

Thinking to himself, Kuronuma Kiba ignored the cold wind blowing in his face, raised his hand and rubbed her head to comfort her: "Don't worry, I won't dislike you."

"Are we in a relationship where we can talk about this kind of thing?"

"Actually, I have a way to help you."

"Get out!" Shirakawa Momo kicked him in frustration, her golden eyes filled with resentment.

Just then, the most out-of-place person walked into the cake shop, and his energetic voice sounded particularly jarring.

"Hey? Momo and Kuronuma-kun, are you here at the zoo to see Kapibala too?"

Kuronuma Kiba looked in the direction of the sound and saw Shinkai Shiona walking towards the two of them. He took two steps back, his black eyes filled with helplessness.
"Shinkai, I always thought you were good at reading between the lines."

"Hmm?" Shinkai Shiona tilted her head in confusion, then saw Shirakawa Momo slowly turn her head back mechanically, her golden eyes shooting out a gaze that could kill.

A chilling sense of danger crushed the sweet scent in the air.

What's with that look of utter disdain for trash?!
Shinonome Shionai raised her hand to cover her collar, moved her weak legs backward, and asked with a frightened expression on her innocent face, "What...did I do something wrong?"

It's original sin, Shinkai-kun.

Kuronuma turned and walked to the cashier to pay.
