Chapter 588 How to destroy a beehive?
The problem Spider-Man on Earth TRN-011 is experiencing right now is not a mental attack, but rather information disruption. In his mind, he can simultaneously perceive hundreds of different states occurring in the same place, which gives him a feeling similar to nausea.
After staring at Peter for a while, clutching his head, he became certain of one thing: what had happened here was the work of someone else. But what had he just heard? Gwen?
Gwen Stacy?
"What...what did you just say?!"
The claws stabbed at Peter without warning, but Peter, who had developed his spider-sense to the point of being able to anticipate attacks in a short time, easily dodged the symbiote Spider-Man's blow, and then punched the latter in the face. For some reason, he just felt incredibly satisfied to slap the other person in the face.
Seeing the symbiote collapse and reveal the true form of the symbiote Spider-Man was incredibly satisfying.
However, Gwen encountered another problem.
"Hey, smart kid, how's it going on your end? Anything going smoothly?"
"It's alright. Keep following the instructions and see if you can collect enough data..."
"I'm afraid that won't work!"
Gwen's shout was not without reason; she was being chased by the black cat at that moment. Like other villains in this universe, the black cat had also been infected by the symbiote, thus gaining even greater power.
For Gwen, who only possesses spider abilities, an enemy with a symbiote is obviously extremely difficult to deal with.
"I'm being chased by Felicia from another world right now, and what's worse, I'm wearing this damn heavy helmet!"
Peter was completely baffled by what this troublesome situation was. After punching the symbiote Spider-Man away, he retorted, "Can't you just make her forget you?"
"Then what about your side?"
When Gwen's forgetfulness ability is activated, not only is she forgotten, but even Mysterio's helmet's abilities malfunction. She does interfere with the symbiote's senses, but because of her ability, the symbiote Spider-Man perceives this interference as normal and fails to detect anything amiss.
In other words, if the experiment is to proceed normally, Gwen cannot use her ability to forget.
Peter dodged the symbiote Spider-Man's attack with a backflip, then shot out webs from his hands to stick to the webs the symbiote was shooting at him. He then dragged the symbiote and slammed it hard against a building: "Couldn't you have run away first before resuming the experiment?"
Gwen's answer remained the same as always.
"What about you?"
"Believe me, if I wanted to take this guy down, I could do it anytime."
Peter squinted as he spoke, then charged forward, first dodging a punch from the symbiote Spider-Man, then immediately following up with a punch that struck the other man in the abdomen.
"Are you really planning to keep fighting me? It seems the symbiote has not only weakened your sense of humor, but also your spider-sense."
Peter threw another punch, then did a somersault and kicked the man in the head: "Can't you even look at the situation?! What have you gained?"
"What did I get?! I don't care what I got!"
With just one sentence, Peter enraged his counterpart in another world. This counterpart didn't dodge Peter's attack, catching his fist and letting him disintegrate the symbiote within him, before smashing his head against Peter's forehead, sending him staggering back a step or two. "What have I gotten as Spider-Man?! I've saved this world, this city countless times!"
His claws had become even sharper than before, and one claw almost tore the symbiote off Peter's chest. Peter took a step or two back and was then attacked swiftly by the symbiote's tentacles. The speed was so fast that Peter almost couldn't react.
"And this city, this world, has never given me anything! Not even a thank you! I've only been losing more and more!"
"My power isn't enough to save the others! I have to rely on the symbiote's power to save this city. MJ is disappointed in me!"
As the symbiote Spider-Man continued his attack, Peter switched to a defensive stance, constantly dodging the symbiote Spider-Man's attacks.
"I can't save my lover! I can't save my friends! I've watched one good person after another turn into a villain and then I have to fight them! I've had enough!"
The symbiote on his body erupted instantly, and Peter swiftly dodged and weaved, using his spider-sense to evade the attacks. But this was exactly what the other party wanted to do; he completely blocked Peter's movement path, forcing Peter to move according to his will, then grabbed Peter by the neck, lifted him up, and slammed him to the ground, pounding him mercilessly.
"If that's the case, why should I continue?"
“I have to say…it sounds reasonable, but there’s a problem—”
"Nobody ever said we have to become Spider-Man!"
Peter, pinned to the ground, kicked the symbiote Spider-Man in the chin, then quickly followed up with the kicked Spider-Man and began his attack: "This was never an obligation, but a voluntary act. Even if you're planning to give up, there's no need to go to such extremes!"
Peter, charging back, headbutted the symbiote Spider-Man: "With great power comes great responsibility—that was never a curse. You turned it into one yourself, and now you're blaming him?"
The symbiote Spider-Man was taken aback. He had originally thought that the younger version of himself would use Uncle Ben to dissuade him, but the other side did not.
But that's precisely why he felt the other person might be right. He had indeed gained power, and he could indeed give up becoming Spider-Man, but did he really have to become who he was now?
Join that so-called Spider Web Legion? Take control of all of New York and fight your old friends to the death?
The Spider-Man life isn't what I want. Is this what I want?
The symbiote Spider-Man's thoughts didn't last long before a burst of gunfire interrupted their conversation. Peter immediately jumped up to avoid the barrage of shots and then looked toward the source of the fire.
That was the black cat from this universe, arriving at the scene dressed in a symbiote suit. Peter took two steps back, looking at his other self with some confusion.
"Okay, I have to say, the symbiote is indeed quite good, and you can control it. But why design a symbiote suit for Black Cat with its body exposed in the middle? What kind of personal taste is that?"
The symbiote Spider-Man snapped out of his daze and looked at Peter.
"...I suddenly realized that Peter Parker's mouth can indeed ruin a lot of things."
