Chapter 353 The Threat of Kang the Conqueror
Chapter 353 The Threat of Kang the Conqueror
"So, Kang was behind all of this."
After watching the video of Conqueror Kang on the equipment ball sent by Norman Osborn and understanding everything, Tony rubbed his temples and sighed. It was the first time he had officially seen Conqueror Kang, and the other man had left a very deep impression on him.
Furthermore, this sphere can be opened without requiring specific DNA or fingerprints, and inside are indeed Green Goblin's equipment and serum, stored using some kind of space compression technology. Once opened, it will return to its original size. As for Green Goblin's equipment and serum, it seems Norman himself can now produce them.
Tony reacted immediately.
“We may need to take further steps. Everyone on that list could potentially become a superpowered individual and then a supervillain—perhaps not everyone will choose that path, but we need to act now.”
"Pointless."
The captain's sudden remark interrupted Tony, who then looked at the captain in shock: "Captain, what did you say?"
“It’s pointless. Kang won’t send equipment to everyone. He’ll only equip those who have experienced life-altering events or those who are naturally inclined to this kind of life.” The captain explained his perspective: “So for these people, there’s no point in investigating them. They’ve already made their decisions; they’ve either given up or accepted it.”
"but……"
“Listen to me, Tony. This is what Kang wants. Imagine what happens when you go from passive observation to active intervention. When you actively intervene and decide the fate of other people. Those who chose to give up won't use what's in that little ball, but what will they do when you start forcibly assigning them their fate?”
They might choose to rebel, and their actions, originally intended to prevent their predetermined fate, might instead push them toward it. As the saying goes, those who play with time will be played with by time; the outcome of such matters is difficult to predict.
But Tony was clearly not completely convinced; creating the future was his responsibility, and the source of his confidence.
"And then what? We just let them become new supervillains? Since they didn't throw that thing away immediately..."
"That brings us to the second question, Tony: what if they've just lost it?"
Tony Stark froze, then looked at the captain and suddenly understood. Not everyone wants to be a bad guy, but they might not have the guts to just hand over the item, fearing it would cause even bigger trouble.
Then they will throw these things away.
What happens after that?
“These balls don’t require any instructions or identity verification to get…” Tony suddenly realized that most people would probably just throw away their superpowered equipment, which would then be picked up by new people. These people who picked up the equipment would use it to become new supervillains.
A large number of supervillains, no longer bound by that list and beyond the Avengers' control, have emerged. Anyone can become a new super-powered criminal; all they need to do is search the streets and find these items. If the Avengers wanted to track them down, they would need to implement nationwide surveillance, which is simply impossible. Right now, all the Avengers can do is quickly collect any metal balls that might be found in the trash cans and control these devices.
Tony sat down in the chair and cursed under his breath. Now they were facing not a megalomaniac from the future, but a future that had once again become a random number, unpredictable.
But why would Kang the Conqueror do this? Hasn't the other side already transcended the timeline? Even if the Avengers changed history, it wouldn't have any impact on him. Was it really necessary to pull this stunt?

While Tony and Captain America were figuring out how to deal with the enemy, Peter was also conducting his own investigation. He carefully considered the Green Goblin characters other than Harry and Norman, and was surprised to find that he didn't recognize any of the many evil spirits and Pumpkin Jack.
The original Demon might be someone who would recognize his true name and remember him as a demon, but wouldn't recognize him if called by name alone. Besides that, he only knew of one other person who might be a demon: Ned Liz. He knew a little about the real-life figure behind this MCU Spider-Man's best friend, learning that Liz had been brainwashed and turned into a demon.
If the pumpkin bomb wasn't thrown by Norman, then it's highly likely that it was thrown by the devil or Pumpkin Jack. Now that Peter knows of a possible character connected to them, it's only natural that he should investigate.
Unlike in the MCU, Ned and Peter Parker in Universe 616 are not the same age. Ned is a reporter for the Daily Bugle, and if Peter had chosen to work there as a photographer, they might have been colleagues. However, Peter decided not to intern at the Daily Bugle, so naturally, they no longer had any interaction.
“Alright, Ned Lids, although it’s an illegal intrusion, we don’t have any other options for the time being.”
As Peter spoke, he manipulated the spider robot to enter Ned's apartment through the window. It was still working hours, so no one was home. Peter carefully searched the apartment for anything unusual.
He first saw a pumpkin bomb shell stuck together next to the trash can, but that didn't prove anything, so Peter continued searching. He manipulated the spider robot to crawl into the other person's closet and then saw a shocking scene: a flying skateboard, a pumpkin bomb, an exoskeleton power armor, and Green Goblin serum.
All of these were neatly stacked inside.
It looks like they're deliberately waiting for someone to come and investigate...
Peter recalled the general plot of the comic: Ned's demon identity was actually fake; he had been brainwashed by the real demon and believed himself to be the demon. He died soon after, allowing the real demon to escape and flee from pursuit.
Because it's an old comic, Peter hadn't actually read the original comic, but he had a general understanding of the plot.
"In other words, this could also be a smokescreen by the enemy. Ned may have been brainwashed. In any case, we should prepare contingency plans and avoid alerting them."
Peter muttered to himself as he had the spider robot hack into Ned's exoskeleton armor. After hacking into its programs, he controlled the armor to leave. Next, he was going to Osborn Technologies to learn about the specific structure of the pumpkin bomb. Only in this way could he understand the characteristics of the bomb.
After all, that bomb seems to have many problems.
