Chapter 581 What is a massacre?
Chapter 581 What is a massacre?
Peter was unhappy about his date being interrupted, but Cindy was even more upset. And since this operation was led by S.H.I.E.L.D., Cindy, as an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, naturally joined in.
She was probably seething with anger and planning to unleash a massacre—though she probably couldn't win.
"The data on the massacre is basically out. Although it's a bit unbelievable, we've roughly compiled a list of parameters."
Simmons posted all of Carnage's stats to show everyone. It's safe to say that, in terms of all the data, Carnage far surpasses Venom, reaching a terrifying level of power.
The power data already demonstrated exceeds 80 tons, which is even greater than Peter's current strength with Anti-Venom, not to mention that the host, Lightning, is just an ordinary Venom agent.
"That's not a problem. I mean, we have Spider-Man anyway, right?"
Faced with the fact that he couldn't beat Carnage, Flash was a little discouraged, but he quickly realized that if Carnage was a very scary enemy, then we didn't need him to deal with it. Didn't we have the invincible Spider-Man?
“About this…yes, Anti-Venom can easily harm Carnage, but Carnage seems a little different.” Peter recalled the scene of Carnage running away when attacked: “It’s like…I can’t catch him completely.”
"We also have speculations about this, specifically based on the comparison between the carnage sample you found, Spider-Man, and previously discovered symbiotes."
As Simmons spoke, he showed the difference between the carnage and ordinary symbiotes under an electron microscope on the big screen: "Although ordinary symbiotes are highly molecular organisms, their connections are made through molecular communication. In other words, these cells are part of a huge symbiote, and they can rapidly self-replicate using this molecularly structured body."
Just like Venom can transform into a Hulk-like large form, this is also one of the symbiote's abilities.
“And Carnage…we found that each of its molecular structures exhibits very obvious independent activity, and even when separated from its host, they remain very active…” Simmons concluded at this point: “It’s as if each molecule of Carnage is a symbiotic entity.”
“A symbiotic hive consciousness network.” Peter looked at the massacre sample under the electron microscope and immediately realized the difference between the massacre, or more precisely, the massacre he was about to face, and other symbiotes: “Each molecule of the massacre is an individual symbiote. They rely on the mind of the massacre to carry out unified actions. Rather than saying that the massacre is a symbiote, it is more accurate to say that it is a symbiotic hive consciousness network composed of countless molecular-level symbiotes.”
Simmons nodded: "Absolutely right."
Now Peter was even more certain that Nal was involved. The massacre was a small network of symbiotes, not a single symbiote, something only Nal could accomplish.
"This also explains why high temperatures and sound waves are ineffective against killing; it can rapidly regenerate itself through high-speed self-replication and the separation between different molecules. Moreover, because these molecules are not inherently connected, their molecular structure cannot be easily destroyed."
After listening attentively to the entire explanation, Lightning realized that he hadn't understood a single word.
"Um, so, do we have a way to deal with him?"
"The only way to completely eradicate Carnage is to wipe it out completely, leaving not a single cell. The other way is to find a way to separate Carnage from Cletus—"
Peter paused for a moment, then his furrowed brow relaxed. Carnage wasn't without weaknesses; his greatest weakness was that he still needed a host. Although fully merging with Cletus would transform them into monomolecular symbionts, it didn't mean Cletus would disappear.
"With Dr. Octopus's molecular oscillator, if we can separate Carnage and Cletus, we can easily eliminate Carnage."
Peter then looked at the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present. He remembered that all of Doctor Octopus's corpses had been recovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. So, theoretically, that thing should also be with S.H.I.E.L.D.
Unexpectedly, Fitz shook his head when he heard about it for the second time.
“We’d heard Agent Venom mention it once before, but we… didn’t find it. We checked all the items we’d taken from Doctor Octopus, examined his robotic arm’s structure and programming, and found nothing.”
"This is impossible."
If this thing doesn't exist at all, then how did Doctor Octopus separate himself from Venom in the first place?
The disappearance of this thing can only be attributed to one situation: Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D. hid all the data about it.
…………
Otto Octavia had previously joined the weapons expansion program, where he researched symbiotes and even used symbiote minions from the symbiote frenzy to develop his own artificial symbiote.
And as almost everyone knows, the weapons expansion program is essentially Hydra's super-soldier resource pool. Therefore, it's highly likely that all of Doctor Octopus's data and information on creating artificial symbiotes are backed up by Hydra.
It is known that Hydra possesses all the data on symbiote research, has records of human experiments conducted on Rikers Island, knows about that place, that someone forged Cletus's death sentence record, and deleted all information on weapons specifically designed to target symbiotes.
Is there any doubt which bastards orchestrated that massacre?
He took a deep breath and said nothing; after all, Ward was still there. Although Coulson, having been warned beforehand, should already know that Ward was a Hydra agent, he had no intention of replacing him or taking action.
Just contact Fury directly, or talk to the senior... Now everything is clear: the mastermind behind the massacre and the cover-up of Cletus's information is Hydra.
Another, more complicated question: Did Hydra really only create one Carnage? Or was Cletus just an experiment, and were they trying to mass-produce Carnage, but were still unsure about the various data points for Carnage?
“I will work with Baxter Building to see if Reed Richards can help me solve this problem.”
Peter sighed, using his connections to temporarily deflect the topic: "So, the next question is, how do we bring up the massacre?"
