Chapter 598: Massacre Everywhere!
Chapter 598: Massacre Everywhere!
In just one night, eight more suspected mass killings were reported across the United States. These incidents were unrelated except that most of them came from states on the East Coast.
By the next day, the number of cases had risen to 15.
“We have no clues at all. Signal detection shows that the massacre is happening everywhere, and there is communication everywhere. The signal transmission between them has seriously affected our observation. It can be said that we know nothing about the massacre - we have no idea which one is the massacre.”
When Peter arrived at the Airbus team's safe house, they encountered the arriving Airbus team. Fitz nervously explained his equipment and current situation to Coulson. Skye, overhearing this, muttered, "Doesn't this sound like Carnage cut himself up and shipped him out?"
"That might be the case, but we didn't find any trace of the package."
Fitz said, also expressing his bewilderment: "Symbiotes may be able to hide themselves, but they can't hide themselves in non-organic bodies. We checked all the pets and animal deliveries—unless it's inside a very small animal, in which case that's a different story."
"Symbiotes cannot parasitize small organisms, which would shorten their lifespan. In fact, unless there is a special environment to contain them, symbiotes without a host will die very quickly."
Peter mentioned it casually when he arrived, but then added, "Of course, massacres are a bit special, and I can't guarantee that this pattern applies to all cases."
"Therefore, symbionts need a host that is large enough, and we can at least rule out insects and the like."
As soon as Fitz finished speaking, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s alarm system sounded another alarm, providing new location information for similar incidents. Peter, who had seen the map, quickly started working on the computer and silently began calculating something. He soon zoomed in on the map to the south of New York, roughly in the area of Virginia and West Virginia.
"We assume that this infection is random, rather than specifically targeting certain groups, and that it occurs in multiple locations, almost in the same place. Then, combining our knowledge of the massacres and our capabilities, we can analyze these past cases in a radial pattern to find the center of the radiation—"
Peter pointed to the projected map: "It's probably around there."
"Immediately connect to the information center and check the number of recent missing persons cases in that area." Coulson quickly made the arrangements, and then sorted out the recent cases: "Among these two, there are two missing persons cases and three traffic accidents, one of which involved a victim with a fractured skull, but the police believe it was caused by the head hitting a tree branch."
As for the rest, there are basically no problems.
Perhaps this is where the massacre was hiding?
Before Coulson could continue his analysis, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s alarm system went off one after another. When the alarms reached as far north as Chicago and Boston, and as far south as Florida, Coulson knew something was terribly wrong.
If we consider this massacre and infection as a disease, then the incubation period is over, and the plague has already arrived.
Upon witnessing this, Peter casually asked, "Has Otto Octavia's molecular oscillator been found?"
“No, it will probably take a while before those who realize how troublesome the problem is ‘suddenly’ discover this thing. But by then, it might be too late.” Coulson shook his head helplessly and looked at Peter: “Are you sure the massacre is probably there? Spider-Man?”
"It's pretty much confirmed. I need to get there now. The Avengers and other heroes will be there to support the city where the massacre has occurred. Don't worry."
Peter turned to leave, but Coulson stopped him. "How about taking our plane? I promise it'll be quick, and we can pick someone up too." "Sure?"

A few minutes later, as the Airbus base flew towards the Appalachian Mountains, Peter encountered the person delivered by S.H.I.E.L.D., and this time the choice of recipient was quite unexpected. It wasn't Agent Venom, nor any of the Thunderbolts' superpowered individuals.
Surprisingly, it was Jessica Drew who arrived.
"I don't quite understand, senior, but... why you?"
“Good question. I don’t know either. If I had to say, it’s probably because of the terrain.” Jessica wasn’t sure why she needed to be transferred here for this mission. After all, she wasn’t suited to fighting symbiotes. After thinking about it carefully, there was probably only one possibility.
"terrain?"
“The Appalachian Mountains don’t have skyscrapers or cliffs everywhere, so your spider silk probably won’t be of much use. So, am I going to be considered air support? After all, I can fly and I can also launch energy.”
So, apart from being bitten by a spider and being able to climb walls, what exactly does this ability have to do with spiders?
Peter didn't say anything. As the Airbus arrived over the Appalachian Mountains, Peter, led by Ward, went to the small door of the Airbus, and then jumped out after the door opened.
Jessica looked at Ward, a little confused: "Did he bring a parachute?"
“No.” Ward frowned, then smiled at Jessica. “Do you need a parachute?”
"Uh, no need, I can fly."
Ignoring how the flying senior would land, Peter swooped down from the sky to the ground. His brand-new nanosuit began to work, collecting signals from nearby symbiotes and then performing an overall analysis. Peter used a spider web to pull out a parachute in mid-air before landing on the ground.
Then, Jessica landed lightly beside him and asked with a hint of curiosity, "Before I came down, they installed a detection device on my goggles, saying it could detect where the symbiotes were... Did I see that wrong?"
"No, it's obvious, senior."
Peter looked around. The surrounding woods seemed empty, but both the spider senses and the detection signals proved one thing: slaughter was everywhere, all around them.
Finally, they witnessed the massacre.
One after another, mutilated zombie moose appeared at the edge of the field of vision. They had the forward-looking eyes of predators, and they opened their mouths, their lower jaws splitting open like spiders to reveal sharp teeth.
Crimson symbiotes covered the bodies of the zombie deer, which charged toward the two men with cries that sounded like a woman's wail.
