I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 445 The Future of the Past
Chapter 445 The Future of the Past (Part 1)
In the multiverse, there exists a special cosmic correspondence known as the "possible future".
For example, both the Wasteland Universe and Earth 2099 are possible futures of Earth 616. As long as the decisive event that created this universe has not occurred, these universes are interconnected in terms of timeline.
Of course, they are still different. For example, the special spider totem is unique in the multiverse. Therefore, it exists in a superposition state of both existence and non-existence in these possible futures.
This is also one of the special characteristics of the 616 universe: it possesses the most possible futures. As long as these universes are still possible futures of the 616 universe, then theoretically, you could use a time machine to return to Earth 616 from these universes.
For example, what Katie Pride from Earth 811 wants to do is go back to the past, to the year 2013 that Earth 811 and Earth 616 are currently sharing.
In 2029, there are no longer superheroes, nations, or governments; the world is no longer controlled by living beings, but by Sentinels.
To be precise, it is a super sentinel robot named Nimrod.
Katie emerged from the ruins of the Baxter Building, carrying a bag of parts that might still be somewhat useful. She traversed layers of walls, carefully dodging the Sentinel robots that could appear at any moment.
Nimrod Sentinels, the final form of the Sentinels, are capable of self-repair and self-replication, possessing the terrifying ability to instantly replicate all X-gene abilities.
What's most terrifying is that they can go on and on without limit, if they so choose.
Katie stopped.
Other survivors appeared in the distance; they appeared to be ordinary humans fleeing Nimrod's attack.
[Dear citizen, please stop immediately for inspection.]
Compared to the earlier metal shell, Nimrod, who was only a little over two meters tall, landed next to the survivors, scanned them, and then raised his hand: "Your gene sequence does not contain the X gene, but your gene has a 0.00127% probability of mutating today and becoming a new mutant. This data has exceeded the threshold."
Katie held her breath, hiding herself in the concrete—a little trick to make Ninglu ignore her. But she couldn't use it for too long, after all, she needed to breathe too.
After a long silence, Katie descended into the New York sewers. These sewers contained numerous facilities left behind by survivors and rebels; over four hundred years of history, from the New Amsterdam era to the present day, the layered network of sewers made them perhaps the safest place in New York City.
Or perhaps, this is just a self-deceiving excuse.
"Iliana, I'm back!"
Seeing her companions, who had risked their lives to hide here, safe and sound, Katie was overjoyed, but the commotion above made them realize something was terribly wrong. Iliana immediately pulled Katie to her side and then raised the Soul Sword in her hand.
In an instant, the portal covered the two people, while the Nimrod sentinel who had dug open the sewer only detected the overflowing heat.
Katie and Iliana returned to the rebels', or rather, the survivors' stronghold. Located in Siberia, it was a former secret base of Hydra, where they had been staying for half a month—the safest base they had found so far.
Katie breathed a sigh of relief upon returning "home," and then, overjoyed to see her lover come to check after hearing the commotion, she immediately hugged him, exclaiming, "Peter!"
"I'm fine, Katie. Did you bring the things back?"
"I brought it out."
As Katie spoke, she put down her backpack and took out a broken robot from it—Herbie, the robot assistant of the Fantastic Four.
Katie didn't know why Peter needed this, but Peter made it clear—hope. "I've made contact with some survivors. Don't look at me, Iliana, I know it's dangerous, but compared to what we're about to do, any risk is worth it."
"If you're talking about that stupid idea of traveling back in time to reverse the future, I advise you to forget about it."
Iliana sighed: "Remember? Cyclops and his old son who traveled back from 2059. My brother and the others planned to go back to 2013, and in the end they all died—I didn't even have time to take them away."
"In theory, Bishop succeeded; he went back in time."
"Then why are we still in this godforsaken place?"
Iliana's question left Peter speechless. In the end, he sighed helplessly, "Then we have to give it a try. We previously speculated that physical travel would require too much energy, so we need to change our approach."
As Peter spoke, he disassembled Herbie. He missed his internship at Baxter Tower, sometimes adventuring with the Fantastic Four, and sometimes fighting criminals as Spider-Man.
Now, all of that is gone forever, and even the people I once wanted to protect and love have vanished.
Now their team is down to just the three of them.
The spider senses have long since lost their effectiveness. It's not that they've stopped working, but rather that once you leave the no-man's land, the spider senses start beating from almost every direction, making it impossible to determine where the danger is coming from.
Conversely, if it's in a remote mountain forest, then spider sensors become a very useful alarm.
There's some noise outside.
Peter's spider-sense went off at just the right moment, and he shook his head helplessly, looking at Iliana. Iliana shook her head in annoyance; they had only been living here for half a month.
"where are we going?"
"Let's go meet up first."
Katie looked at Peter, puzzled, and asked, "Wouldn't that make us a bigger target and easier to expose?"
“But we need to talk in person, or rather, we really need to organize a meeting. Time is running out, Iliana, now!”
A beam of red light descended from the sky, covering the entire secret base and creating a crater more than ten meters deep, leaving nothing behind.
In the heart of the Nevada desert, three people made their way into a U.S. military bunker. Upon seeing who had arrived, the survivors waiting there smiled with satisfaction.
"Look who's here, Spider-Boy with a woman on each arm. Hopefully you can bring some good news."
Logan laughed as he spoke, and Peter simply asked Logan, "Has he arrived? I need his help."
“I’ve always been here, child.”
An old man walked over with the help of a mechanical prosthetic leg. His bald head was shiny, and he still looked at Peter with hope.
“Mr. Charles Xavier, if there is a suitable medium, can you send a person’s consciousness back to the past?”
