Chapter 513 Octopus City
Chapter 513 Octopus City
The Avengers in Europe failed to complete their planned mission; they did not find the Winter Soldier, and now they have received two very troublesome pieces of news.
One scenario involves the fall of Manhattan and Spider-Man's fate being unknown, while the other involves Kang the Conqueror's army appearing in near-Earth space, threatening the world with his rule.
Even the Avengers had very clear disagreements about their next course of action.
“We can’t just leave that child in Manhattan; he needs us!”
Tony looked at the captain, wondering what he was still hesitating about: "What are we waiting for?!"
“They have an entire city as hostage, Tony, and we can’t be sure if Spider-Man has really lost. He may have retreated temporarily, but that doesn’t mean he’s defeated.” The captain analyzed calmly, but Tony couldn’t help rolling his eyes: “Just a bolt of lightning? Let Thor take him out.”
“I’m afraid New York is facing more than just a bolt of lightning right now, Tony.” Pym handed the tablet to Tony with concern: “Leaving aside the possibility that Mysterio is using a brainwave device to interfere with Thor, take a look at this.”
Tony Stark took the tablet, which displayed the current situation in New York City as shown by Stark Industries' satellites. A vast swarm of octopus-like robots of all sizes had appeared throughout the city, undoubtedly carrying dangerous and lethal weapons. Occasionally, the satellites could be seen showing the Defenders and other scattered superheroes resisting the octopus robots.
No one knows when these octopus robots were designed and built, but the sheer number of them, combined with the sinister Six, has put the entire city of New York hostage.
And indeed, and more importantly, they face an even more powerful enemy. Kang the Conqueror and his future army have appeared in near-Earth orbit, with a massive force awaiting the Avengers' arrival. Nick Fury has just sent a message that he is secretly preparing a team to enter Manhattan to deal with the Sinister Six, and he also revealed that Spider-Man is not dead.
And another piece of bad news.
"The X-Men disappeared on their way to support Spider-Man. Considering the timeline, we can make a reasonable deduction: the Sinister Six actually had the support of Kang the Conqueror, and they were trying to distract us."
Aside from Kang, probably no one else could have completely and secretly lost most of the X-Men. Now, the entire Xavier Academy is left with only Wolverine, Rogue, and a group of students.
Meanwhile, even worse news came that the Fantastic Four had also gone missing.
"Reed is tinkering with time travel in order to fight against Kang the Conqueror."
Tony rubbed his temples in exasperation: "But Baxter Building is completely unresponsive right now; they must have been dealt with by Kang the Conqueror."
And indeed, the Fantastic Four's time travel went very smoothly; they successfully returned to the Early Cretaceous period to see dinosaurs baring their teeth.
Then Kang the Conqueror sneaked over and blew up their time-travel vehicle, trapping them in the Cretaceous period, where there was no high technology, thus imprisoning the Fantastic Four.
Unless you, Reed Richards, can conjure up a time travel device for me in the Cretaceous period, you're staying there!
The Avengers were unaware of this; they had already received a message from Nick Fury. With Manhattan completely lost, the United Nations had summoned world leaders to Shanghai to discuss how to deal with Kang the Conqueror.
No country would willingly dissolve its government and hand over the world to a guy from the future who claims to have thousands of spaceships; they need to discuss countermeasures.
It is obvious that under normal combat methods, the military strength of various countries is not enough to confront these behemoths that can travel in space. Therefore, the only solution they can think of is to replicate the Battle of New York—to have all the superpowered organizations in the world unite to attack Kang.
The captain was somewhat skeptical of the operation, but he still insisted that the Avengers go to Shanghai for a meeting first. "Nick Fury said he has a plan, so we have to trust him."
"My God, Captain."
Tony rolled his eyes again: "Nick Fury, you believe him?"
“I don’t believe Fury’s words, but I believe in his abilities, and we have to believe in the kid. Let’s go.”

Parker's house in Queens.
Although there is no actual footage showing how the Sinister Six defeated Spider-Man, their rampage in New York now demonstrates one fact: they did indeed defeat Spider-Man.
"Despite my dislike for that wall climber, I am absolutely certain that Spider-Man fought to the very last moment, at least until the Daily Bugle's helicopter crashed."
After Electro regained his power, Jonah Jameson began reporting on the incident again. The Daily Bugle had lost all its staff on a helicopter, and he was now bloodshot, even siding with Spider-Man.
"I'm pretty sure that as long as Spider-Man isn't dead, he'll fight to the end. He might be injured right now and need to rest, but he'll definitely step up!"
"Jonathan Jameson and the Daily Bugle will do the same..."
Before JJJ could finish speaking, a violent explosion blew a large hole in the Daily Horn's live broadcast room, and Scorpion from the sinister six rushed in, revealing a smile.
"Hello, Mr. Jameson..."
Gwen stood in the Parker's living room, watching Uncle Ben and Aunt May, who dared not look at the television but also did not want to look away. She glanced anxiously at her phone; Peter hadn't answered the phone. Not only Peter, but Dad hadn't either.
Could it be that he's worried about revealing his location? How is he doing now...?
Gwen suddenly remembered something, then took a few steps out of the living room and dialed another person's number. The call was answered quickly.
"Hey Cindy? When are you getting here...? Are you sure..."
“I’m sure he’s still alive, just not in good condition.” Cindy paused on the other end of the phone. “I’ll be there soon.”
"Oh my God, is that Peter? He's still alive?"
Upon hearing this, Gwen returned to the living room and witnessed an astonishing scene on television: Spider-Man, dressed in a black suit, stormed into the studio, engaged in a fierce battle with Scorpion, who was threatening JJJ, and then they both pounced on him.
That spider suit looked like armor, with many armor-like structures, and how should I put it... for some reason, Gwen felt that it wasn't Peter.
