Chapter 415 The Shadow of the Nine-Headed Hydra

Chapter 415 The Shadow of Hydra

Outside Budapest, Hungary.

An ancient medieval castle stands here. During World War II, it was one of the Nazi strongholds, but it was completely cleared out after the war.

Of course, this did not prevent Hydra agents who had infiltrated the Eastern European camp from redeploying their forces here and making it the new headquarters of Hydra—because the truth about the origins of Hydra was located here.

In fact, Peter's guess was true. Richard Parker did indeed discover a similar structure in Budapest based on his research in Taranto, ultimately uncovering Hydra's greatest secret.

"It seems Nick Fury has still managed to spread his tentacles here."

The elderly, bald man, the owner of the castle, sat in the courtyard drinking tea. He appeared unremarkable, wearing an elegant monocle and a somewhat worn black military overcoat. His right hand, the one holding the teacup, was strikingly different; it was a pure crimson red and resembled a prosthetic limb with some metallic structure.

“It seems that Anim has failed to live up to your expectations, Zemo.”

"Shouldn't it be that you failed to hide your tail properly, which attracted Fury's pursuit, Strucker?"

Looking at Zemo sitting opposite him, Baron Strucker, the Supreme Commander of Hydra, smiled. Although many people would think that Baron Zemo was the supreme leader of Hydra, in reality, it was Strucker who had been in charge of handling related affairs all these years.

Viper, Strucker, and Zemo are the current supreme leaders of Hydra, their status even surpassing that of Alexander Pierce, who wields considerable influence in the United States. Strucker stood up with a smile: "So, Richard Parker's son and our old rival, Captain America, are both on their way?"

"Old rival? Back when the captain died, you were just a kid, Strucker."

Zemo stood up: "We need time to relocate the temple. This plan should have started back when I got rid of Richard Parker."

Strucker raised an eyebrow. The assassination attempt on the Parker couple was originally intended to be handled by the Winter Soldier, but for some reason, Zemo didn't trust him. So, in the end, the two of them hijacked the plane together. The Winter Soldier killed the crew, while Zemo personally ended the Parker couple's lives.

Of course, Fury knew nothing of this; all he knew was that the Winter Soldier was here.

“We’ve been prepared for a long time, Zemo. We’re just waiting for the moment to move.” Strucker also stood up. “Let’s go. Let’s take one last look at our temple.”

The two old men walked into the castle's old elevator, took it down to a depth of more than 700 meters underground.

Here lies Hydra's deepest secret—the true origin of Hydra.

When they reached the bottom of the temple, they saw some Hydra elders who had become skeletons. They walked forward without paying any attention and came to an ancient statue.

The statue seemed to depict a monster with the body of a serpent, from which eight serpent heads extended, encircling the upper half of the human figure and ultimately forming a nine-headed hydra. The statue emanated a strange power; everyone who came into contact with it could feel its power and its meaning.

His name is Seth, also known as Tiamat, Revelation, Leviathan. His existence was erased by Gaia and replaced by gods from all over the world, replacing the image of the nine-headed serpent with that of a seven-headed sea serpent.

It is an existence on par with Gaia, Oshutu, and Xisone.

"It is said that in the age of the gods, Set first devoured his own kind, thus becoming the world's first demon god and gaining supreme power. Hydra borrowed his power and ideas. We seize power from ignorant mortals and then use it to rule them."

Strucker looked at the statue of Seth and exclaimed with admiration: "The ignorant do not know how terrible their power is. Some know it, yet they think they can guide him against his enemies. How pathetic and ridiculous they are! It's quite amusing."

"Stop your nonchalant jokes, Strucker. I'm sick and tired of all this mythology. Hydra's ideology is nothing more than this: plunder the power of others, seize power that others don't know they possess, make them think they are powerless mortals, and establish absolute order."

Zemo impatiently interrupted Strucker: "Red Skull once tried to completely conquer the world, but it turned out to be wishful thinking. Zola planned to use his algorithm to control and guide the world, but look at this world, it has long since gone completely mad."

“And isn’t this our opportunity? This world is so dangerous, and humanity is suffering so much.” Strucker smiled. “The Avengers, or whatever, one day people will realize how weak and powerless the heroes who protect them are, and how unable they are to protect them. So what we need to do is very simple.”

Hydra will protect humanity, but at the cost of humanity surrendering its freedom. However, with supervillains, alien threats, and mutants escalating, one day Captain America and his friends will be unable to protect the world.

In that time, the world will bind itself to the war machine. They will seek greater power to protect themselves and avoid destruction. They will then establish a powerful violent institution that will protect humanity and gain unprecedented power.

"Unrestrained power brings unrestrained authority. Hydra's job is to give it a push, to instill fear in everyone, so that they will naturally give up their freedom and become Hydra's slaves. And we will become the Seth of the new world."

Strucker stared at the statue with fascination, but Zemo simply turned and left, leaving behind a single sentence.

"Do as you please, but before that, I want to kill Captain America with my own hands, dismantle everything he's defending, and personally tell him that the freedom he's protecting is worthless."

Zemo walked to the elevator, looked at Strange, and made his request: "I don't care about anything else, I need Jim Hammond. I want to prepare a surprise for the captain."

"He would probably be very happy to see another comrade besides Bucky Barnes."

The origin of the Hydra has been modified, linking them to Set, who is also one of the four primordial gods of Earth.

Interestingly, this Set is not actually the Egyptian god Seth. The latter discovered the former's followers, impersonated the former, and stole his followers.
