Chapter 417 Roman Holiday (2)

During the Roman Holiday, everyone else was either out having fun or on dates, and some students even tried to pick up Italian girls in Rome during those five days.

Mary Jane Watson, wearing glasses, sat in the hotel's café, ordered a coffee, put on her glasses, and began typing on her computer. She didn't actually have any assigned tasks; after all, she was just a high school intern, unlikely to get any real work, especially since this trip was funded by her school.

Jonah Jameson was an excellent leader; though sharp-tongued, he genuinely cared for his subordinates. After realizing that Phil Ulrich wasn't a bad person or a traitor, he not only personally apologized to Phil in the hospital but also paid for his medical expenses. Furthermore, the Daily Bugle paid for Mr. Ned's funeral.

He fully approved of Mary Jane's desire to join the tour group; after all, it's good for students to travel more. At most, he gave Mary Jane a few completely unimportant news articles to practice writing.

The whole thing changed when Spider-Man appeared in Naples.

As the sole correspondent for the Daily Caller in Naples, Mary Jane was granted top privileges by Jameson to thoroughly investigate and report on why Spider-Man was in Italy. Considering the Avengers haven't announced any urgent missions in Europe, is Spider-Man's presence in Italy related to something else?
"Is that damn bug planning to play the hero again, taking care of something and leaving like he saved the world?! I'm going to expose him! Watson, find Spider-Man and keep a close eye on him!"

Mary Jane had to keep her phone away from Jonah's abuse while she was still suffering from jet lag, and now she was given this important task.

"Why is Spider-Man in Europe...? According to news from New York, Spider-Man is also in the United States. Either he can create clones, or he came in an emergency." Mary Jane typed while gathering information from various news reports. She adjusted her glasses and began to think about the things related to Spider-Man's enemies along the way.

First, in Lisbon, the students were hit by a sandstorm as soon as they landed. A face appeared in the sandstorm, the same face that had appeared during the battle in Naples. In other words, these enemies were present from the moment the students landed in Lisbon.

And then there was the battle in Naples, and if we add that inexplicable bright light in Madrid that night… It seems like these enemies are hunting us students? Why? Do we have any important figures among us? The teacher leading the group? Or some student?
Mary Jane scratched her head, feeling that the investigation had hit a dead end, and began to think about why this was happening.

If Peter Parker were here, that guy would not only be willing to help, but he's also very smart. As a member of the detective agency, he should be able to provide good clues, just like when they investigated the bombing.

Mary Jane was in distress when she heard a "bang," which startled her so much that she immediately stood up. She then saw a girl fall to the ground and quickly helped her up. She realized that the student seemed to be from their school.

No, not only that, this senior seems to be the president of the detective club!

Mary Jane's eyes lit up. She first helped the girl to the seat opposite her and asked with concern, "Are you alright, senior?"

"It's alright, I suddenly feel a bit weak. Oh, I remember you, you're... the guitarist and lead singer of the band 'Mary Janes,' right?"

Mary Jane looked at Jessica with some surprise and nodded: "Yes, Senior Jessica."

"Huh? You know me?"

“I am, uh, Peter Parker’s friend. We know each other, and I’ve heard of you.” Mary Jane sat back down in her seat and then asked Jessica, “How did you know me, senior?”

“I basically memorized all the students’ information, anything publicly available, and then I just wrote it down and organized it. For example, I also know you’re an intern reporter for the Daily Bugle, because the school posted a notice, and you should be writing a Spider-Man story right now? After all, you’re an intern reporter for the Daily Bugle.” Jessica sat down across from her and asked the waiter for a coffee, then asked curiously, “What’s wrong? Are you having writer’s block?”

"Yes, I don't know who these people are or what they're doing. I'm just guessing they're probably following us, but I don't know why..."

Jessica raised an eyebrow; she actually knew pretty much why.

Because one of the students is their target, and that person is probably Spider-Man.

Just like Scorpion back then, Jessica, or anyone investigating and following Spider-Man, could easily spot the characteristics of his action time. Those who fit this timeframe are basically only high school or college students. After further elimination using a class schedule, and considering that Spider-Man isn't actually that tall, it's almost certain that he's a high school student.

However, Jessica couldn't proceed any further. She wasn't Scorpion, and she didn't have Kingpin backing her, so she couldn't investigate any further. But she did know some other things, such as that her father provided technical support to Spider-Man at Osborn Technologies, and that Spider-Man was a member of the Avengers.

Therefore, if one could obtain the list and compare the interns at Osborn Technologies and Stark Industries, theoretically one could find out who Spider-Man really is, but Jessica couldn't get it.

Two more crucial things were on her mind. One was what her father had told her: not to bother Spider-Man. News reports showed Spider-Man was constantly battling enemies and incredibly busy, which would certainly be a hassle. The other was that her own illness was likely more serious. Although her father kept saying he was researching a cure, Jessica didn't hold out much hope.

If I were completely paralyzed, finding Spider-Man might just cause more trouble.

So Jessica chose to investigate secretly, intending to end the investigation once she was no longer able to act.

But now... she has obtained a new clue.

Spider-Man must be a student at his own school; those four monsters were chasing after him!
So who exactly is he?

As Jessica thought about it, she looked at Mary Jane and smiled, "Do you want me to help you?"

"Really? Thank you so much."

"it's okay no problem."

Jessica smiled, intending to take the Daily Bugle to the ditch.
