Chapter 464 Where is Mystique again?
Because of AIM, the Sinister Six, and the Brotherhood of Mutants simultaneously going to war, the entire United States was thrown into chaos. In New York, the X-Men mobilized to protect Congressman Kelly, who was promoting the Mutant Registration Act, to prevent his death from escalating the conflict between mutants and American society.

The Brotherhood of Mutants is an organization that has been fighting against the X-Men for many years. From the time when Magneto was still the X-Men's adversary to the present, they have been a group of extremists who advocate the theory of mutant supremacy and pursue the extermination of all humans in the world in the most extreme way.

Mystique, now the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, led a group consisting of Bulbasaur, Toad, Pyro, and Doppelganger to storm the scene, only to be quickly driven away by the X-Men who outnumbered them. However, after driving the Brotherhood away, they encountered a very tricky problem.

The most troublesome person, Mystique, has disappeared.

"X-Men, do you really need to make such a fuss?"

Congressman Kelly didn't quite understand the group's cautiousness. In his view, the terrorists had been driven away, so the area should theoretically be safe. He looked around helplessly, pondering what benefits this attack could bring him.

As a congressman who advocates against mutants, Kelly is not actually anti-mutants; on the contrary, he harbors no ill will towards these superhumans. After all, he has neither friends or family members who have died because of mutants, nor relatives who have become mutants, and thus has no grudge against mutants.

The only connection is that his financial backer was Stryker back then, and is now Stryker's successor. This group is a standard anti-mutant interest group, and as their spokesperson, Kelly naturally has to speak for their interests.

Therefore, in terms of his attitude towards the X-Men, he didn't actually discriminate against them.

So Cyclops devised a method that wasn't very privacy-conscious but was very effective: he had the White Queen scan the brains of everyone nearby to find out who Mystique was impersonating.

It was at this moment that Katie arrived from the other side of the portal. Seeing everyone's tense scene, she was curious, but still followed the professor's instructions and went to Senator Kelly, saying, "Hello, Mr. Kelly, I am Shadowcat from the X-Men. I hope you can reconsider the matter of the Mutant Registration Act."

“I’m sorry, miss. This isn’t just my opinion; anti-mutant legislation is a social consensus, a kind of…”

Professor Xavier didn't give Senator Kelly any time to react at all; in an instant, his consciousness was pulled into another dimension. Here, he saw an older Shadowcat, Spider-Man, and Charles Xavier, whom many believed to be long dead.

"Professor Charles? They all say you're dead."

"Fate brought me back to life."

The professor sighed helplessly, then looked around and showed Representative Kelly the vision of the future. Kelly was horrified to discover that his daughter was actually in the concentration camp right in front of him, with an ugly letter "H" etched on her face, just like everyone else.

“This is the system the Sentinels use to distinguish between humans and mutants,” Professor Charles said. “Humans who have no superpowers or signs of mutation will have an ‘H’ tattooed next to their eyes. People with superpowers, or those who may have inherited superpowers, will have an ‘A’ tattooed on their eyes, while mutants will have an ‘M’ tattooed on their eyes.”

"This……"

Kelly saw everyone—ordinary people, superhumans, and mutants alike—submitted daily blood tests and given only basic clothing and rationed food. He watched in horror as the Sentinels slaughtered humans in droves. Yes, not mutants, but all humans and those classified as "A." Mutants, on the other hand, were rarely killed; instead, they were meticulously dissected.

"Why?" Kelly asked the professor, his voice trembling. "Why would they do this?"

"The X gene can mutate at any time with human reproduction. Because of this, the number of mutants is increasing day by day. Nimrod, who is aware of this, probably believes that eliminating humans is a means to control the number of mutants."

It has been proven that humans cannot control super artificial intelligence, nor can they predict the development of such a product. Regardless of which super AI emerges and defeats its counterparts, it will ultimately follow the same path.

“They will ‘take care’ of humans based on what the program deems ‘correct,’ regardless of whether such care is necessary.”

The professor looked at Senator Kelly: "That's why the X-Men saved you, Senator. Because Nimrod is a product of human hatred and fear of mutants, and we hope to reduce that hatred and fear by saving you."

“I…I can’t make any promises.” Kelly’s voice was incoherent and panicked. “All I can say is that I’ll try my best! I’ll try my best!”

When Congressman Kelly returned to 2013, he was shocked. He realized that what he was doing was a huge mistake, and that he had to persuade the people behind him and tell them what he had seen.

The professor, who had witnessed this, was quite pleased; it seemed that the gears of fate had begun to turn.

But at that moment, the White Queen finished her telepathic scan of the entire area. After completing the scan, the White Queen gave an answer that surprised everyone: "Mystique didn't come."

"What do you mean?"

“That means Mystique isn’t around. Unless there’s a telepath stronger than me nearby protecting her, she’s not here.” Emma looked at Cyclops, who then began to think: “The Raft prison attack, the terrorist attack on the president, and this attack all happened almost simultaneously, with perfect timing. The purpose was to keep all the superheroes busy.”

"You mean, these three things are connected?"

“What I mean by ‘Laser Eye’ is that, generally speaking, humans can’t schedule things with that kind of precision,” Logan answered Iceman’s question. “Remember our greatest enemy? He never showed up.”

Ning Lu did not appear from beginning to end.

“If all of this is part of its plan…” Cyclops frowned, “then where did Mystique go?”
