Chapter 553: Difficult Time to Start the Title
Gwen and Cindy were not only notified by Peter at the same time, but they also arrived at Baxter Tower at almost the same time. The reason they did not choose the Parker family's house was partly because Peter could not be sure that the Parker family's house was not being monitored in the reality that S.H.I.E.L.D. was not trustworthy, and partly because Baxter Tower itself was safe enough.
Peter was at least assured that he wouldn't be eavesdropped on or anything like that.
"Let me guess, he definitely intends to prevent us from following him."
The moment Gwen saw Cindy, she probably understood what Peter was about to say: "What do you think?"
“I know where he’s going, and I plan to follow him.”
“That’s absolutely right. Anyway, no one will know if I’m with him, so let’s just do it.”
Gwen laughed. They both thought the same thing: Peter was sure he wouldn't let them participate in dangerous operations and intended for them to stay. Neither Gwen nor Cindy would agree to that.
So they had to figure out a way to fool him and then secretly follow behind Peter.
At that moment, Peter Parker was watching the two people on the monitor conspiring and discussing something, while Franklin, who was playing on the computer, asked without even raising his eyebrows, "Sometimes I can't understand why humans exhibit intelligence in their emotional lives that far exceeds what is normal."
“I can assure you that Reed is not like that.”
Franklin laughed with considerable pride.
"Yes, my father never wasted any extra thinking in his daily life with my mother, and perhaps it is this state that can give birth to the best father in the world."
"Because they raised the best people in the world?"
"Yes."
With a helpless shrug, Peter let Franklin take the computer and leave first. He was still busy with the task of locating Reed. Kang probably never imagined that the person in charge of this task all along was a three-year-old child.
As for Peter, he tidied up his laboratory in the Baxter Building a bit—though he had basically never used it.
That said, the portal that originally led to the wasteland universe also stopped working. Kang seemed unaware of the portal's existence, and simply used the power of the Cosmic Cube to directly seal off most methods of traversing the multiverse.
So this thing is really troublesome.
Peter waited for the two girls to come up while he was thinking. After the automatic door opened, he smiled, then awkwardly scratched his head, took a deep breath, and looked at them.
"I called you here because it's not safe outside. What I'm about to say is very important and cannot be leaked."
As Peter spoke, he began operating the computer, immediately raising the security level in the lab to the maximum. This change in atmosphere was beyond Gwen and Cindy's expectations; they had initially thought Peter didn't intend to let them act, but it seemed that wasn't the case now.
"We devised a plan to deal with Kang. First, we can be certain that the other warlords will also take action, and they will act first. So all we have to do is wait for their show to end. Then, we divided the plan into three parts."
In the first part, the X-Men, along with Apocalypse (who was then a slave to the Pharaoh), will overthrow Kang's rule in ancient Egypt. The most important aspect is freeing Apocalypse, a powerful force. Apocalypse from Earth-811 has already proven his strength, making him one of the few forces capable of threatening Kang, who only possesses the Cosmic Cube. In the second part, the retrieved Fantastic Four and Deadpool will raid Kang's 31st-century stronghold to search for Kang's origins and source of power. If they can achieve a breakthrough there, everything will proceed smoothly.
The third part, now mainly handled by the four members of the new Fantastic Four, has been supplemented by other people contacted by Peter.
“We call the third and most important part… the Thief Plan. As the name suggests, we’re going to steal the Time Stone from Kang.”
After hearing the general outline of the plan, Gwen roughly understood her role, but she asked a very important question with great confusion: "Why not steal the Cosmic Cube?"
“Because Kang definitely has a way of remembering the existence of the Cosmic Cube. It’s not like he’ll forget about it just because you got it. Don’t forget that half of your abilities were given to you by Kovac, Gwen.”
Peter explained briefly: "And more importantly, everyone else's attention must also be focused on the Cosmic Cube, so we have a better chance of stealing the Time Stone. More importantly, we've obtained the key to victory."
Peter didn't explain immediately, but instead assigned Gwen a task: "Gwen, you'll be working with Felicia, Katie, and the X-Men Nightcrawler. The professor will guide you. Make sure Kang's attention is sufficiently drawn in, and that everything is foolproof before you act. Don't even think about stealing the Cosmic Cube, absolutely not."
“And Cindy, I expect you to do the same things as before.”
Cindy looked at Peter with a puzzled expression before she realized, "Find you? Where are you going?"
"I don't know. If I'm lucky, I won't have to go anywhere. I came into contact with the Cosmic Cube before, maybe it can help."
After he finished speaking, Peter let out a long sigh of relief and then smiled.
"So, once we've got everything sorted out, let's go back to how things were before. You guys choose a time, and whenever I'm free, we'll go on a date together."
It sounded strange, but the two women understood what Peter meant: just like before, each of them would choose a time to go on a date with Peter...
Wait a minute, Gwen seemed to realize something was wrong.
Back in Puerto Rico, the reason Gwen and Cindy chose to treat Peter Parker this way was simply because he couldn't choose between the two girls, so they were just trying to make a move. But Peter's words now seem to disregard that premise?
"and many more……"
"I hope we can all come back."
Peter silenced Gwen with a single sentence, and Peter Parker, who had been looking down, breathed a sigh of relief.
Good, Peter, let's not worry about anything else for now, at least we've got this sorted out.
Let's worry about the future later; surviving is the most important thing right now.
Update times will be adjusted to one update at 5 PM and one update at 8 PM.
